@@TheDukesOfDerbyshire I presumed that was the case as the first hole was the only one where the Apex struggled. As a more expensive machine I watched the video to see if the ORX could find things the Apex couldn't. I guess the the way to do that would have been to locate quiet whispy signals with the ORX first then see if the Apex could find them. That's my suggestion for a follow up video anyway.
@@unclelep482 yes mate you are totslly right there, in this video I did not find anything at great depth. I'm confident the apex will pick up those deep ones though. The more I use it the more I will know. The ORX is still my go to machine though I can assure you
I have an apex but feel I am missing finds, how did you find it really on depth compared to the orx? Have watched your videos on the orx and how well it performs, would you recommend it over the apex? Would love a Deus 2 but sadly out of my price range, so that was why I was looking at the orx. Love the videos, enjoy them very much.👍
Hi Terry, I'm not a big fan of the Apex at all, it is OK and will find stuff, but the tones are dreary and very retro like an 80's arcade game. But it found stuff. ORX is a level above, but so is the price tag. I would pick ORX over Apex all day every day unless searching wet sand!! Hope this helps and thanks for watching. G
Hi Johnny I own the 9 inch HF and the 13 inch X35. I used the 9 inch for extremely steep hills and tight wooded areas (as the machine weighs almost nothing). The X35 I used on pasture. Great coils, great machine, I had 4 happy years with that machine. But I use the Deus2 now
@@TheDukesOfDerbyshire thx for the reply brother. I also have the Deus 2. My wife uses the simplex plus but I'm considering buying her the ORX. Was just trying to determine what would be the best coil for her. We usually hunt moderately trashy areas mostly for coins.

Good video mate been waiting see a comparison video of the orx and apex . Was wondering which one to buy think the orx is way better . The apex seems slow and laggy compared to the orx. All the best cheers buddy 👍
Hi mate, both machines performed really well, the ORX edged it though with nicer tones and consistant readings on the display. But the alex is £200 cheaper than the ORX. All depends on ya budget. Both will find stuff guaranteed. ORX still my number one though 😁🍺
Ayup mate, the ORX wins for me too mate but I was just interested to see how the machines compare. Not a fan of the signals on the apex but it finds the goods thats for sure
Hey Corey, thank you for the ever so kind words. Can't go wrong with an Apex, will certsinly find the coins and they work great on wet sand. Only downfall for me is the tones. But as with anything you get used to them. Take it easy

She's not putting on much weight and has had numerous hospital visits and blood tests etc. But shes just naturally skinny like her mama 😁 I would pick the ORX all day - nicer tones, consistant readings on the display, runs quiet, a lot lighter. But the apex definitely works and I hear they are very good on wet sand

