Hey Folks. This is the 2018 B9 S4 here. Couple things. The M340i had no back seat. Not sure if that was mentioned in the video. Additionally, my car (in the digs) was never able to to get above 2500 RPM at launch. With this platform, 3000RPM (or higher) is optimal. Presently, the car cuts a sub 3.0 second 0-60, a 6.89 second 1/8th, and a 6.59 second 100-200km/h. Times are uploaded to dragy under gta_audi. At the end, when I did a casual dig with the M3 Comp and launched at 3000RPM, I took his car. The M340i declined that race. This being said, the BMW is an extremely fast car and can be built faster and for less compared to a B9. A race running E60 to E70 all around would be much more interesting. Fun day, and thanks to Sam for hosting a great event!
Your car does NOT have 534 wheel horsepower. Your car is doing the same times as my stage 2 93 RON map 034 S4 which will have 470-480 CRANK horsepower. You're absolutely and utterly deluded.
@@SSH939 what Porsche or R8 are you getting for 110k CAD. I've been on auto trader and even the base 911s cost 160k cad +, r8s are like over 200k now. Maybe an old high mileage V8 R8 or a old 991 or 997 Carrera which imo are worse options than a brand new 2023 M3 for that money

I was there that day. The S4 has a turbo upgrade. It was taking time to spool the turbos. I think he could have done a better job, but the car had the highest trap speed among the three cars. It was a slow day for times, but he managed a 11.0 at 128mph if I recall correctly. But the Bimmers were sling shots off the hole for sure!
11.0s at 128mph sounds right with 530~ whp. Per video, the S4 did 3.6s for 0-60 and 11.3x for 1/4 miles. It should have done like 3.0 and 11 respectively
B58 is definitely not designed to be the Beast its big brother is. But it’s a hell of a near 2JZ replacement enough for Toyota to cowardly have it put it in its Supra instead of retooling and bringing back the 2JZ. Toyota and Lexus will never catch up to Porsche, BMW and other Bad-A Beasts! 😂

@@Thicc340 can’t do burnouts there. Launched the same both times but was very late on first launch, you just can’t see in the vid. M3 says “preparing launch” and then active. I didn’t time it well the first time and waited for it to be active to go

That M3 seemed like it was shifting slowly. I had that happen with JB4 on my X3M… the difference between a flash tune and JB4 would be huge for that M3
I’m the M3 owner. You can see on the roll we were even - His car is really quick but has a lot of lag from the turbo it’s hard to time it with the countdown to be in boost. He is on a TTE turbo it’s a great matchup 👊
The S4 was wildly inconsistent here - either driver or car problems. Roll race #2 was about what to expect. Swapping drivers is a bad idea for consistency.

Good runs! The turbo lag in the S4 is bad it seems, cause it definitely seems like the faster car if it didnt have the lag. Also, I hear the Dragy Meter app voice so it'd be cool to see the actual time slips from Dragy for the 60ft./Gforce

I love mine…. I am keeping mine stock for warranty purposes. I think it’s fast enough for street driving. I’ll just buy something faster if I need it. Maybe a 911 turbo s.

Is the M340i’s speed limiter topped at 130MPH? I understand newer ones have either top speed or 130MPH or 155MPH with the cooling package and tires. Usually the ones with the black wheels are topped at 130MPH. This is probably why it dies out quicker hitting higher speeds.
My m340i has black wheels and it's limited to 155mph. The limiter is set to whichever tires you get. Performance tires = 155mph..... All season tires = 130mph. You do NOT have to get Cooling and High Performance Tire Package to top out at 155mph.
I bought a 540i a week ago and it has the gen 1 b58 but it’s around the same weight as the 2020 m340i so if I upgrade the gen 1 to a gen 2 TU pump with a stage 2 tune and a dp and an xhp stage 3 would I be pushing around the same numbers and time?
Very close to it, yet still heavier. Definitely get lighter wheels and if you have run flats ditch those and get Michelin PS4s, much better and lighter tire, and reacts quicker.

