As soon as she started booking loads and sorting paperwork it’s been a much more consistent flow of understanding. She’s learned exactly why I’m wound up right some days. When you’ve got 7 outstanding invoices and having to track down people who owe you money it’ll cause you a bad day. Now she gets mad about it before I do 😂

It’s so much off my plate that I don’t have to worry about. It’s hard to show just how frustrating the back office stuff can be because it always pops up while you’re driving.

Hahaha I got lucky that’s for sure. Still lucky everyday! I’m not so sure she’d want to make it regular thing but now she knows the importance of gate passes and just the overall time it takes to load and unload even with a flat tire thrown in the mix. Before too long she’ll be routing me without even running loads by me because she will understand how to plan time. She’s a huge help already!

Just replaced the pump on my auxiliary tank, failed on me during a trip to Vegas, sure did suck to only have the 34 gal main tank. Having 50 gal available and refueling while driving with the flip of a switch is nice.
It’s just going to have to happen. I feel like I’m constantly sitting in the fuel island.

hey congratulations on 10k! and if you want to buy a Land Rover (or any other car from Germany Mercedes, BMW, Audi, VW, it doesn't matter which one), you have to pay the same money in spare parts again and then the workshop costs !!!! and that's what I say as a German ;-) I've been driving a Grand Cherokee WJ Limited since 2004, it's the best car I've had so far !!! I can repair everything myself and the spare parts are super cheap! Greetings to your family

It was an absolute money pit 23,000 euros in repairs in 3 years! after 60,000km the engine was broken !!! fortunately exchanged on a guarantee from Audi but I still had to pay 4500 euros for the installation! never buy a european car, never !!! and with Mercedes, BMW, VW it's exactly the same !!! all cars since 2000 are not durable Sh ** ..... I'm about to go from driving semi to hotshot car hauling. I just want to make sure I stay busy. I just recently found your vids but haven't figured out how best to get loads and stay busy. Any advice would be appreciated!

Thank you man. You have a few options to drive with a class b locally. You could get a city/state job driving several vehicles for highway maintenance and be home everyday. You could also look into driving a school bus. You’d need a chauffeur endorsement but it’s a pretty easy test. Schools are always needing bus drivers 👍
Getting into hot shot shortly. I am thinking about getting a eby aluminum gooseneck. How do you think the trailer will hold up? I have a tig welder and mig spoolgun to fix cracks.
I’ve looked into aluminum hotshot trailers and never really found any that were rated high enough to mess with. The price point is crazy but if you can make it happen then absolutely go for it.

This was all local from a customer. I priced him at $850 for the day. 210 miles total. Took about 6 hours overall. Since all 5 vehicles were through the from and to the same business I just charged him for the time instead of each vehicle. 👍

I currently run a ball hitch setup but it’s only because of the rental truck. If I had my way it’s fifth wheel all the way. Only reason I don’t have one is because this Ram I’m in has the puck system and I refuse to buy a fifth wheel specifically for this truck and/or a $500 adapter plate on a universal setup once again specifically for this 1 damn truck lol.

Do you drive all over the US? I have been driving for over 13 years 18 wheeler. I want to set something up after retirement and haul cars. What’s the start up if you don’t mind me asking?
I’m pretty regional now. I generally stay in the Midwest and southeast area unless I just feel like taking a trip. As far as startup goes it really just depends on how you go about it. If you finance you’ll have to figure down payments, rental has deposits involved. Generally though once you have your equipment in line I wouldn’t start up without at least 15-20k in the bank to help absorb the learning curve if you’re new to the industry.

There’s always exceptions but for the majority of people absolutely not. Insurance and fuel alone would chew up almost anything you’d make. Couple that with payments on any equipment you may finance and you’d be doomed from the start unfortunately.

That was a 22 3500. I’d definitely go 4500 or 5500 though. There were certain configurations I couldn’t haul because of it, such as 3 trucks or 2 trucks and a large suv. I couldn’t utilize the flippers because weight was maxed out on the truck. I had to stick to a max of 1 truck and 2 smaller cars or 3 cars/suv
@Load Mizer makes sense. Yeah I am only looking to haul 20KLBS max. Maybe even 19K lbs. Since the trucks weight around 7k, and I am NON CDL. 26klbs max.

Not technically but without one it would be impossible to haul 3 vehicles consistently. I typically run about 28-30k loaded