Hi, thanks very much for visiting my channel, for watching this video and for leaving me your kind words. Both great machines for the price. I am not the biggest fan of the tones of the Apex, but I guess that is because I am used to the XP tones. Thanks again and I hope to see you on some of my 300 other metal detecting videos. Gareth
Nice video, mate. Keep Digging!
Cheers buddy, lots more to comd from me 😁🍺
Definitely i like the ORX .... I wear all day the same rubber band from NOKTA MAKRO hahaha it last forever .. Very strong material ... By the way excellent video ..
🤣🤣🤣 they do last forever don't they 🤣 had mine on nearly a year and its not begun to fade or anything. Cheers Yuri my friend 😁🍺
Lovely fields you got there mate a far cry from what mine look like this time of year they look more like cotton fields with the amount of lambs and ewes.
Great day on the coins mate top hunting 👍 good to see the NobleMDT spade doing the business 💪
Ayup mate, cheers yeah its a lovely spot but rarely find anythin other than pre decimals on here, I've hunted this place dry over the years. Oh aye Noble MDT doin bits mate
half a crown 1948 You'd probably get into pictures for that and chips on the way home.
Hey Dickie haha yes you could certainly get a lot more for your money back then. Costs me about £25 for a chippie tea now to feed my family. How times change
Прекрасное видео, комрад! Привет тебе из России.
Hello & Greetings to you, thank you for tuning in and watching my video. I have made many more videos since this one. I hope to see you on another episode. Peace.
@@TheDukesOfDerbyshire for sure. So, based on your video, I bought today garett ace apex, because want to search some coins and etc. Usually (last 8 years) I search relics from WW2. So in your video I see like you getting pleasure from nature and searching process. It's same like in Russia in my expeditions for digging. Video is absolutely brilliant, thank you! I also will look your another videos.
@@WW2Expeditions APEX is a great machine, the only thing I do not like is the tones / sounds. Yes I love the nature and to be outdoors in the wilderness. It is where I am happiest. Thank you for your kind words
The dual in the Dales.
That is a very good title mate 🤣 This is a cool video, lots and lots of work went into this one 🔥
Can u delay the video till about 8:30 air duke . I’ll be out detecting
@@HistoryRevisiteduk haha no, have a beer / rolley break and watch on ya fone? 🤣 My channel runs like clockwork 7pm vids 🕖
@@TheDukesOfDerbyshire haha sounds great 👍🏻
Great vid as usual. Can I ask: which machine were you initially finding the targets with ? Cheers
Thats a good question. Mainly the apex because its the heavier machine. But I did locate some with the orx too
@@TheDukesOfDerbyshire I presumed that was the case as the first hole was the only one where the Apex struggled.
Hello m8😀 what frequency and recovery speed you used in XP ORX?
Hello there buddy, I use my ORX on the standard factory setting Coin Fast 😁
What coil do you use on your ORX?
@@dirt_tones Simplex is a decent machine for the money but I'd say an XP ORX is a much more refined machine with superior audio and obviously much lighter - which in this day n age seems to be a very attractive attribute. You are welcome, thank you for tuning into my channel, I hope to see you again :)
@@TheDukesOfDerbyshire definitely. New sub here brother. Keep the vids coming.
@@dirt_tones thank you, I really appreciate that and always welcome new subscribers. I am working really hard on my channel at the moment, I will always take the time to reply to people who take time out of their day to watch and to leave me some feedback. Its awesome 😁
Gareth nice mate 👍 Beautiful spot and You think be a sovereign dropped along that horse and cart track somewhere maybe 🤔🍻
That is why I keep going back mate, has to be somewhere surely. Cheers mate 🍺
Old the bumps be old ant mounds?
Hi Mike thats a good suggestion, they do remind me of anthills. Also a lot of times I dig holes on here I uncover an ant nest 🤣
Apex is a great beach detector i think this is where is shines the most.
Hi there, thanks so much for visiting my channel and for watching this video. Yeah I bet the APEX is awesome on wet sand, where as the ORX is rubbish on wet sand. Hope to see you on some of my 300 other metal detecting videos
Cracking video. XP ORX won that for me. Be lucky 🤞🏻
Cheers mate, XP will always win, sweeter tones, more consistant ID's. Just a better machine all round but obvs costs a lot more than the apex
Merci beaucoup
Hello bonjour, thanks so much for visiting my channel and watching my video. The Garrett Apex is an OK machine, but I would look at XP, Minelab or Nokta machines. They are much better. I hope this helps
Half crown = 12.5p but yes, 30d when 240d to the £.
Hi Gareth, thats it mate ya bang on the money. High on my bucket list to find is a full crown, I cannot find one for love nor money. Must of been difficult to lose such a big chunk of a coin
What a place to be mate so peaceful love to penny on surface. Great vid wish more was done like that real comparison would lov to see simplex against orx. I do have few clips up now of some finds an one vid liam kindly edited for me. Ya break that no silver next hunt mate 👍👍
Hi Paul, an ORX vs Simplex video is in the pipeline mate. This permission is such a nice scenic spot with my kinda terrain - rugged and hilly. I have explored it all and had some great finds over the years 😁
@@TheDukesOfDerbyshire cool love to see that as i use simplex now since December i have found some nice stuff with it loads of bucket lister got a cannon ball yesterday an the amazing vickys one silver one farthing i post my stuff on simplex owners group u should join up see what i find lol as not all is on vid atm
Nice video mate. Both orx and Apex did ok. I'd say Orx won but only just. Both good solid machines 👌 thanks for the special mention too, brung a tear to the eye 😘
I agree mate not a lot between them but the ORX just a bit mkre stable, sweeter tones n stuff. Perhaps the update and Raider coil will sort it. And you are very welcome mate
ORX, in my opinion, better construction and less weight. It's important. Because if you not tied after many hours then you have a more treasure.
Brilliant video as usual, the ORX still has the edge but good comparison between detectors I am more impressed with the Apex this video, keep up the good work 👍
Cheers Stephen, yes I agree the ORX is much more stable. There is a new update for the apex and I do have a new coil so perhaps I will repeat this experiment 😁
@@TheDukesOfDerbyshire great idea & interested to see that 👍
@@DaveV173 How about a Deus2 / APEX comparison? 😄
Banging video gareth .. the apex did we but as I'm an orx user it wins hands down as a detector
Good comparison video m8 👍
Ayup mate, the ORX wins for me too mate but I was just interested to see how the machines compare. Not a fan of the signals on the apex but it finds the goods thats for sure
Great video Gareth.. my apex found 9g of 18k gold cuff link the other day 51 mid tone in coins and mf......
Hi Melvin, thank you. Oh very nice find, gold cufflink sounds lovely well found mate
Nice video very good
Cheers Gaz thanks, it was hard work carrying both machines around with me all day but I really enjoyed putting this video together 😁
Love ya videos mate, awesome stuff! got me inspires again and im gonna buy an apex :)
Hey Corey, thank you for the ever so kind words. Can't go wrong with an Apex, will certsinly find the coins and they work great on wet sand. Only downfall for me is the tones. But as with anything you get used to them. Take it easy
She's looking like a happy one...better that than her crying all the time!
I've had friends not get a wink of sleep since their kidda's were born for up to and beyond 3 years old...bugger that!
Nice comparison, however, which would you go for out of the two...or, is it a case of it depends...and if so, what does it depend on?
good vid once again tho 👍
Mila is a very chilled out baby most of the time. She sleeps from 10pm till 5am every day and has been for several weeks. We feel very lucky. She's not putting on much weight and has had numerous hospital visits and blood tests etc. But shes just naturally skinny like her mama 😁
I would pick the ORX all day - nicer tones, consistant readings on the display, runs quiet, a lot lighter. But the apex definitely works and I hear they are very good on wet sand
@@TheDukesOfDerbyshire oooo....wet sand :)
May be handy if I ever went back to the home town tomvisit the folks 😁
We had a similar experience with ours. Was an awesome sleeper and has been ever since.
Have they checked to see whether your little'un may have tongue tie?
It can sometime prevent them from using their tongue properly resulting in them not being able to eat as quickly or as much before they give up.
If she's happy enough in herself though, I shouldn't worry about it too much 👍
Half crown = 2/6 (30d) equivalent 12.5p decimal
Thats is mate I always say 30 old pence. Such a shame it wasn't 2 years older and 50% silver
BRING - IT - ON ! 😊👍🍻
Some serious man hours gone into this one mate, even I'm excited to watch the finished article 😁🍺

