Bought this game new and never regretted it. Honestly I would buy again if they remastered it. Infact I demand they remaster this game.

One cool feature is If in the game you don't turn around and kill the skull guy who shoots him and kills him in the movie, it replays the death scene from the movie in the games engine

Back in 5th grade, I knew this kid who was a massive fan of video games revolving around gangsters.
He was the one that got me hooked into the game (as well as the movie itself) and I still play it even today.
Same here but I was year 7. My friend was talking about the game and how good it is so since I liked the movie and also enjoyed another movie-game (The Godfather), I decided to get a copy. It's now one of my favourite PS2 games.

This Game needs to be remastered. Along with simpsons hit and run.
This game being an alternate story to the movie, and expanding the movie's universe into something where the protagonist wins. This is one of the best movie franchise games I've ever played as a kid. I think it holds up today. A bit over the top looking back at it as an adult, but absolute fun driving, and gunning action.
My favorite game of all time. BRING IT BACK OR REMASTER IT! Most underrated game of all time. It’s a masterpiece.

@@flyingspaghetti So on PC you can even play at 4K, 120 fps. But it can only be done through registry. And I don't think you even get correct aspect ratio. It was 2006 and it wasn't really developed with Full HD or Ultra HD in mind. It is only graphics. Overall gameplay is best on consoles. On Pc you can't even move camera smoothly -

Exotic Cars, Shootouts, Music, Drug Dealing, smuggling and taking over Miami. If you havent played it, believe me, you'd be proud to have taken over Miami. Good luck on your Scarface Playthrough, it is a really good game.
The distribution shit adds to the feeling, that's really what Tony goes through every day, the same shit. It's the best when you get high deals and make more money than usual or unlock new story missions or get enough money to buy some new thing, it's so much more rewarding. This is probably the most satisfying, rewarding game ever
its so rage inducing. I was in south beach during 'Miami Distribution' and a rival gang car rams me in the back and we both fly over a bridge and land into water. Had to restart the whole fucking mission.

I have played through this game almost 3 times and still love it! The soundtrack is massively underrated and is worth picking this game up alone! This game brings a level of intensity that I haven't found in another game, especially with the bank your money or you'll lose all of it without any way of getting it back idea, it always kept me on the edge (I hated banking it due to the massively extortionate rates those dam banks charge you!)
This game was great. Replayability was low, but even so, it was still fun and was among the best looking games for the PS2. I totally forgot how awesome the soundtrack was too.

They say the map felt empty, and I see why, but not really. Theres numerous times where I get super bored exploring in gta 3 and vice city (not as much San Andrea's, that's impossible), but in scarface it's great cause you check in on your businesses, you can curse at nothing or at people, and all random dialogue is captioned so you dont miss a single funny joke, unlike gta, theres gang rampages you dont exactly have to do, theres missions as other people, drug dealers, and its mostly how you can converse with people. That's epic man
You can also replay missions and rampages are funner (as other people who work for tony, like the assassin, as that's the only way you can do so in the vanilla game) and I always find new dialogue I havent heard in the game before, similar to san andreas
Oh wow I didnt even mention the amount of shit you can buy, funny side missions, and femme fatales and shit
True the guy missed alot and this game had me engaged because once you knew everything you can do, you pick your scenarios.
I never got bored of the game. Havent played it in a while but after the story the bussinesses got me engaged. It was hella fun and rewarding just building up the bank account

This game is very fun the first time around, I remember having it for the ps2 and loving it. One thing that isn't elaborated much in this review is the quality of the music score. Every time Tony enters a vehicle a random song blasts out the radio getting you super hyped, I've gone back to download a lot of the songs from the game after a second play through on PC. On PC the game functions but has a lot of glitchs and is a bit unreliable with crashs. I'd highly recommend.
Scarface is one of those games that aren't really discovered till years later. But those of us in the know, know. I bought this when it first came out for the original Xbox.
Believe it or not GTA 4 incorporated many gameplay elements from Scarface. The gunshot wounds, police radius system, and calling allies to provide vehicles and weapons.

