Our love from Maine!! We have figured out the degree of lean angle is proportionate to how much you like what you are eating! You have broadened the foods we eat here at our house. Thank you for Sharing your passion.
Mark has 2 facial expressions when ever he takes a bite, one is his eyes gets bigger and nods whilst mumbling "Mmmmmm" and the second is his eyes closes and moves to the right.
+pronita barua I think it adds cartoon like quality to his videos..but try listening to how he describes the food, if it sounds good to you maybe give that a try if you think his facial expressions are too confusing
I love watching your videos before I sleep since it's very therapeutic for me. You're one of the few people, (besides Anthony bourdain) that I enjoy watching. You are authentic and original, plus you're facial expressions are HILARIOUSs. Most of the cuisines in your videos remind me of my grandmother's cooking and the times when I traveled and ate A LOT of street food. I'm both Burmese and Vietnamese so I've grown up eating lots of food and exotic fruits . If you ever get a chance, there's this really cool place in Virginia called Eden center. I think you will enjoy the similar authentic Viet and Thai style cuisine. I also think it would be an awesome idea to make food videos in new places, and I'm looking forward to it !! I would suggest Israeli cuisine-I've been to the markets in Jeruselum and there are many little food stands selling a variety of fruits , Ruglah (oh you should definitely try the ruglah!! It's like little chocolate pastries) and so much more. I've encountered small food courts that cater really nice sauteed lamb pops and traditional falafel . Secondly (sorry if I'm going on too long), I really think and HOPE you will consider making maybe a candy video??...or even a chocolate review. I'm a chocolate lover, but I don't know if you take any liking to candy and those sort of things. But yea, you're doing such a great job, and it's amazing how you're doing what you love , which is really inspiring !! :)
I simply Love the (Joy in the) way that you Eat! Its so adorable and nice. And its a pleasure to watch an knew such amazing experiences that you share with us! Keep going Dear!
OMG that scallop peanut is one of the most amazing seafood I've ever eaten. I would go back to Saigon just for this one, I can eat plates and plates of them.
OMG I watched all ur videos about vietnamese foods ...for over 3 times :((( They're so so good and It's really nice to see how much u enjoy our foods :)
I really love Mark's food videos. I've never seen anyone as focused as he is on the task at hand, tasks that involve food and often times in an evioronment that's very distracting. Kudos to him. I think that focus sets him apart from others.
This video actually got my wife interested. She wants to do the scallops like that next time. Interesting about the morning glories. Looked it it. The flowers look just like the US version but they were plants instead of vines. Will try to look them up at the Asian market next time. Thanks Mark.
the morning glories are also called water spinach, ong choy, or rau muong (in vietnamese), it tastes awesome stir fried with garlic and some hoisin sauce
The big snail with lots of chilli on it called ốc tỏi. Glad you enjoyed it, your face at that moment looked like you were in heaven, and I make that face everytime I taste something really good too haha. Also, ốc tỏi is my favorite :)
I don't know how many times I've watched this video. everytime it shows on my suggestion list, I keep watching it again 😂😂 i want to have all of themm!!
I'm Saigonese and I think it's a little pricey for what you ate there. But it's OK, as long as you enjoyed it. I have "snail" wiTh my friend everyweek. Now I can't sleep because of my hungry stomach after watching this video. Gotta wait til tomorrow to have some:((
Holly Nguyen Thank you Holly, yah I think you might be right, but the good thing is that it was the same price for everyone, because I only used a Vietnamese menu with the prices. But I definitely enjoyed it. Hope you enjoyed your snails today!
Holly, do you know where this restaurant is? Every time I came back to Saigon, I ended up staying right behind Ben Thanh Market and ate the only Oc street restaurant on the one side of the market. I think that restaurant only opens at night. Service is not so good and way overpriced. I used to be a Saigonese but have not been living there for about 24 years so I really don't know where to get specialty food anymore. I am an escargot lover so if you know a nice escargot restaurant, please let me know! Thanks so much.
