No way I would miss this episode. Mike really is a treasure to the monitor keeping side of the hobby. Simply amazing enclosures and an episode for the books.
This guy has missed his calling. Serious. He could be making big bucks designing and constructing and selling in the market. I would definitely purchase his goods. Awesome guy. He truly loves his monitors.
Outstanding! I use a 40-gallon oil drum, cut-in-half, length-wise, with the remaining half being domed plexiglass. Four Bearded Dragons and two tortoises are extremely happy.
Great episode! I had a great time hanging out with Mike at NARBC- awesome guy (you really can’t miss somebody when they’re donating Merten’s Monitors to USARK auctions, and no one will stop talking about their awesome barrel displays!
This honestly gave me some new ideas for enclosures I wanna build in the future, the one with the tote that could just slide out was brilliant. Easy way to get them out of the hide and makes it easy to keep it humid and clean it.
I absolutely love these enclosures. It’s so refreshing to see this where reptile owners properly keep their pets. With our rescue, we just see the horrible set ups.
Woww. Amazing enclosures. Just beautiful. I wish we all could do it like this. Hahahahah that first one just like BELLLYY FLOOOP. One of my favorite things about any monitors and also what i find the cutest is when they are digging and testing with their noses. Its so cute to me. Mikes just killin it at his place. What a accomplishment.
Wow do I love monitors. All of them!! I wish I had discovered my love of reptiles, especially monitors, when I was much younger. I’m 60 as of 2 days ago and so I’m too old to start now but I’ll live Vi car through channels like this. 🦎🦎❤️🦎🦎
Those logs those with amazing nest/hidey-holes holes in them are just so Beautiful thought out! I LOVE THIS DUDES VOICE!! For those of you from my generating, doesn't he sound like🐺 Wolfman Jack??? He really does!! (that is one pitiful wolf emoji.)
Mike: I salute you sir! You and your son's smashed this out of the park! Dav, once again, awesome! Nothing makes us smile more than a notification that you just uploaded, especially when you take us into a dream land like this!
Beautiful Mike, right up there with that gentleman from Europe that beauti fully built and devoted his entire entire house to his reptiles.I wish I could remember Dave's, episode on that one. Literally dugout his basement by hand to house his huge collection.
Dāv too bad Clint wasn’t there those ackie monitors are crazy adorable and would have flipped to see them in such a stinking rad enclosure 😁. Such attractive and functional ways to enrich his monitors homes. He seems like an amazing person, and love that his sons helped him build these what a wonderful wonderful way to bond. Thank you ever so much for sharing and best wishes always.
Fantastic. Would have liked to learn some more about how he formed the structures with the epoxy. I think I heard briefly towards the end that there styrofoam underneath a lot of the epoxy painted structures?
The Denesoni are increadable!! wow. The Mertins are totally at HOME! That jump in they know what they like, Never seen these before! Dave you do such good work, and just great information. And some awsome human beings that you meet. Hats off and thank you! And you know what?? Rattle on! And yes MORE COW BELL!
Man i love monitors i only have 1 ackie atm but my hope is that one day i can have many more to take care of with enclosures as big and well set up as yours.
Wow that’s some incredible work. From the monitors to the enclosures to all the eggs! Just amazing...I would love to see a tutorial on some of his building techniques!
those basking temps are crazy ofc im not questioning him cuz hes a pro by now but WOW as a boa keeper i had no idea those temps were tolerable for animals. so cool. these animals are so impressive
Thank you and yes, most Varanid bask at very high temperatures. Keep in mind the don't lay there all day. Gravid females will indeed spend more time under the basking sights than say digesting a meal or a morning warm up.
Mike has such an amazing place. Can't wait to go there! And do a video on my own lol Love your videos Dav, hopefully i get to see you tomorrow at the show
Wait this dude is in southern Wisconsin?! I live in southwest Wisconsin and I'd never think that you could own monitors with the kind of weather we have AND give them enough space. But Mike has done it both!
Besides tarantulas, monitors are my absolute favorite. This is the dream right here, incredible animals and enclosures. Mike is quite the talented guy as well, seems quite chill. Common names drive me mad too! Thank you so much for this video. Made my stressful life better for a while.
Zoopoxy... Thank you for mentioning this. I was literally looking for a safe epoxy to use on my new enclosures. A 2' x 4' x 7' and a 3' x 5' x 3' encloser. Then this zoopoxy is mentioned. Just going through the safety data sheet of thosse products got me so excited. Thank you very much. I'm sure PolyGem thanks you too. I just bought a cornicopia of their products!
What a fantastic place, the guy obviously loves his monitors I am jealous!

“If you’re going to keep them it might as well look nice.” I like that way of looking at things. 😎👍

I can’t get over the amount of time, money and talent this guy has put into his enclosures! He’s the real mvp when it comes to monitor keeping 🙌🏻😍🔥
Awesome enclosures, love seeing animals kept in well decorated enclosures instead of little empty boxes
I totally agree!
Thank you for me it's the only way!
I absolutely love these enclosures. It’s so refreshing to see this where reptile owners properly keep their pets. With our rescue, we just see the horrible set ups.
The way those monitwrs catch their fish just shows how intelligent these animals are.
