On the flip side, I had surgery for a broken leg. Fib/tib fracture. A rod and 3 screws were installed by a surgeon at the hospital. I went to a hospital that was supposedly “in network” but the surgeon doesn’t take insurance. He billed my insurance and was paid $3500. Years later, he sends me a bill for $45,000. Seems excessive, doesn’t it?
Just had a physical. I’d say I was in the room with the doctor for about 12 minutes. Which is probably what happens now that I’ve learned they have to keep 1000 patients on the roll.

Insurance is a scam.
Thanks for this amazing insight, Doc. Really appreciate you taking the time to educate the public on this upsetting issue.
This was useful... i didn't realize accepting insurance was such a nightmare. We really should just make insurance illegal and go back to paying cash.
