Lynch saying that the character who has the learning disability, is a very “special soul.” Instead of fixating on that he’s like “there’s more to her than that, she’s just a character who happens to have a learning disability.” How sweet.

Haut Strange yeah I agree. Whenever I see Jay Leno conducting an interview, he always irks me. For lack of a better word, he comes off as kind of a tool. Almost like he’s the ultimate corporate yes man. It’s more noticeable when he interviews Lynch. I think at least for me and perhaps other fans, what we enjoy so much about David Lynch is his sincerity and straightforwardness. There are a lot of people out there who consider him to be pretentious, but when you watch him in interviews you realize that he’s just a simple guy who loves being an artist. He wholly embraces himself. Jay Leno is kind of the antithesis of that.

He's maybe a little esoteric but he explains his ideas and feelings very clearly and is extremely earnest in all his endeavors. Like, I was really interested in the mouse trap! I wanted to hear David's explanation, not listen to Jay make 10 cracks in a row without actually admitting that it's a pretty impressive contraption all things considered.
