    I love the naming scheme for the space ships, please let the end game titans be theory class ships like relativity and gravity.
    Other ship pitches include
    Axiom class: fixed location defense craft because in war the first step is to protect the ground you have, and axiom is fancy nerd talk for base assumption.
    Law class: calling something a theory is arguably the highest level an idea can aspire to in science, but laws are the underlying maths that gets shit done. The workhorse of the late game navy.

  • @1509Freeze

    I really had a good experience with titans. Heavy Plasma Nose for 4 slots plus a heavy Coil Battery. The 4 slot plasma has the alpha damage to go through most armor on lighter ships and disables drives and weapons with only a few hits.
    By the time these ships get into 4 slot coil battery range, they have become easy targets and get cleaned up by a few coil hits. Often by that time the plasma already can engage targets further back if correct primary targets are selected, softening them up for the coils when they come into range. Surving heavy ships are usually isolated and overwhelmed at that point. Plasma only needs so much focus fire and a lot of damage gets mitigated by armor. With the combo of long range-medium damage plasma, mid range-heavy damage coil larger fleets scale very well.
    Oh, and you have space for 4 phaser pds as well, solving that problem. 4slot plasma nos, 4 slot coil battery, rest is pd. The coils also have the nice effect that enemy lasers will focus on them rather than your armor, same with enemy platforms.

    Academy main fleet i'm running in 2041 : Formation tight, High Wall, archer, Wing - 2800 kps Delta-V
    18 Titans (2 heavy plasma + 2 point defense) long range
    3 Dreadnoughts (1 heavy plasma + 4 point defense + 3 nose small phasers) medium range
    With this formation and design setup i have the point defense heavy Dreadnoughts in the middle, perfect to counter the massive waves of mag ammo and missiles.
    So far only one Dread lost (it had a previous design with less pd), 4/6 Alien Mothership 8-10K fleets and 80% of space station/shipyards have been destroyed. Total fleet balance 38k vs 30k i'm close to 50%-50%, only one alien mining base remaining (the final outpost i can't nuke it lol)
    Secondary fleet has same composition but 1800 kps Delta-V and split into Titans duos guarding Mercury, Earth, Mars and Ganymede with the remaining fleet in Earth orbit ready to transfer to one of the duos if reinforcement are needed. This remaining fleet also take care of alien rebuilding bases or the human faction attempts.
    Maybe it's a little overkill but i'm only using 320 mission point total and anyway the Aliens need to understand Humanity under the lead of Academy is the dominant species in the Solar System.
    Something strange about this run : the aliens didn't really attack my space bases, maybe because i started the full war by nuking 1/3 of their mining bases quite quickly, they were almost retreating/reorganizing for a moment, also it was 0.3.27, in 0.3.35 they seem to be more aggressive.
    Thanks for the episode !

    Regarding Plasma the Heavy Plasma Battery mk3 has a dmp of 35.25; the Heavy Plasma Cannon mk3 a dpm of 45.9 while the normal Plasma Cannon mk 3 has a dpm of 43.125.
    As you can see a dreadnought with 2 Heavy Plasma Battery mk3s and 3 Green Phaser Cannons has a dpm of 70.5+3*60 = 250.5; while a dreadnought with 1 Heavy Plasma Battery mk3, 2 Green Phaser Batteries, 2 Point Defense Phasers and 1 Plasma Cannon mk3 is 35.25 + 2*30 + 43.125 = 138.375.
    These values apply only at short range where the Phasers can mostly ignore armor; however, when you compare only long range capability the dreadnought variants have a dpm of 75.5 and 78.375 respectively with the second having a much better point-defense capability. This is in case anyone was interested in a numerical analysis of the pro's and con's attributed to the two designs.

    Idk if u are doing this at all, but i saw that one strategy for these mega India/chinese states which have 100k Bn or 200k Bn GDP is going all eco priority and using money to direct invest in funding. Which scales with GDP i believe. So with ur insanely huge GDP, u could use a few thousand cash to boost ur funding income which could mitigate alot of ur late game cash upkeep sinks.
    TLDR: The greater the GDP the more u get in funding, pairs well with using that money to reinvest in funding and make more.