@@Thebrosephone San Andreas had the same police mechanics as 3 and Vice City. They spawn in and agressively attack you until you either change your appearance or drive into a paint n spray. GTA 4 is when they added a radius system.

Same here. I played way back then when it came out, because a friend had it. I remember doing some missions and it was dope. Got it again around 2 or 3 years ago and haven't finished it yet. It's not so much the repetitiveness. It's how hard it gets. Constantly dying while making deals, losing fronts, getting busted during missions, making you lose everything, etc. Has caused me to rage quit several times. Lmao.
I remember pre-ordering this game and getting the Scarface poster with the whole script as the image of Tony Montana. It was my prized possession for a long time. Brings back great memories
I really loved the Review, I agree with almost everything. Just have to mention that you can use the henchmen you buy as characters and have some secondary objectives. Also this henchmen dont have anything close to Tony`s Morale so they can shoot civilians down. I really like how every character is done, although the best one is Tony by far as the henchmen are just henchmen
I'd love to see more reviews of sleeper hits like this man, your content is great and theres already so much content out there for popular games - if you were able to bring more attention to some of the less popular games of the era like these and shine light on them, thatd be so awesome

C'mon! You can't compare Mafia to Scaraface and Godfather. Mafia Lost Heaven is a very serious game, a very deep game. It is a movie on it's own, sort of like GTAIV.

Loved this and The Godfather for the PS2 as a teenager. Yeah, the distribution can get repetitive but I enjoyed it quite a bit.
The most interesting part was choosing a car that was fast enough to get the money quickly from your businesses but also durable to withstand the constant shootouts from the enemies. I believe I went with the American muscle car from the collection for those missions since it had a great speed/durability ratio.
I remember playing this game right after watching the movie, it honestly is one of the best games I’ve played.

Yeah, the same lines, same attitude, same 80s style, same miami, but no messages about crime not paying the exact opposite to be exact. I thought a goodfellas game would work great but now you've made it clear it would be really hard to make good

I was playing it these days, and finished two days ago, I loved it! I played it when it came out in 2006 but never finished it, now I did it and loved the game even more.

at first its kinda neck breaking, but after I get into level 2 now I understand how to enjoy this game and yes its feels addictive like i'm playing VCS & Chinatown.
I was so addicted to playin' GTA3 and Vice City and when this came out I never played them again! Seriously! When I did finally get bored of it, I finally moved over to SA and got hooked on that. Now that I see this video, I really want to go back and replay GTA3, Vice City and this game...

I used to play this game constantly when i was a kid and i actually played this game before i ever seen the full movie. The only gripe i had with it is after completing the game (not an easy task for 12-13 y/o me) it wouldnt ever save properly and i would lose everything from the end game and be set back a good few missions. I tried it 3 times and it never worked and would always set me back until eventually i stopped trying. Im so happy you did a review on this

I still own the original version of this game and it's still one of my favorites. It looks good imo for the time. The gameplay was fun. I liked the interactions. I liked the cars and customization. And the music. Including the track "The world is yours". I liked that one a lot probably because it reminded me about the movie.
Rockstar didnt really re release the warriors, it just became a ps2 classic for ps4. But we can all dream, man
The original Xbox version is still the best via component cables, plus it has all the music.

I would love this game to be remastered or remade like everyone else, but I would honestly just take a port of this game onto ps4 with trophies to boot, this game was a lot more than the graphics and how it looked. It played fantastically and the story was so intriguing.not to mention the progression system was so fun buying new furniture and decorating your mansion or getting some crazy vehicles to drive 😂 good times 👌

This game and movie were my literal childhood, I watched the movie when I was like 8 because my brothers were older and I would sneak in their room to watch it with them. I’m 19 now about to be 20 soon and this is still easily one of my all time favorite movies. So is American History X funny enough this video made me want to go rewatch that too

I did loved the distribution of drugs in the game, it made it feel like if you were actually managing the drug empire.
What I also love about this game is the interaction to a lot of people. The programing of voice was insane. That I think we can't find on modern games

I grew up playing this game as a kid. My Ps2 copy broke, so I got a copy on Xbox. One of the best third-person shooters of all time for me. It's amazing how many games I have in common with this channel!
I think Rockstar Games took inspiration from this game for adding the empire building mechanic in Gta Vice City Stories. Besides ,GTA VCS was released in the same month

I really relate to this though in a bit more harsh of a light. I remember having an active dislike for games such as Oblivion and BioShock for roughly a year after they came out largely just because I was right at that age cusp of my parents eventually not caring anymore what I played.