Zumbi Abbie I haven't had a chance to eat at that restaurant where Mark visited. I usually have "Oc" at some restaurants on To Hien Thanh street, opposite of Big C supermarket, district 10. The whole street sells "Oc" so you can choose any you like. Or other place I often visit these days is "Oc Khanh", on Nguyen Binh Khiem street, in district 1. Come visit if you have time! Oh, and welcome back to Sai Gon after 24 years (while i'm just 22 years old).
Thank you, Holly! I will certainly cab down there to eat. I was from district 11 right across from Bach Khoa University, in Cu Xa Lu Gia, so I ate up and down 3 Thang 2 Ave in district 10 in my day as a young pupil! Thanks again and cheers! :)
Dont know if anyone gives a damn but if you are stoned like me during the covid times then you can stream pretty much all the new movies and series on instaflixxer. I've been binge watching with my brother recently :)
I can see you are in general a very happy dude, don't listen to all those people that try to bring you down here in the comment section, I like your videos and you should keep doing what you like :D
Ohh yeahh !! that was my passe time when i went back to vietnam : eating Oc with the beer Saigon. Thank you mark for yours videos , it brings me back many memories
Oh Mark, I don't know about snails! I can see why you need to drink the beer along with eating the snails! LOL! Thanks for sharing your travels and the wonderful food.
Love your work Mark,👍 I watch your videos every morning, with my Canadian coffee 🇨🇦☕ .. I am still going through them all, I happened to click this one, Amazing focus and attention to what you doing and love, lots of respect for that man 💪😎 ..Cheers 🍻
you should keep the shells and boil them to sanitize them and then leave them on beaches with wild hermit crabs. There is a a shell shortage going on in the wild right now and the crab population can't grow bigger than the amount of shells available. Every little bit helps.
Tysm Mark for sharing UR culinary adventure with us! I pray 🙏 peaceful, joyful, delicious, fun & wonderful blessings to U, Mark & Everyone & Everything Everywhere!! Love U All! ☮️🤟🏽💐🍀💞🥳😇🍓
I never thought I'd enjoy watching someone eat, but I love your videos... I will know in the next day or so if my employer will let me have some time off work. I just got back from my first time in Thailand about 3 weeks ago and want to go back.... My plan, if things work out, is to leave the U.S. on Jan. 28th and stay in Phuket for 3 weeks, then fly to Siem Reap, Cambodia for a couple weeks, and now after watching your videos fly to Saigon for a couple weeks, then back to Thailand until April 15th... Wish me Luck!!!! Thanks for the suggestion on your second hotel...I already checked it out and it looks nice...
Aaaaaah Mark, you're crazyyy. I'm from France and even I don't eat snails. Though I have to admit that the Vietnamese version looks better. But stilll.... aaaaahh slimmy snail. Nononononono. Lol
actually, in vietnamese, we called "snail" like the ones you got in France is "ốc sên" which are actually no one would eat them. the "snails" here cuz Mark got no English word to describe what it is - it's actually called "ốc", they live under water, unlike "snails" obviously or "sò" (it's like "clamps" but we got a lot of types) and we have various types of "ốc" : ốc dừa, ốc gạo, ốc len, and sò huyết, sò lông....etc. - they are clean and healthy, unlike "ốc sên" aka "snails" though - they are kinda ewwww i know, LOL xD
The only time you get to see snails in India are in the rains when you cant get them off your porch.. Thanks to you mark I will get hungry when i see them this monsoon. Amazing stuff.