When u pump eco, ur science output scales upwards with it. 2 birds 1 stone. Once u start getting tech finished, u can use projects for trading with other factions. Tech to the AI is highly valuable. They will pay a lot for a single project. So use that money to pump funding which will greatly increase monthly funds. So now u have a high gdp, high scoence, and multiple money makers. Which then can be pumped into any priority. Knowledge and MC are my favs. Get funding high enough and u can easily just make the initiative look poor. Because of this, the academy can get richer than the initiative due to being more science Inclined. (More projects to sell)

    Space science is just faster to get. My first win in Terra Invicta I didn't have any research stations, just the low orbit bonus %s. With United NA, EU+Russia, China+Malaysia, & India I had over 68k science per month with only one research pipped. I ended up avoiding knowledge since it was ultra annoying having the repeatables being the only thing left to research and having it pop up multiple times a month.

    Make a ship with mk3 ECM and no pd at all with like 100 front armour. Put at least 4 of those boys vs an alien fleet in skirmish. 4 ECM will delete missile swarms regardles of their size and 100 armor with a few repairbays will eat any mags and plasma. This way you can use all the weapon slots for actual weapons: 2 coilgun batteries + 1 nosecoilgun + small nose coilgun is gonna create an impossible bullethell for them. Just make sure to use mk3 coilguns mk2 is MUCH weaker
    Edit: NVM ECM does not work in skirmish on aliens... ig cause you need the tech wellp maybe you bite the bullet try in the campain or you see how well it works vs a human faction in skirmish

    Is a small maneuvering ship rly less effective than something that can take a million hits but is super expensive?

    • @redvenge709
      @redvenge709 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The ship building system in Terra Invicta is fairly complex. There is also the tactical and strategic elements as well. Larger ships carry more fuel. With efficient engines, this generally means they can travel huge distances between the planets and still have fuel to operate at their destination and return to their original launch point if needed. Bigger ships are, generally, better for long distance invasions. Later game, you have to deal with plasma weapons. Plasma cannot be intercepted or dodged. Only armor stops plasma. As the aliens develop bigger plasma weapons and concentrate into larger fleets, you will lose smaller ships unless they are heavily armored, which drastically reduces their performance. You also need to factor in the cost of Exotic materials and Anti-matter, which is difficult to obtain in large quantities until the mid to late game. Exotics and Anti-matter unlock most of your powerful and effective space technologies.
      TL;DR large ships are a more versatile investment of rare resources and time until you are established. At which point, it does not matter, so keep going big for continued versatility.

    • @CountingStars333
      @CountingStars333 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Id say large big dv boats for attack but supplemented by cheap zero exotics smaller pd boats for defense ?

    • @redvenge709
      @redvenge709 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@CountingStars333 What stage of the game are you going to build those smaller pd ships?
      Early, when the armor and weapons you have available are insufficient unless you build in large numbers, thus necessitating a need for massive extra planetary mining to keep up with your losses (mining infrastructure that you don't have).
      Middle, when the aliens switch to plasma, rendering your pd boats obsolete.
      Late, when your tech and weaponry simply steamroll anything except a mothership in terms of ship for ship quality, and you'vre already gained space superiority over the aliens.
      Perun does a lot of edits so he does not really show it, but TIME is your most valuable resource. It's why he builds colony ships (reduces the time to build further from outposts). His ship building space stations have multiple, high tier ship yards to speed the process. He builds stations at critical locations to refuel, repair and allows him to build closer to the front, to reduce travel times. If you have to constantly replace losses from your relatively poorly armored small vessels, your fleets move slower as you wait for reinforcements. As Perun has pointed out, larger ships have more utility slots and can equip heavier armor with less efficiency loss. They have better survivability, which allows you to "snowball" faster, rather than needing more shipyards to maintain fleet strength AND grow fleet strength. You end up spending more on infrastructure, which takes time to build.
      Always make efficient use of larger ship designs when your economy permits. If you need PD boats as a stop-gap while the aliens are switching to plasma, use cruiser or dreanought hulls, so you can refit them into main line warships or seige vessels when the aliens eventually go full plasma. Small ships fair poorly against plasma, as both the Humanity First and Academy series on this channel can attest to.