What I saw is that the Audi has a horrible turbo lag, you can see how the power in both BMW’s kick in almost immediately, crazy for being a turbocharged car, I personally hate turbo lag
All those mods in the S4 just to get clapped by an M340i on Imperial Ecosport 2 tires . The B58 and S58 are no joke and I own both. B58 will always be the best bang for buck and sounds incredible.

My heavier a6 with fbo, ported blower, and small shot of nitrous runs 10.04 at 137 without nitrous it runs 10.52 at 132 and without nitrous I should be making roughly what he does to the wheels 😂 why is my heavier a6 with same power significantly faster .

S4 definitely has more than just an intake an tune. An intake an tune on an S4 wouldn’t even make 400whp, needs upgraded turbo to break into the 500whp+ category

Even stock the Audi 3.0t has bad lag down low completely opposite of b58 which moves the second u breathe on it. So with upgraded turbo I could see he had real bad lag n couldn’t hook for shit. The s4 is really the quicker car then the m340 tho ina roll and trapping in the 1/4.

Agree. My b8.5 S4 with 93 Stage 1 tune and an intake ran 12.06@ 113.5. With two kid seats in the back. I swapped to the 340i now though for b58 deliciousness.
Wonder if the S4 driver was launching correctly. Should be putting better times that that down. My Stage 2 with basic bolt ons on 91 octane and 2,000+DA runs a 3.6 0-60 and mid to high 11s. With ~400whp and 460wtq. Same basic bolt ons and a simple swith to E85 is ~430whp and 530wtq and its low 3s 0-60 and low 11s 1/4 full weight. A stage 3 car with a Pure750 or TTE810 is mid to low 10s and should be ahead of that G80. Since hes claiming those power figures in that S4 on 94, hes running a hybrid turbo, and should be much quicker than my Stage 2 stock turbo.

Let me start by not taking anything from those BMWs absolutely amazing cars especially to the way they are and they really smoked it. That being said plenty of guys with the same hardware that as far as running have run low threes to high twos and zero 60 I was watching him make so many shifting mistakes with the paddle shifters that are relying on the automatic transmission like the other two were doing and he was slow off the line every time Get it together!
issue is the m340i is great but the turbo is meant for low end torque and not top end HP. Falls on its face up top but still a great car. Even tuned with downpipe they still get 30mpg while making 500 wheel
Calling BS on that S4 WHP. What turbo? Those are higher numbers than a Stage 3 TTE710/810 build with a horrible 0-60 and 1/4. That should be a sub 3 second S4 low 10. 034 93 Stage 1 will do better than that 500+ WHP S4 lol. Basically any S4 stage 1 tune will.
Never heard of YD motorsport so I looked them up (the tuning company used for the S4) They seem to specialize in BMW and Mercedes from what their site shows. Seems like an odd choice for an Audi owner. I saw the M3 is running PS4S, the Audi is on Conti's DWS 06 Plus (a good tire I use them for my winter wheels on my own 2018 S4-I use PS4S for the warm months) and the M340 is being run on a budget with budget brand front tires and Michelin PS4S on the rear it looks like. Considering that the Audi was left sitting on the start line in the drags and seemed to be slow on the roll races to come on I wonder if his tuner did anything to the transmission tuning? Also, if he had a turbo upgrade like someone else in the comments said he has, why is his car down on power compared to box tunes from 034 and IE? Even a TTE710 would net numbers closer or above 600 in hp and tq to the wheels from either tuner and he would have been able to have the trans tuned too. I see them using the paddles in the S4 the ZF trans would probably be better at shifting than they were with the paddles if it was tuned correctly. I am a service advisor for a BMW dealership. I also own a 2018 S4 stage 2 034 E-85 tuned car. Something just seems off about the Audi. Not trying to take away from the punch the M3 or the M340 have here. They are both great cars.
Dang I said I would get an m340i next but ended up getting an e63s amg instead. Seeing how the b58 performs makes me rethink if I should have stayed focus on getting the m340i
depends, the E class is larger and the v8 has an amazing character. I came from a C63S to a M340i but it feels slow after getting used to 510hp. I heard the b58 wakes up with a downpipes and tune. Can't wait to tune it but in the back of my head I keep thinking maybe I should have bought a G90 M5.
@@tubejorrit yeah the e63 is a beast. I bought a dragy just to test out my 1/4, stock it does 11.7@121. After some research the best bang for your buck with the M157 engine is doing an E85 tune only. That would get me over 700whp.
Audi driver error on the launches? Audi did well in roll-races and should've done very well with Quattro launch-control - something is way off with that tune!
No video is for every person. This one is not for me. I don't really understand the point of pitting 3 tuned cars against each other. I mean...the highest tuned one will win. Done... Stock cars against each other are interesting because they are isolated to the criterion of being stock. For example, the M3 comp has ~500whp stock (not chp). So this one has a VERY light tune on it. It can put down 800whp with a tune only. My point is: racing tuned turbo cars is arbitrary. The most tuned one wins. Fin. I'm not realistically choosing between these exact tuned cars, so the information doesn't really apply to anything useful for me = not very interesting. Not sure how well I've explained that... Not that anyone will read this or care :).
Driver from audi is sleepy or didnt't know to launch properly his own car when racing against comparable cars. Bmw drivers knows what's about launching.

