The S4 definitely needed more time to spool. M3 is the clear winner, as expected, but I'd like to see this again with a driver mod in the S4.

I was there that day. The S4 has a turbo upgrade. It was taking time to spool the turbos. I think he could have done a better job, but the car had the highest trap speed among the three cars. It was a slow day for times, but he managed a 11.0 at 128mph if I recall correctly.
But the Bimmers were sling shots off the hole for sure!
Gotta build the car for a certain purpose. Sounds like the S4 would do better at roll racing or half mile with a big, laggy turbo.

11.0s at 128mph sounds right with 530~ whp. Per video, the S4 did 3.6s for 0-60 and 11.3x for 1/4 miles. It should have done like 3.0 and 11 respectively
I’m a Audi guy but those B58 and especially the M340 are pretty hard to beat for what it is. Just wish it had a little better interior

@@Thicc340 can’t do burnouts there. Launched the same both times but was very late on first launch, you just can’t see in the vid. M3 says “preparing launch” and then active. I didn’t time it well the first time and waited for it to be active to go

M3 is stock with a piggy back tune. Hardly "tuned". Real tuned G80s are making 700 whp with a downpipe.

My car is about even with stage 1 bm3 from what I’ve seen. There is many g80’s and 2021+ BMW’s running jb4 as many of us can’t have the car sitting while waiting for the ECU. But of course we will not run a 700whp g80 Vs these cars it doesn’t make sense

B58 is definitely not designed to be the Beast its big brother is. But it’s a hell of a near 2JZ replacement enough for Toyota to cowardly have it put it in its Supra instead of retooling and bringing back the 2JZ.

@@SSH939 what Porsche or R8 are you getting for 110k CAD. I've been on auto trader and even the base 911s cost 160k cad +, r8s are like over 200k now. Maybe an old high mileage V8 R8 or a old 991 or 997 Carrera which imo are worse options than a brand new 2023 M3 for that money

All those mods in the S4 just to get clapped by an M340i on Imperial Ecosport 2 tires . The B58 and S58 are no joke and I own both. B58 will always be the best bang for buck and sounds incredible.

The m340i was seriously tuned. The G80 m3 was barely tuned.
I've seen stage 1 tunes of the G80 m3 surpassing 750 bhp
@Elijah Andrew stage 2 is seriously tuned ? Downpipe plus stage 2 tuning, maybe coldair intake and a intercooler upgrade in combination with stage 2+ remap. This is not what you call heavily modified car :)
The M3 has miles better driving dynamics. As a daily driver the M340 is great but gladly would pay the extra for the M3 over the 340i.

I love mine…. I am keeping mine stock for warranty purposes. I think it’s fast enough for street driving. I’ll just buy something faster if I need it. Maybe a 911 turbo s.

Good runs! The turbo lag in the S4 is bad it seems, cause it definitely seems like the faster car if it didnt have the lag. Also, I hear the Dragy Meter app voice so it'd be cool to see the actual time slips from Dragy for the 60ft./Gforce
He needs antilag or to brake boost, but I thought the S4 would have won too with the hybrid.

@henzo7087 I'm basing my comment on roll race 2, where the BMW gets out ahead, and S4 slowly reeling in, but it's a short track so didn't have time to reel back in time.
Hey Folks. This is the 2018 B9 S4 here. Couple things. The M340i had no back seat. Not sure if that was mentioned in the video. Additionally, my car (in the digs) was never able to to get above 2500 RPM at launch. With this platform, 3000RPM (or higher) is optimal. Presently, the car cuts a sub 3.0 second 0-60, a 6.89 second 1/8th, and a 6.59 second 100-200km/h. Times are uploaded to dragy under gta_audi. At the end, when I did a casual dig with the M3 Comp and launched at 3000RPM, I took his car. The M340i declined that race. This being said, the BMW is an extremely fast car and can be built faster and for less compared to a B9. A race running E60 to E70 all around would be much more interesting. Fun day, and thanks to Sam for hosting a great event!

