11:11 , he doesn't kill himself, that is a civilian model not an enemy model, there is a guy oh the other side of the window who shoots him you can hear the shotgun fire, I guess you may have assumed that he threw a grenade and killed himself since you can also hear a grenade explode, the grenades are coming from above.

Sadly you did not mention the graphics which were miles ahead of rivals at that time.
9:49 If I remember correctly, this games have quick save and quick load buttons (F5 and F9) You don'y need to go to the menu every time

The thing is Max's story has ended. He has closure so making a 4th game is just gonna be a generic shoot em up kill bad guy bla bla bla. Max's story should've ended on the 2nd game just watch its ending and then the 3 came out and threw that out the mfkin window

I once got an A on a poetry assignment by ripping off lines from Max's monologues. 10/10 would plagiarise again.
The most likely reason the game is a lot easier is because of how bullet time works now (you aren't slowed down in MP2) and the weapons are pretty much hitscan unlike the original Max Payne (the bullets had a weird delay before hitting an enemy after fired).
Its because Max Payne 1 had bullets be projectiles for both you and the enemy.
Love this game.
Every time I played through, I always wished they gave Mona an entire act of her own and made it a 4-part story, instead of 3. That would have added a couple more hours to the campaign, while fleshing out her character a bit more. Might be unnecessary, but they could've done a little back-story of what she did between the game releases.

I love the game whole heartedly as it is yet I really can't blame them if it was rushed because to be honest I felt the buildup being that way..

Max Payne, dropping gems back in the day about secret society's. Gotta love those dev's man. They knew/know what's up. Same with Hideo Kojima.
Both Max Payne 1 and Max Payne 2 has some really good mods
It's such a minor thing, I know, but I abhor that they changed Max's look. I absolutely fell in love with Sam Lake's portrayal of the character. That sharp angled face, the pissed off eyes, the snake-like vibe he gave off...man, he looked like a regular guy but also really distinct. When I saw Max in the sequel, I felt an immediate disconnect with the character which is never a good thing. It was like Santa Claus had been replaced by a mall equivalent. Maybe that's why I never finished it.
And what really gets me is that Sam can still pull off the look. There's been several times in the last ten or so years he's dressed up as the character, and it's like looking at a long lost friend. I just hate we'll never get Sam as Max in any official capacity anymore.

In the club level near the start of the game, there's a part where you go around a corner and two thugs lock the door ahead of you, forcing you to go up the stairs to the attic and take the long way around. I discovered that if you bounce a grenade around the corner, you can kill the thugs before they close the door. You can then go through the door and straight across the catwalk. If you do this, the end of level boss never appears. You can hear him shooting, but he's not there.
Easily the best Max Payne title, no discussion. A true neo-noir masterpiece! I love this game..

That was actually a scripted event if I remember.
The roll (which can only performed when out of ammo in this game or during sections where max is unarmed, since you can still dive when out of bullet time unlike the first game,) also changes between Max and Mona, Max still has the roll, Mona has a cartwheel.

My brother and I was playing through the game, found it quite challenging so we often saved.
One time he saved right before an explosion was happening where you HAVE TO hide inside a cabin that needs to be closed. His save was so close to the explosion’s time limit that no matter what, you die. I was soooo pissed and haven’t played the game much since lol.
I remember renting this, and beating it, from Blockbuster. I was surprised how short the game actually was

You should review Urban Chaos: Riot Response, I promise you that you'll love it. It has a lot of charm, interesting mechanics, and is still a blast to play today. Also, play the xbox version! The original one if you can, the 360 is probably gonna have shoddy framerate, and if you don't have the OG xbox, you should really get one. The smoother performance is worth the 30-40$ you can get one for.

Easily my favorite of the trilogy, I love this game!
This is the only game I've played multiple times til I played on Hard level and finally got satisfied with the ending.
i was always amazed how video games didn't match up to this graphics for yers to come. there's not one video explaining how half life 2 and Max Payne 2 achieved this quality.
You should do a review on BLACK. That was one game I wished they made a part 2 of.
playing it back in the day I never realized how good the gunplay and ragdoll physics were
it's crazy how good Rockstar is at showing the impact and damage of bullets on the body of people you kill, they do this even better than First Person Shooters and this is very impressive for a 2003 game.

11:11 is a scripted event where an innocent person is being shot through the window. Not sure how you concluded he was a cleaner killing himself.
Kinda late but at 11:12 someone above tosses down grenades and the guy falling out the window before the shotgun goes off is just a civilian getting killed by the cleaner looking out the window just that the ragdoll animation never works well on PC but on ps2

Have you played the mods for this game? They are absolutely insane. Especially, the best ones: Chow Yun Fat Edition and Payne Evolution 3. And around 2024 or so, people will release a ROBOCOP mod for it. I've made a ton of videos about the MAX PAYNE franchise, but I didn't wrote a review yet.

If I remember correctly they changed how bullet time worked in 2 and I remember not liking it that much. Instead of everything slowing down except your aiming, everything around you slowed down except you. It didn't feel as satisfying as the first or third game.

This is hands down my favorite video game character of all time. The dark gritty backdrop the eerie soundtrack. The desperation of one man on the edge of a breakdown with revenge in his heart. I wish they would make another Max Payne.
Remember the time when games were first made for PC to accommodate their higher capabilities, and only THEN ported to the consoles?
Good times. Now games are being held back by the consoles so much... And I say this as a console gamer.

My only problem with Max Payne 2 is that they didn't use Sam Lake as the main character otherwise the max payne series is one of my favourite of all time (except number 3)

F5 to quicksave FYI, and I gotta admit this game felt too easy to me too, as both your health and your, I almost said Dead Eye, as they have the max payne dodge in RDR 2, just without the ability to shoot on the ground, Bulletime regenerating way too quickly, like I wish they had kept it so that the bullet time dodge was the only way to activate it, either that or upped the drain rate and reduced the refill time on it.
as it felt like if you were good at max payne 1, which still feels like the better and more memorable game to me, this game was a breeze, however the FPS mod for it that I used to always get from FPSbanna back in the day made playing this a thousand times better.
as they went so overdetailed with everything this game EASILY supported an FPS mod back in the day that puts both GTA and RDR 2 to shame, as theirs no stupid headbob, or feeling like your walking in a neck brace to hold you back, like they could have easily done that as its own separate mode, which mixed in with the ability to just go nuts with the bullettime while running around, really made it feel like a proper first person chow yun fatt mode.
and done some extra with the difficultly, like imagine a mode where you could only do the old school bullet dodge and had the choice of that as a stock thing with it, could have really brought this game into its own.
as it just needed to be harder, and a little less streamlined, with more snow, as I badly missed that atmosphere, and with how fun the combat was, imagine if they had done a mutliplayer mod for it, it could have easily been the best in the series.
