    Seems to be popular for people to put the baby water and Nile monitors in turtle tanks

    I got my Tokay from Backwater about a year ago and I'm still very satisfied with my order. Affordable, fast and safe. For people saying they disagree with how they're shipped, ask yourselves this; how do animals get to those crappy pet stores? They're shipped there as well.

    I have sad news, I been away from the videos and have no posted any updates because I split from my ex of 13 years and I had to move to a small apartment, Samson's new home is with an old friend of mine in Florida, he has a enclosure that he can get to go outside in the sun! he is happy! I am planning on getting another one when I can be sure I can have a stable place, I maybe looking to get a green tree boa since MY space is limited! I been sad since this happened So I havent responded to anyone...I was in the process of building an entire room for him before things had to end...

      Do you mean green tree python? Or emerald tree boa? I'm not familiar with a green tree boa but that's not to say they don't exist I've just never heard of them. And make sure your friend in Florida knows that Niles are illegal there and to be careful.

      +joshua burgos Oh thanks man. I've never heard that before, its good to know. I've had a green tree python before. It's almost unbelievable how similar they look even as hatchlings. Especially since they are so distantly related, one being a python and one a boa. Unreal really.

  • @ashcan6
    @ashcan6 10 ปีที่แล้ว

    That's a beautiful little enclosure that you have set up there. As much as I don't want to burst anyone's bubble, however, anyone thinking of duplicating this should know that this kind of setup will quickly become almost IMPOSSIBLE to clean. Monitors defecate a lot, and they often don't care on what or where. They also flat out LOVE destroying things. They dig, knock over plants, crap in the water, bite electrical cords, and did I mention that they dig? With that said, with a large amount of care, one COULD keep a very small monitor in a tank like this for a few months.

    Not trying to disagree with anyone, but I have worked with several V. niloticus that have been in the 5' range and a few that got as long as 6'. I have nothing against owning a Nile if you are into bigger lizards and some bites and claws won't spook you, but out of the 10 I worked with I only encountered one that was semi calm. Just my 2 Cents, take it or leave it.

      No, savannah monitors are rather docile. But Niles have the capability to be docile.

      no that one is tired or sick from being shipped most likely, they're not "docile" or tame by any means.

      If you don't know the basics of how to set up an enclosure then I suggest that you don't get any animal, let alone a monitor.

      And if not handled correctly/enough they will get mean as hell. A big boy nile is not something you want to mess with if you haven't built a connection with it. And even then I wouldn't. You'd be better off with a Savannah tbh, unless you want that kind of keeper's challenge.