hey mark :D ask them for a ginger fish sauce dip next time ( contains tons of ginger and is more dense than the normal fishsauce) , it goes amazing with the kind of snails and scallops you had
Depending on what kind of snail you have, then you can dip in ginger fish sauce. For some, you just use fish sauce without ginger. Also, Mark, if you could add some fish sauce to the scallops, they taste even better. And they added some green onions with oil, not butter. Anyway, thanks for the video, making me crave for those snails. I am going back to Vietnam this New Year so I can enjoy them :-)
Now my mouth is watering... Ốc is my favorite, gotta eat it every time I come back to Saigon. It's impossible to eat those here at the US, cuz finding fresh Ốc (you know that fresh ingredients are crucial when it comes to shellfish cooking) is extremely hard (and not to mention they are super expensive). Anw, glad that you have some more good experience at my hometown ^^
you can have anything to your taste, cocacola, pepsi, 7up, sprite, tea, sugarcane juice... but you should have it with ice. I also like "dừa tắc" it's coconut water with 'tắc" (I'm too lazy to look it up, but it's a relative of lime) this drink makes my mounth feels fresh especially when you eat oily dishes like grill, fried food....
+shibidi here's a thought go out to a viet restaurant and order some, i here LA is full with cultural food besides the traditional food you usually eat
if you can, come to vietnam to try out those amazing dishes,i'm sure that you will be in love with the food cuz eat food from it own country always better
Hey Mark! Even though ever since I was small, I never could stomach snails but how you present it makes me want to try eating snails. I DO love scallops though and after watching this video, I want to book the next flight to Vietnam! Like always, Love your videos, keep up the great job and "mahalo" for putting out such great videos!
Wow! It's amazing to see how the foreigner feels about Vietnamese foods, especially this kind of food "snail" because I'm a big fan of it too :) I know this restaurant but i never have a trial at it, maybe tonight! Thanks for this video!
***** I was referring to the ones with spiral shells, those are from the sea and are called "luo" in Chinese and snails "woniu 蝸牛“ are living in soil. Hard to believe but we don't eat snails while "luo" is considered a delicacy. Maybe they are called sea snails in English? I don't know.
pronita barua as if your qualified enough that your opinion matters... seriously hating someone for having a reaction... good thing that he doesn't change his behavior despite such comments in his videos.. because he knows he clearly has a huge number of followers...y do u even watch his videos...get a life .. clearly u have lot of problems if such trivial things irritate..at least he's successful and living his.. and oh there is a saying....IF YOU LOVE ME ,IM IN YOUR HEART. IF YOU HATE ME I AM IN YOUR MIND.. EITHER WAY I WIN
oh my god he is so adorable lol the way his eyes light up so much. makes me feel happy just watching and listening to him

He has three, the very toothy grin when something is beyond delicious lol
haha...
makes me hate him
+pronita barua I think it adds cartoon like quality to his videos..but try listening to how he describes the food, if it sounds good to you maybe give that a try if you think his facial expressions are too confusing

Bobby B Hey Bobby, thanks for watching, let me know how those scallops turn out!
Yes when he said morning glories, I thought to myself isn't that a plant??😋😋😋
the morning glories are also called water spinach, ong choy, or rau muong (in vietnamese), it tastes awesome stir fried with garlic and some hoisin sauce
these scallops were missing the light lime chili sugar fish sauce.
This is still the best video of Mark
And this is the first video where I found out about mark.... still its my favorite till now 💕

Mark Wiens you can try some Phở in vendors on the street, hehehe, ^___^. It's good as well
Try Phở Tàu Bay at Lý Thái Tổ street Mark. Vy unique taste that you cannot find anywhere else in Viet Nam.
I love this guys "yummy!" face. Lol right after he eats a bite of something, his eyes get all big. Good food reviews :)

All these snails live in Ocean, not the disgusting land snails that people are afraid of...
Hey Mark! Even though ever since I was small, I never could stomach snails but how you present it makes me want to try eating snails. I DO love scallops though and after watching this video, I want to book the next flight to Vietnam! Canh Duc Tran Owh I didn't know that. Thank you man for sharing
Wow! It's amazing to see how the foreigner feels about Vietnamese foods, especially this kind of food "snail" because I'm a big fan of it too :) I know this restaurant but i never have a trial at it, maybe tonight! Thanks for this video!
Why do you call these snails? They are different kinds of shellfish. We call these "luo螺" in Chinese.
you mean a conch? that wasn't a conch or luo.
