2025 Honda CR-V LX - Does The Base Trim Level Have ENOUGH Features?

  • The Honda CR-V remains mostly unchanged following a complete redesign in 2023, with the addition of a new Sport-L trim being the only change. The Sport-L bridges the gap between Sport Hybrid and Sport Touring Hybrid, offering a value-packed model with most of the tech and comfort features customers are looking for but keeping other options off or as optional equipment. The CR-V seats 5 passengers and is offered only as a 4-door wagon. Competitors include the Ford Escape, Hyundai Tucson, Jeep Cherokee, Kia Sorento, Mazda CX-5, Nissan Rogue, Toyota RAV4 and Volkswagen Tiguan. A hybrid variant is available.
    Six trims are available: LX, EX, Sport Hybrid, EX-L, Sport-L Hybrid, and Sport Hybrid Touring. Two engines are offered: A turbocharged 1.5-liter 4-cylinder that makes 190 horsepower and pairs to a continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT), while the Hybrid utilizes a 2.0-liter four-cylinder combined with two electric motors and continuously variable automatic (CVT) to produce 204 total horsepower. Front-wheel drive is standard with all-wheel drive being optional. Pricing ranges from $31,100-$40,800.

    Awesome video! Your overview mirrors what my wife and I found out when we personally (and physically) checked out the LX trim level (she's a retired mechanical engineer and I'm a retired software engineer). Our situation at time of purchase this July was we're both 64 and our trade-in vehicle was a 2000 Toyota Solara with a 6 cyl engine which we bought brand new 'way back in 2000 and drove into the ground. So our knowledge of today's vehicle tech was literally non-existent. The LX's tech safety features are exactly what we need without higher end bells and whistles that we don't need or want. As for the blind spot detection tech..yeah, that would be nice to have but it's not critical since proper mirror positioning and just common-sense good driving practices handles it. We're getting used to the CRV's dimensions being larger than our old Solara 2-door coupe but that's part of the fun of a new car.
    For us, the interior comfort level is wonderful for multi-hour road trips and the ride is incredibly smooth. Acceleration is good enough for our local roads and highways. Letting the "Brake Hold" feature keeping the brake on with my foot off the brake pedal can be helpful on long in-city trips but the 1-second hesitation when pressing the gas pedal to release the brake hold is turning out to be a bit annoying and I don't recommend it when dealing with a lot of traffic lights. One CRV feature that is absolutely wonderful is the adaptive cruise control; that I *_do_* recommend!

    Great review. I purchased a 2024 Honda CR-V LX in April of this year. It has everything that I need and I love it. Would have appreciated having BSM. There’s only one thing that I really dislike about my CR-V and that is when you open driver door all doors open. My 2004 Camry opened driver door on first click of key fob and other doors if I clicked again. This avoids anyone from getting into your car when you’re alone. As great a brand as Honda is I’m really surprised that it does not have that feature. That’s just my opinion.

      It does have that option, you have to go into the settings and change that.

      @@b.watson8966We’re trying to decide on a CR V but have an odd hesitation: it’s slightly too big for us but we like the smooth and silky drivetrain a lot. Dislikes include the black alloy wheels and we’d like to get the power tailgate due to the height of the garage door. You have height control setting starting with the EX I think. It’s expensive but it’s more comfy than the RAV4 by far with decent room in the second row. I may wind up buying after market chrome alloy wheels if we buy. We couldn’t find the coolant temperature gauge on our test drive and neither could our salesman.

    I don't like that they took the horizontal lights off this trim level. I'm pissed I wasn't informed! I could have kept my 2019 until next year and paid it off

      Ever since folks agreed to paying full MSRP for vehicles , the dealerships took notice and realized how much $$$ they could make , these prices never went away . Never pay full MSRP or any where close . Pay $5k under

    CVT is a dealbreaker, I had a 2010 CRV all wheel drive and I loved it never got stuck in the snow, went to a pick up truck and going back to an SUV now and I will not buy a CVT vehicle.

    Not enough features. I ended up with an 2024 EX-L instead.
    - wireless Apple car play
    - driver’s side 2 button memory
    - power lift hatch
    Not required but it also came with leather seats.

    Is there Bluetooth for an android?

    • @davidsmart41
      @davidsmart41 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes. I use it for music off my android phone. I did find that tethering the phone to the infotainment center does override the Bluetooth capability though so you can use one or the other. I use Bluetooth for just music on my phone and tethering for having Google Maps access and display on the infotainment center screen. There is likely a way to tether for both maps and music but I haven't taken the time to figure it out yet.
