You should build some small ramp to drive the front car on. That will allow you to pull the first car up over the top of the winch. You might be able to tuck the front end all the way into the goose neck and eliminate the need for flip out ramps at the tail.

I got a 2019 ram 5500 diesel dually hotshot truck for sale has 9600 miles on it, need to sell all ready to go no issues and it has a Fontaine 5th wheel and a 30k receiver too,plus other goodies... Do you not add fsc (fuel surcharge)? We are at 30% fsc on top of rate. This is for semi freight hauling. Seems like there should be a fsc that fluctuates as fuel price fluctuates??!!

You never had any problem doing non cdl on a 3 axle trailer ?
Make small flipup ramps to clear the winch.
This may be the route I go over anything. Also add a top deck after I get my cdl

How is the new Exhaust gaskets working and have you thought about having a custom exhaust header made for the 12 valve
Dps makes a good manifold. No need for anything custom. I think they seal but I haven't cleaned the engine yet so I don't know

This was a 43ft Kaufman trailer(2020) and it had 34" flip out extensions. I loved the trailer but with the way rates went, I had to sell it as I refused to work for free or spend money to get less back!

Hey Steve, nice Vid, just found you on youtube. I'm in the process of getting started. Do you think it'd be better to have 2 tandem axles rather than the 3 singles? I've heard the triaxles can eat up the middle axle tires.
Also, what is your 5th wheel rated at?
3 singles eats tires. I liked the triples for the extra braking power but they are a lot more maintenance. My 5th wheel I believe was a 16k

If you're staying in your own state then all you need is a dot number but if you plan on crossing any state lines you'll also need an mc number.
I paid someone to do all my stuff back in 2018 so I'm not really sure on the whole process.

Steve, I been watching your videos for maybe the last two weeks because at the end of summer I want to get into hotshot trucking and I was curious to know how much you spend a month on maintenance diesel and insurance costs a month? Also is it worth it to get an older ram? U seem to be doing great with it!
Right now I'd stay away. The fuel prices paired with low rates makes it hard for me guys. Running over the road will cost 1500 to 2500 a week on fuel when it used to be no more than 800 a week. Insurance is generally 1500 to 3k per month depending on who you go with.
@@CPSteveMiller got ya! Yeah i know diesel sky rocketed like from 3.59 to 6.60 within a span of a few months and by the way im only 22 so insurance would probably be more than that. Hopefully it’ll be back down by the time summer ends because thats when i plan on getting into hotshot trucking. I appreciate your advice bro 🙏🏻

What clutch are you running in this beast? And was the truck originally a long bed 2500???
Right now just an O'Reilly clutch. I had a southbend dual disc in it and hated it. Held the power but shifted like shit. Next one I'm going to try is a valair single disc once I blow this one up(which won't be much longer)

where did you get the dually flares
A subscriber sent them to me. They were $350 to ship and $350 to buy them so $700 total. I don't think I could ever find them that cheap again
What is this type of car carrier called? Hot Shot?
Is the iDash a real gauge or does it just read ECM values? I was reading on it and it seems to just display ECM values. If this is the case, would it be best to have mechanical gauges?
Banks has a version that works with non obd2. You have to buy the sensors, controllers, etc.

Yeah, I believe you can do both. Oil pressure, boost, egt, and fuel pressure sensors will all have to be added but I already have them

No, it's exactly 26,000 pounds.
CDL is 26,001 or greater.

Mine will fit 3 full size cars. You will need a dually though or you'll always be over weight on the drives

88" wide deck. This Load is 44.5ft long. 40ft is too short for 3 consistently
Yo how do you fix the window covers to window?
When you make them make sure you make them a little oversize. Not by too much. They'll fit right into the window guide all the way around. I used to use velcro but it made a mess of the windows.

Do you have EFS/TSD fuel card? I got fuel @ Petro in Florence, SC #6393 for $3.20 gallon. It's right off of 95 ex 169. Easy on, easy off.

Dually
You need to add the gvwr of the truck and the gvwr of the trailer. If both of those numbers added are over 26,000 then you need a cdl. The 2018 dually has a gvwr of 14k meaning you are limited to a 12k gvwr trailer until you get your cdl.

3k is too low. I shoot for 4k a week and home weekly. You can do a lot more if you stay out longer

4k gross at a minimum. There's guys out here doing way more though. At 4k I'd net 2 to 2500 but I always set money aside. Never spend every dollar you get. Seems like an average freight hauler is doing 5 to 6 a week gross