Hi mate , nice video my friend and a good comparison between the two , i am glad the Apex held it's own because it has been getting some bad press dont know why ? and the one way signals are always a bit of a mystery only happens now and again on the Teknetics and it's usually crap 😂 but you never know 🤔 , baby is looking grand mate ATB Rob
Hi mate, yes I have heard lots of bad reviews regarding the apex. I don't think Garrett quite got this machine right, already theres been a firmware update which migh resolve a few things. But it finds stuff, but then so does the Simplex at half the price
What number was the can. Lol
Haha Steve I did not notice but it would be a big number I suspect 😁
First target is being descrimed out, coin mode rejects low IDs
Hello and greetings, thank you so much for taking the time to watch this video. I made this video well over a year ago so I can't really remember the outcomes. I'm pretty sure both machines performed very well. I'm now on to the XP Deus 2 and have done a similar comparison between the Deus 2 and Nokta Simplex. Thanks again and I hope to see you on some of my many other metal detecting adventures

I love the comparison video you made, they both work fantastic! I always seemed to favor the round coil over the other style...did you like one over the other?
Place must still have tons of coins if you can find them on the surface...just Incredible.
Cheers Mate from NJ USA ❤👍😷🙏
Hi mate, I started detecting this place 3 years ago, I have had hundreds if not thousands of finds - mainly pre decimal George V. Finds are few n far between but like you say theres still stuff there. Thanks as always for your awesome comments 😁🍺
god look at the size of the holes plus sort ot out no need for sutch big plugs .
You won't be sayin that when you wrap your spade round a £5,000 gold coin 🤣🤣🤣 Soil in the UK is soft, if you don't dig big plugs, cows will pull them out. You should always respect the landowner or you lose permissions
ORX 👍
Hi there, thanks so much for visiting my channel and for taking time out your day to watch this video. The ORX is an amazing metal detector, it has found me 4 gold coins and a gold FOB seal since owning it - my most successful machine
wrong detectors to compare the ORX has twice the frequencies and is more expensive then the ace apex. It is a no brainer of which one performs a little better.
Well these are the only machines I own other than the Simplex. Perhaps I will do a Simplex / Apex comparison. The whole point of this was to prove a cheaper machine works as well as a more expensive machine. Just a bit a fun really
@@TheDukesOfDerbyshire oh okay I got you the apex is a great machine especially with the new 1.28.1 update applied. Are you using the update on the apex? Huge difference in the machine compared to the default apex.
@@ThEOuTdOoRGuRu-JW this video was made with the standard firmware and Viper coil. I have upgraded the firmware and fitted the Raider coil, took it out last week and it was a much more enjoyable machine to use. However I still absolute hate the tones. I used an AT Pro for 4 years, tones on that were beautiful, best machine I've ever used. The Apex is growing on me now, its always frustrating picking up a new machine, its like starting from square one again
@@TheDukesOfDerbyshire yeah I hear that, I was a long time at pro user and max user been using garret machines for ever the problem is they were limited by not having multi frequency lol which caused a lot of headaches now that we have multiple - flex Its a game changer for garret. The tones never really bothered me unless I was wearing the ms-3 headphones and got a loud solid signal ha ha!! Would be nice to get an update to have the old at pro tones. Yeah I use the standard coil on mine im gonna get the ripper coil for the ace. Raider coil is that like a sniper coil?
@@ThEOuTdOoRGuRu-JW yeah that would be ace to have the AT Pro tones. The Raider coil looks almost identical the the standard coil on the AT Pro. I was not a fan of the Viper coil at all. I am patiently waiting the a Garrett AT Pro APEX 🔥🔥🔥
as an experienced orx user, coin fast is a waste potential option. MANY MISSING signals compared to coin deep
Thats interesting because, also as an experienced ORX user I found Coin Deep to be unuseable on the pasture fields I detect. Coin Fast far more suitable and user friendly. But I know different programs work better for some people and on different terrains. My finds on Coin Fast speak for themselves, hundreds of silver coins, 4 gold coins, dozen or so silver hammered and the gold FOB seal. By far my most successful machine 😄 Thanks for tuning in and leaving your feedback, it is very much appreciated. I hope to see you on another episode
