  • Canon is regarding with having some of the best ergonomics of any camera. In this video I take a look at Canon's legendary 5D line, and compare where the ergonomics/ build quality started and ended.
Canon will not be making another 5D camera, so these cameras will live to be relics of the DSLR era. An era that many photographers still shoot on, including myself. What were canon engineers able to accomplish with that platform.
Obviously the newer, more expensive camera is going to have more raw photo/video taking prowess. But what I dive into is the buttons that let you take those photos. How that changed overtime.

Read manual for if You want to explain communication ports. The flash port IS NOT for flashes that cant power themselves ! It is for triggering flash in sync with cammera shutter!
Its called flash sync. You can triiger by cable studio flasges, which deffinitelly are powered from other source, like own batteries or AC power suply.

I wonderd what that thing on the bottom right of the 5D MkIV could have been. I figured it out the second you opened it up to expose the Cabled Shutter Release. This has undoubtedly many good uses, but I use mine for doing Astrophotography, at night. You would want to do this to minimize any camera shake being induced by pressing the actual trigger button. Yes you could just set the Camera to a 2-10s delay but, the Cable release is the better solution for those tasks.

if Canon did anything on the EF mount, it gave us just enough of a screen to use but not good enough to know if something was in focus which is an area on a camera I can give up for better everything else.

The front port could be a flash synch port for studio flash.

It's for a Shutter Cable Release. The PC Flash (port) I think is the one on the side with the ⚡ on it.

"Nicer, more modern, more professional cameras" is where I switched off. I shoot professional sport and EVF is a real pain in the eye. You're suffering from GAS
