The missions were so repetitive. I was able to call things out before they even happened. Like how stealth missions end in a firefight almost every time. It literally got to the point where I'm 2/3 through a mission and I'm sitting there thinking "Something is gonna go wrong and we're gonna get into a shootout". And then it happens.
Yes, players expect more, but it’s not the same, “more,” that they’re getting. They want good writing! Characters to care about, admire and want to spend time with, in a world that’s cool and filled with things you want to explore. They just seem to give you more and more area to fill with fetch quests and waste your time, leaving you feeling insulted and dirty.
I think a big problem is that everything is made by committee. Everything has to be safe, everything has to be bland, everything has to fit inside what a game is 'expected' to be. Therefore we just get the same thing over and over again. Safe protagonists, obvious plot lines, tired gameplay loops and boring mechanics that we've seen dozens of times before.

There’s an obvious motive behind that. Look at all the women in this game; they’re all made to be unattractive. They either have buzz cuts, or just straight up Luke Skywalker’s hair, or are chubby. Or they are gay. I think the only woman that’s immune to this is Qi’ra and that’s only because she’s an already established character, but even with her, they gave her baggy clothes. The idea that all women in games need to be unattractive and/or gay just to annoy male gamers is stupid. I know it’s a small issue compared to everything else in SW Outlaws, but I really dislike how much Jaylen looks like Kyle Katarn, to the point where most people thought it was him the first time Jaylen appeared in a trailer. Again, it’s a small issue, but I really think it’s indicative of how lazy Ubisoft was with this entire game. I'm liking the game. Sure the writing is goofy and Kay Vess isn't the greatest chaecter but I've played way worse. The world design is phenomenal so far (I'm on the 3rd major planet).. the 2 things that drive me crazy is you can't jump onto other speeders or any of the vehicles and not being able to do anything after you grab a different weapon. You can pick up a stormtroopers rifle but if you have to climb a latter or get on your speeder you just toss the rifle, its so dumb.
I had originally planned on getting it even though I knew it wouldn't be that good but I thought it might be good enough to explore the nice looking environments and shoot some stuff but the moment the released the pricing I was not only out on this game but ubisoft as a whole. For the gold and ultimate in Canada it's $145 and $170. That's bad enough but they even had a day one mission locked behind one of those too. I'm done supporting games with microtransactions at all anymore. There's still plenty of amazing games without any of that stuff
There are good games out there just not in the AAA market like in earlier times. Now it's AA and smaller. As graphics engines are so powerful now even smaller studios can create beautiful but also artistic games. RoboCop Rogue City , Stray , Disco Elysium . Just finished Observer Redux . Also a very good game.
These are basically the exact same issues that we've been having with The Assassin's Creed games for a long time now. Not surprised at this point, just Ubi being Ubi.
Fair points in this video I reckon. I waited for all the "official" reviews which I thought were fair. I bought it knowing it would be far from perfect and actually enjoyed the game. Finished it and played it for 80 hours. I am 51 now and agree it is sad about how games are marketed and sold to us in recent times but no there are very few constructive voices like yours. Hopefully the poor sales of this game will be a further kick up the backside for other publishers. I assume that Massive, who seemed over ambitious in this game, were under pressure to wrap this one up unfinished and I am sad that ultimately this will damage the already damaged Star Wars IP I love. I don't care for the online hate that people seem to get their kicks from these days. Refreshing to hear a view about the game expressed respectfully even if it doesn't agree with my experience. The only other point I would make is that other than the recent Jedi games which were good there isn't really any Star Wars alternatives at the moment and that's why I gave it a try.

SW outlaws is not everything the industry is doing wrong. It’s actually does a lot of things different than it’s predecessors like AC and Far Cry. The writing is not great - that’s true, mechanics are a bit rough, and 80€ is off course too much - but it also has some really nice presentation, beautiful atmosphere and really delivers some of that *old* Star Wars feel. Overall it’s just an Ok - to nice game, but I feel it’s just on vogue to jump on every ubi game nowadays. Still good video though!