@@MJTbreww Bad PC port for those old machines. In Win10, i'm currently running it at 1080p 60fps, no hiccups, no crashes. Way way better than if I played it with my PS2.
flyingspagetti I’m on windows 10 also, couldn’t manage to get it running smoothly sadly. Got it working alright at one point but the second mission paired with low frame rate on a GTX 1080 was hurting it lol
@@MJTbreww Download the dll wrapper for the d3d9.dll for the game and you're set to go. A guy named Federico Dossena made a wrapper for all Direct9 games that stutter in modern PCs (Vice City, Pirates of the Carribean, etc). It's not the graphic card (got 2 GTX1080 Ti in SLI) that does the stuttering, it's the outdated software that renders the game.
The 928 Porsche, it got Jeremy to see his dad before passing and kept the chicken warm. So it's alright in my book.

You should review The Warriors for original xbox (or ps2, but i think xbox is better imo). Its seriously the best movie game ever in my opinion. It is based on everything that happened before the movie, and halfway through you plah the avtual movie, but you do all of the missing places in the movie. It ties in the movie so well. Its a great movie, and with the game, everything feels a LOT more complete.
I broke my controller over that goddamn game. I could never get away from the cops quick enough and got constantly suplexed. Good times.

Scarface the film is one of the only movies I can think of that I can call a masterpiece absolutely truthfully. It's one of the greatest films of the last 100 years, easily.
Man I remember my first graphics card died when I was playing the game. Ever since I never had the BALLS to even launch it lmao.
back in 2009 when i first played i didnt expect much but i was pleasantly surprised by how good it was . the animation were great the movement was slow and made you rely on shooting more than movement you felt like a small tank.. the shooting mechanics were great.. you can shoot manually or with helf assisted aim.. there ae body part hitboxes and everything was violent and brutal even the sound design of guns and screams of pains..the guns felt unique and handeled great..the cover system meant you couldnt aim well and was a nice way to balance the safer play style.. it was innovative in many ways like the use of your phone and back up calls .the fact that you can access your guns from you car trunck and the ability to shoot from cars and small things like talking to npcs hud the animations when getting shot or the blood stains on your outfit.. and the fact that you can buy decorations and customize your mansion and when your cars are destroyed that stay that way until you fix them.. it even had multiple playable characters .sadly with all these novel and immersive mechanics there is really no much to do with them . the map is empty and you are left to role play by yourself .. and you ignore the action side of the game and focus on playing it like a management sim..but like you said its decent at first because you starting from scratch yet after a while you are still micro managing everything which kill odd the immersion of being a multimillionaire even in the last mission when you kill sosa and he has like an army and you broguth 2 poeple with you.. thankfully when i played i didnt know this and kept playing thinking there are more things to unlock.overall great game for its time

I actually played the Xbox version via Xbox 360 backwards compatibility in 2006. I loved it almost just as much as the GTA games of that era. Very underrated game, plus playing as Tony Montana was a dream come true for this massive Scarface fan.

Ahh, memories of bringing my Playstation downstairs hungover on a Saturday morning and playing this for hours on end. Good times.
Some how I remember it was better than mafia 3 in 2017.
I went into this game with no idea what it was about besides it being a scarface game. I bought it around release and watched the film before playing and I absolutely loved it. I still consider it a top 5 ps2 and wouldn't change a thing. These ps2/xbox open world games hold a special place for me

Released over 10 years ago and has features that GTA still doesn't have - the ability to have cars delivered to you any where on the map, ability to travel abroad (Bolivia and Caribbean islands) and a safehouse with customisable interior.
