  • The most recent CR-V Hybrid takes the already-popular Honda CR-V among small SUVs to the next level with its innovative blend of utility, efficiency, and refinement. It outperforms the non-hybrid CR-V in terms of power and fuel economy, with the sole drawback being a small loss of cargo space caused by the hybrid battery's positioning. Impressively, for a vehicle with this much passenger and cargo room inside, the hybrid model comes standard with front-wheel drive and is rated by the EPA to achieve 40 mpg combined. Additionally, the all-wheel-drive setup is frugal, earning a combined fuel economy rating of 37 mpg. All CR-V models that end in "Sport" come standard with a hybrid powertrain; the CR-V Hybrid range includes Sport, Sport-L, and Sport Touring models. The hybrid powertrain of the CR-V generates 204 horsepower, which is 14 more than the 190 hp produced by the nonhybrid version. It does this by combining a 2.0-liter four-cylinder with two electric motors. The blend is pleasant-not fast, but smooth, calm, and fulfilling all the same. Although the Sport Hybrid is available with either front- or all-wheel drive, the Sport Touring Hybrid comes standard with all-wheel drive. The CR-V Hybrid may not have the same level of agility as the Mazda CX-50 or Volkswagen Tiguan, but it makes up for it with a comfortable ride and enough attitude to keep things interesting behind the wheel. The front-wheel-drive Sport and Sport-L models are the most fuel-efficient CR-V Hybrids, with fuel economy ratings of 43 mpg in the city and 36 mpg on the interstate. The all-wheel-drive Sport Touring Hybrid obtained a somewhat lower score of 31 mpg on our real-world 75-mph highway fuel-economy route, compared to its rated 40 mpg city and 34 mpg highway. For further details regarding the CR-V Hybrid's efficiency on the road.