Your car does NOT have 534 wheel horsepower. Your car is doing the same times as my stage 2 93 RON map 034 S4 which will have 470-480 CRANK horsepower. You're absolutely and utterly deluded.

@jimmy mcgoo very typical in the car community these days not to mention it could have been one of those dynocom dynos or hub dynos that read way higher. My heavier a6 with fbo, ported blower, and small shot of nitrous runs 10.04 at 137 without nitrous it runs 10.52 at 132 and without nitrous I should be making roughly what he does to the wheels 😂 why is my heavier a6 with same power significantly faster .

What I saw is that the Audi has a horrible turbo lag, you can see how the power in both BMW’s kick in almost immediately, crazy for being a turbocharged car, I personally hate turbo lag

My Stage 2 with basic bolt ons on 91 octane and 2,000+DA runs a 3.6 0-60 and mid to high 11s. With ~400whp and 460wtq.
Same basic bolt ons and a simple swith to E85 is ~430whp and 530wtq and its low 3s 0-60 and low 11s 1/4 full weight.
A stage 3 car with a Pure750 or TTE810 is mid to low 10s and should be ahead of that G80.
Since hes claiming those power figures in that S4 on 94, hes running a hybrid turbo, and should be much quicker than my Stage 2 stock turbo.
The M340i pulls hard. I had the 2020 model but only RWD. The x drive is something different.

I bought a 540i a week ago and it has the gen 1 b58 but it’s around the same weight as the 2020 m340i so if I upgrade the gen 1 to a gen 2 TU pump with a stage 2 tune and a dp and an xhp stage 3 would I be pushing around the same numbers and time?
Very close to it, yet still heavier. Definitely get lighter wheels and if you have run flats ditch those and get Michelin PS4s, much better and lighter tire, and reacts quicker.

Let me start by not taking anything from those BMWs absolutely amazing cars especially to the way they are and they really smoked it. That being said plenty of guys with the same hardware that as far as running have run low threes to high twos and zero 60 I was watching him make so many shifting mistakes with the paddle shifters that are relying on the automatic transmission like the other two were doing and he was slow off the line every time Get it together!
If the m340i had the stock turbo, that was really stinking impressive. I'd love to see that car come back with a pure 800 swap.

u have to wait atleast 3-4 seconds for your s4 turbo to spool during launch. not 1-2 seconds, its like half as effective

This is not the S4 to compare to a brand new M3. 5 year old S4? What mods does it have? There are S4s out there running much faster times.
I’m the M3 owner. You can see on the roll we were even - His car is really quick but has a lot of lag from the turbo it’s hard to time it with the countdown to be in boost. He is on a TTE turbo it’s a great matchup 👊
The S4 was wildly inconsistent here - either driver or car problems. Roll race #2 was about what to expect. Swapping drivers is a bad idea for consistency.

Same race again but taking out the S4 and putting in the Tuned TTRS that was recently on the channel
We tuned that S4, it needs more time to build up the boost from the dig. It should be a little faster, usually, we see a high 10 on these setups.
And that m3 comp on a good stage 2 makes 750 wheel running 9.7 in the 1/4🤣

B58 is single turbo and higher low end tq. The spool is quick and tq available immediately.