You explaning with a lot of engagement and it is interesting how you elaborate and this game sucks to play and the story is a sick shit will never play
Why people keep buying these big companies' games? The moment I saw segmented pricing at day one and the base price was 59.99 I knew it was gonna be nothing more than a cashgrab. People need to learn self control, no they're not going to run out of game stock, you can still buy it 1 year later when it's on sale, you don't need to be a slave to FOMO
60 dollars is a fair price for a game. The problem here is that the game is not good so why should I pay full price. Games were much more expensive years ago. I paid 100 dollars for Wing Commander 2 . Now calculate inflation and games are much cheaper nowadays. I paid full price for RoboCop Rogue City and SpaceX Marine 2 to support the developers and the pricing is absolutely fair.
I'm playing it right now. And I think it's dope. I don't know why all the hate. Tattoine was sick. I did find her characterĺ a bit meh I suppose. If I really looked for it. I just think u guys hate the company. I'm not a big fan of them either. This is a good game that gets awesome halfway though
I agree once you hit Jabba missions. it really becomes alot of fun. Basically once your upgraded enough. Infiltrating so many imperial bases get a little stale, but there's side missions so you can switch it up. It's a solid 8 out of 10 for me. I think it gets hate since it's trendy to bash Ubisoft now. So content creators are just doing it for clicks...smh
I just found all the locking pick and swinging and climbing not my thing at all. I sent it back to Amazon. I prefer something like Battlefront 2 or the original Destiny before it went downhill. I don't like everything is becoming a subscription.
Star Wars Outlaws? An open world star wars game? Great game idea! How it was executed... ...we dont talk about that... HUMBLE UBISOFT (Make fun of them:MANDATORY)
Middling game with middling writing, middling game play, terrible AI and no real "point" to it. That it has done as well as it has is a minor miracle to be honest. & maybe that is because so few games of this cost even get made these days - people maybe expect more than they get I suspect.
I mostly agree with this video but he did not even get close to the indie side of the industry, which is absolutely booming with games like Terraria, lethal company and so many more that i cant even think of
The female centric everything - that’s what bugs me. Every main is feminine, bosses friend’s sources, sorry I’m a guy - want me to get more make it about a guy.
I watched an ok cop show until some point you could see a stark difference in writing. 95% now women are now the toughest, most badass , level headed ..etc characters everyone seeks advice from. 90 lbs tiny models beat up 250lbs baddies. It changed from ok cop drama to a caricature. If they needed a racist guess what it was a white " privileged" guy never a woman It's script writing with an ideology and "the message" It destroys the entertainment industry from within
I don't care about outlaws in the context of the video and I don't know how exactly it was made but it's obvious that author of the video doesn't know crap about the industry or haven't even worked in any of the large corporation (not necessarily gamedev). And don't get me wrong, I'm not advocating for youbeesoft, it rots from inside, but the video title is a clickbait.
I have to roll my eyes at anyone complaining that much about story. I couldn’t care much less about story. Games didn’t even used to have story. Gameplay is what makes or breaks a game. Your gameplay critique was much more meaningful, and I have to say, accurate.
You realize there are different sorts of games. Story focused, gameplay focused, focused on athmosphere. This game is marketed as a story driven game with open world gameplay both being at the core so it's fair to rate both as important. Btw the gameplay is so mediocre that I don't see how that part captures anyone compared to other games. Stealth is horrible bad , gunfights are castrated with loosing the second weapon soon and the blaster being just boring as the only weapon Imo the strongest point of the game is the environmental design explored with the speeder but that's simply not enough
Even if assassins creed shadows sells well and makes $400 million, Ubisoft will still be on borrowed time, before going under or being bought out, because of Star Wars outlaws and skull and bones failing MASSIVELY! Ubisoft will have to make over a billion dollars just to get back all the losses & I just don’t see it happening. Star Wars outlaws is the most mediocre game in 2024. Thank god I didn’t buy it.
With everything we know the new AC will also bomb. They forced near all talented developers out of Ubi as diverse for Ubisoft means all female / trans / nonbinary people and push political ideology into games developing . That's why they fail and it's the same for AC Shadows.
When mass effect 2 which came out in 2010 mind you,did characters, story, combat, side missions, and exploration better than you 😬😬 I’m pretty sure Star Wars inspired the mass effect series. Im no dev but when you create a game I think it’s important to look at your contemporaries who had success and try and emulate or build on there good foundation not regress lol
I think the reason they didn’t give Kay any good qualities was because she suffers from the same thing that every single modern female led movie suffers from: all men are bad, and the female lead is absolutely all powerful because she’s a woman, not because she learned anything.