Is the M340i’s speed limiter topped at 130MPH? I understand newer ones have either top speed or 130MPH or 155MPH with the cooling package and tires. Usually the ones with the black wheels are topped at 130MPH. This is probably why it dies out quicker hitting higher speeds.

My m340i has black wheels and it's limited to 155mph. The limiter is set to whichever tires you get. Performance tires = 155mph..... All season tires = 130mph. You do NOT have to get Cooling and High Performance Tire Package to top out at 155mph.
As an Owner of a 2018 Audi S4 I can tell you that dude does not know how to launch it 😂smh . Those M340s tho sheesh 👀

I bought a 540i a week ago and it has the gen 1 b58 but it’s around the same weight as the 2020 m340i so if I upgrade the gen 1 to a gen 2 TU pump with a stage 2 tune and a dp and an xhp stage 3 would I be pushing around the same numbers and time?
Very close to it, yet still heavier. Definitely get lighter wheels and if you have run flats ditch those and get Michelin PS4s, much better and lighter tire, and reacts quicker.

What I saw is that the Audi has a horrible turbo lag, you can see how the power in both BMW’s kick in almost immediately, crazy for being a turbocharged car, I personally hate turbo lag
All those mods in the S4 just to get clapped by an M340i on Imperial Ecosport 2 tires . The B58 and S58 are no joke and I own both. B58 will always be the best bang for buck and sounds incredible.

You can make that power with alot less mods... he just has it detuned. The 3.0 tfsi makes power cheaper and more reliably than the s58 and b58.

My heavier a6 with fbo, ported blower, and small shot of nitrous runs 10.04 at 137 without nitrous it runs 10.52 at 132 and without nitrous I should be making roughly what he does to the wheels 😂 why is my heavier a6 with same power significantly faster .

We tuned that S4, it needs more time to build up the boost from the dig. It should be a little faster, usually, we see a high 10 on these setups.
And that m3 comp on a good stage 2 makes 750 wheel running 9.7 in the 1/4🤣

M340i Stage 2+ is not +500hp. A turbo upgrade on a b58 (stage 3) does +650hp and would smash both cars 😂

@@wesleywalls7582 Lol, in your fantasy. A tuned M3 with DP (stock internals) runs Plaid times, so a stock M3 Competition is definitely showing the Long Range it's taillights on an open freeway. Long Range tops out at 145 while the M3 goes 180+.

Even stock the Audi 3.0t has bad lag down low completely opposite of b58 which moves the second u breathe on it. So with upgraded turbo I could see he had real bad lag n couldn’t hook for shit. The s4 is really the quicker car then the m340 tho ina roll and trapping in the 1/4.
Wrong, 3.0t is supercharged. Tuned would smoke these and cost less.

My B9 is 400whp on stage 1 034 with all the bolt ons except downpipe. Not sure what it does in the 1/4 but does 0-60 in roughly 3.6 seconds.