Never heard of YD motorsport so I looked them up (the tuning company used for the S4) They seem to specialize in BMW and Mercedes from what their site shows. Seems like an odd choice for an Audi owner. I saw the M3 is running PS4S, the Audi is on Conti's DWS 06 Plus (a good tire I use them for my winter wheels on my own 2018 S4-I use PS4S for the warm months) and the M340 is being run on a budget with budget brand front tires and Michelin PS4S on the rear it looks like. Considering that the Audi was left sitting on the start line in the drags and seemed to be slow on the roll races to come on I wonder if his tuner did anything to the transmission tuning? Also, if he had a turbo upgrade like someone else in the comments said he has, why is his car down on power compared to box tunes from 034 and IE? Even a TTE710 would net numbers closer or above 600 in hp and tq to the wheels from either tuner and he would have been able to have the trans tuned too. I see them using the paddles in the S4 the ZF trans would probably be better at shifting than they were with the paddles if it was tuned correctly. I am a service advisor for a BMW dealership. I also own a 2018 S4 stage 2 034 E-85 tuned car. Something just seems off about the Audi. Not trying to take away from the punch the M3 or the M340 have here. They are both great cars.
What fuel is the M340 using?
Even stock the Audi 3.0t has bad lag down low completely opposite of b58 which moves the second u breathe on it. So with upgraded turbo I could see he had real bad lag n couldn’t hook for shit. The s4 is really the quicker car then the m340 tho ina roll and trapping in the 1/4.
Wrong, 3.0t is supercharged. Tuned would smoke these and cost less.

@@wesleywalls7582 Lol, in your fantasy. A tuned M3 with DP (stock internals) runs Plaid times, so a stock M3 Competition is definitely showing the Long Range it's taillights on an open freeway. Long Range tops out at 145 while the M3 goes 180+.

I did 11,9 on my s5 b8,5 just on stage 1+ and stock tcu 450 brake hp. It’s pretty weak for 530whp that close to 600 brake hp.
Agree. My b8.5 S4 with 93 Stage 1 tune and an intake ran 12.06@ 113.5. With two kid seats in the back. I swapped to the 340i now though for b58 deliciousness.
thats one of the craziest B9 S4s ive seen. i feel like this gen S4 overall hasn't been as impressive as the B8.5 but this one is sick. the 2 3 series, well they're both crazy goes without saying.

I sadly agree. I had a b8.5 (2013) S4 that I loved but traded for a 2018 340i because the b9 s4 just has so little potential relative. I couldn't stomach buying a b9 s4 for A LOT more money to tune it and run nearly identical with my tune and intake b8.5. Then there is the top end issues with the b9 (roller bearings dropping out) that made me look elsewhere. Interior aside the 340i is a superior driving car. Handling is better (Stock adaptive dampers has some roll but handles better than my V3 Coilover setup in the s4). Stock braking is better on the BMW and has an OEM Upgrade available. The car is noticeably lighter, and the weight distribution is night and day. My f30 still understeers a bit at the limit (which I'm fine with as it's a daily street car) because it's staggered, but the Audi even with upgraded suspension would just understeer hard and pull until the Sports Diff kicked in to pull things around. Even then you felt the car constantly fighting all the weight over the front axle. Then obviously the real treat is the b58. With a TU fuel pump and down pipe people are making about 450whp on 93 pump. 500+on Ethanol mixes. Drop a 2k turbo in and you're talking 600+ to the wheels. It's one of the best bang-for-buck cars in out there right now. The B9 just doesn't offer as much up to the driving enthusiast, even if it is a more comfortable car with nicer materials inside. It's a good, swift luxury vehicle. The f30 and g20 offer 90% the comfort and 50% more driving fun. Only thing I miss about the Audi are the excellent seats, the charger whine (however this was easily made up for by the most excellent MPPSK exhaust) and the differential. I will be added a diff to the 340i at some point and a minor lowering spring to work with the adaptive dampers and I think it'll be great for street use. I don't track things ever. B58 is a buttery gem to drive!

Is the M340i’s speed limiter topped at 130MPH? I understand newer ones have either top speed or 130MPH or 155MPH with the cooling package and tires. Usually the ones with the black wheels are topped at 130MPH. This is probably why it dies out quicker hitting higher speeds.

My m340i has black wheels and it's limited to 155mph. The limiter is set to whichever tires you get. Performance tires = 155mph..... All season tires = 130mph. You do NOT have to get Cooling and High Performance Tire Package to top out at 155mph.