In a game about the *seedy* underbelly of society, I have never seen a more naïve, dull, and *safe* protagonist.
@paleofolk i guess she didnt learn the phrase "fuck around and find out" cuz i guess she doesnt have a father...truly stereotypical of them.

Well thanks for the warning.
Outlaws is a game where you play as an "outlaw" who can't steal anything or hunt anything 🙄
HUMBLE UBISOFT
(Make fun of them:MANDATORY)
Middling game with middling writing, middling game play, terrible AI and no real "point" to it.
That it has done as well as it has is a minor miracle to be honest. & maybe that is because so few games of this cost even get made these days - people maybe expect more than they get I suspect.
I mostly agree with this video but he did not even get close to the indie side of the industry, which is absolutely booming with games like Terraria, lethal company and so many more that i cant even think of
Isn't Terraria like a decade old? Haha
@@jonny-b4954 my dude it outsold the original super mario bros
@@MalcolmBaldwin-b1v Isn't Mario, like, more than a decade old?
The female centric everything - that’s what bugs me. Every main is feminine, bosses friend’s sources, sorry I’m a guy - want me to get more make it about a guy.
same in far cry 6 as well. even calling a women master in ac mirage. the constant pandering is annoying now.
I watched an ok cop show until some point you could see a stark difference in writing. 95% now women are now the toughest, most badass , level headed ..etc characters everyone seeks advice from. 90 lbs tiny models beat up 250lbs baddies. It changed from ok cop drama to a caricature. If they needed a racist guess what it was a white " privileged" guy never a woman
It's script writing with an ideology and "the message" It destroys the entertainment industry from within
Indies are the future
I don't care about outlaws in the context of the video and I don't know how exactly it was made but it's obvious that author of the video doesn't know crap about the industry or haven't even worked in any of the large corporation (not necessarily gamedev).
And don't get me wrong, I'm not advocating for youbeesoft, it rots from inside, but the video title is a clickbait.
Also most outlets craped all over farcry 5 lol 😂 I love Farcry 5
Far Cry 5 was fun.. The last one was absolute dogshit though.
When is your star wars game coming out? So we can compare it with this one........
The game looks very primitive, like original Star wars galaxies
i’m so tired of the rebel alliance and empire thing
I have to roll my eyes at anyone complaining that much about story. I couldn’t care much less about story. Games didn’t even used to have story. Gameplay is what makes or breaks a game. Your gameplay critique was much more meaningful, and I have to say, accurate.
You realize there are different sorts of games. Story focused, gameplay focused, focused on athmosphere. This game is marketed as a story driven game with open world gameplay both being at the core so it's fair to rate both as important. Btw the gameplay is so mediocre that I don't see how that part captures anyone compared to other games. Stealth is horrible bad , gunfights are castrated with loosing the second weapon soon and the blaster being just boring as the only weapon
Imo the strongest point of the game is the environmental design explored with the speeder but that's simply not enough
If you think Ubisoft are going under I have some magic beans to sell you.
@@skippertheeyechild6621 I also said they're getting bought out, I still think it's over for Ubisoft anyway.
@@dhosea101 Please buy my magic beans
I mean, I haven’t even played the game yet I mean is it really that bad?
No its not that bad. If you like Star Wars and want to explore the planets and locations.
Love this content, better than that reaction crap
Another channel trying to gain views been a hater. Good job
I jst DONT support Ubisoft anymore.
I love OT Star Wars. I could not get past 5 hours of this game. The navigation is awful, she is a terrible character and I was so bored!
Gamers are sick of being force fed woke agendas. I don't care what anyone does in their life but don't force feed it down my throat.
Worst haircut we've ever seen in a video game...
Possible the most repetitve and boring game ever. And far too expensive gave up after about a quarter of the way through.
Waka smfh
Touch grass. I had fun.
LOL even at discounted price, i wouldn't buy it. Not interested
I think the reason they didn’t give Kay any good qualities was because she suffers from the same thing that every single modern female led movie suffers from: all men are bad, and the female lead is absolutely all powerful because she’s a woman, not because she learned anything.
A very disappointing game
I'm paying 15$ for starwars outlaws that's okay il wait