I did 11,9 on my s5 b8,5 just on stage 1+ and stock tcu 450 brake hp. It’s pretty weak for 530whp that close to 600 brake hp.
Agree. My b8.5 S4 with 93 Stage 1 tune and an intake ran 12.06@ 113.5. With two kid seats in the back. I swapped to the 340i now though for b58 deliciousness.

My Stage 2 with basic bolt ons on 91 octane and 2,000+DA runs a 3.6 0-60 and mid to high 11s. With ~400whp and 460wtq.
Same basic bolt ons and a simple swith to E85 is ~430whp and 530wtq and its low 3s 0-60 and low 11s 1/4 full weight.
A stage 3 car with a Pure750 or TTE810 is mid to low 10s and should be ahead of that G80.
Since hes claiming those power figures in that S4 on 94, hes running a hybrid turbo, and should be much quicker than my Stage 2 stock turbo.

Let me start by not taking anything from those BMWs absolutely amazing cars especially to the way they are and they really smoked it. That being said plenty of guys with the same hardware that as far as running have run low threes to high twos and zero 60 I was watching him make so many shifting mistakes with the paddle shifters that are relying on the automatic transmission like the other two were doing and he was slow off the line every time Get it together!
Considering what an awesome car the M3 is stock the M340 and the S4 did really really well and for a fraction of the cost.
issue is the m340i is great but the turbo is meant for low end torque and not top end HP. Falls on its face up top but still a great car. Even tuned with downpipe they still get 30mpg while making 500 wheel
Calling BS on that S4 WHP. What turbo? Those are higher numbers than a Stage 3 TTE710/810 build with a horrible 0-60 and 1/4. That should be a sub 3 second S4 low 10.
034 93 Stage 1 will do better than that 500+ WHP S4 lol. Basically any S4 stage 1 tune will.

The S4 could of left a lil harder but not bad. The G80 is DEFINETLY in a league of its own. Especially full bolt on and tuned.
Never heard of YD motorsport so I looked them up (the tuning company used for the S4) They seem to specialize in BMW and Mercedes from what their site shows. Seems like an odd choice for an Audi owner. I saw the M3 is running PS4S, the Audi is on Conti's DWS 06 Plus (a good tire I use them for my winter wheels on my own 2018 S4-I use PS4S for the warm months) and the M340 is being run on a budget with budget brand front tires and Michelin PS4S on the rear it looks like. Considering that the Audi was left sitting on the start line in the drags and seemed to be slow on the roll races to come on I wonder if his tuner did anything to the transmission tuning? Also, if he had a turbo upgrade like someone else in the comments said he has, why is his car down on power compared to box tunes from 034 and IE? Even a TTE710 would net numbers closer or above 600 in hp and tq to the wheels from either tuner and he would have been able to have the trans tuned too. I see them using the paddles in the S4 the ZF trans would probably be better at shifting than they were with the paddles if it was tuned correctly. I am a service advisor for a BMW dealership. I also own a 2018 S4 stage 2 034 E-85 tuned car. Something just seems off about the Audi. Not trying to take away from the punch the M3 or the M340 have here. They are both great cars.

depends, the E class is larger and the v8 has an amazing character. I came from a C63S to a M340i but it feels slow after getting used to 510hp. I heard the b58 wakes up with a downpipes and tune. Can't wait to tune it but in the back of my head I keep thinking maybe I should have bought a G90 M5.
@@tubejorrit yeah the e63 is a beast. I bought a dragy just to test out my 1/4, stock it does 11.7@121. After some research the best bang for your buck with the M157 engine is doing an E85 tune only. That would get me over 700whp.

No video is for every person. This one is not for me. I don't really understand the point of pitting 3 tuned cars against each other. I mean...the highest tuned one will win. Done... Stock cars against each other are interesting because they are isolated to the criterion of being stock. For example, the M3 comp has ~500whp stock (not chp). So this one has a VERY light tune on it. It can put down 800whp with a tune only. My point is: racing tuned turbo cars is arbitrary. The most tuned one wins. Fin. I'm not realistically choosing between these exact tuned cars, so the information doesn't really apply to anything useful for me = not very interesting. Not sure how well I've explained that... Not that anyone will read this or care :).
