      HR case so heartbreaking. The death of the mother and child is heartbreaking but what happened to HR is also. I honestly think I've done 1 or 2 different things crazier and more irresponsible than he did that night but managed not to hurt anyone. I know I'm not a bad person and I know I'd never intentionally hurt a mother and her child and it's hard for me to say why I did those things. I feel like HR was being extremely stupid that night.

      @@mansamusa7927 The meaning of the term "friend" can vary depending on one's personal definition. According to my own definition, a friend is someone who must meet certain criteria. Like stopping someone from drinking and driving. Anyone who falls short of these criteria cannot be considered a true friend. An acquaintance or buddy, for instance, is not the same as a friend by my definition. In fact, a friend is someone who is even more important than family because while you can't choose your family, you can choose your friends.

Will they be Strong Enough to tell you No when you are Wrong? And to Coach Saban's Point Are you Strong Enough to Tell your friends No, when you need to Say no. Good Message for Everyone Coach. So Sorry for Henry that there was no one there to tell him No--Don't Drive!!

    Facts. Nick Saban is the best

  • @jamiejohnson3886
    @jamiejohnson3886 2 ปีที่แล้ว +139

    Yes his friends & the establishment allowed him to continue to drink when they knew how drunk he was. That said Ruggs bears responsibility for his actions; we all know driving while intoxicated is wrong. Yet like Pete Golding it continues. Sometimes we have to step up for ourselves.
    Taking the keys away from someone when you know they are drunk as well as taking responsibility for yourself is important
    Either way my heart bleeds for the family of Tina Tinter. My heart however also bleeds for Henry Ruggs. He is one of ours.
    I lost my sister in 1982 due a head on collision due to a drunk driver crossing a median. Sad that 40 years later people think it's okay. It's not

    • @joshuaturk3678
      @joshuaturk3678 ปีที่แล้ว

      It’s not always that people think it’s okay . A lot of people when they drink black out and don’t know what they’re doing or have no thought process. His friends 100% should have been by his side the whole time and made sure everything was okay. I know not a single one of my buddies would let me in my car with a sip of alcohol in my system. So sad , sad world we live in. Prayers for all families involved 😭

    • @jamiejohnson3886
      @jamiejohnson3886 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@joshuaturk3678 you are absolutely correct; most of us have friends who have our backs & apparently Henry did not. As for the blacking out, unless someone has undiagnosed epilepsy & suffered their first seizure or had a head injury there's always a reason to black out
      Point is that we all know not to drink & drive. People do it anyway. And yes as you mentioned one may not be aware of anything if they blackout. If though one blacks out after drinking.....well nice try
      Of course it would say if you blacked out you didn't mean to do it but if you blacked out after drinking you are still legally responsible. Henry Will get jail time - probably stands a good chance of losing his football career; if we were to ask him today if he meant to kill Ms Tinted, I'm sure he'd tell you no. But like my sister, she's still dead.

      But when you see so.eone intoxicated, why didn't they take the keys away from him to stop him from driving? I get the drinking part is a choice, but to know the dangers of drinking and driving and how it can impair someone, all those other people could've stopped him whether he liked it or not. Now, he ruined his life and the families of those who died by his driving. They were "yes men," not his friends.

    Bro some of y’all are just so smooth brained in these comments, he is not saying Ruggs was right, he is saying sometimes it takes having the right individuals around you that won’t allow you to commit to this behavior that led to the situation that happened. He is saying a real friend would not have allowed Ruggs to drive, yes Ruggs made that decision but anybody that has gone drinking with friends understands some people make idiotic decisions when under the influence.

    A lot of remorse and sorrow for Ruggs - don’t hear much for the innocent girl who burned to death in her car. Not denying what Saban is saying, but it seems everyone is crying crocodile tears for a guy “who could have been a great football player.” A career ended is nothing compared to the life he ended.

      You completely miss the point. Do you hear Saban dismissing personal responsibility? He is addressing being a leader and a good teammate. Two different topics, and not mutually exclusive. Thus: Had others been leaders and confronted the lack of personal responsibility in another, they may have prevented tragedy.

    This hurts much more now than when it first aired. Henry Riggs is in prison now 3 years minimum and maybe more. Yes there needs to be more preventative measures to stop this from happening. But it hurts when you coached a great guy minus one huge huge mistake.

    Nick Saban, one hell of a man! These boys in college need to hear this to become men! Give some broke kids millions and hope for the best... expect kids to make mens decisions... who's at fault?

      We still have to be accountable for our own decisions. What Nick is saying is when your brother is not making the wrong decision be your brothers keeper. Be a leader that title is unpopular, hard, and lonely.
