My theory is that the forward cant is to compensate for misaligned trunnions found commonly on the rifle versions. I angled down the Warsaw Pact rail i bolted to my rifle as well. But not to compensate for 500m bullet drop, but rather so the FFP POSP reticle remained centered in the FOV when zeroing at 100m. Because the barrel on my rifle is not only canted to the right, but also down lol
Can't say I'm a huge fan of the forward cant on TI's rail, or the one for the DMR. I understand the logic/purpose behind that, but it's just so aesthetically unpleasant. What I am more interested in here is that brass deflector you have on your DMR. It obviously 'floats' on a hinge that use the carrying handle bracket thingy, but I'd still like to get a closer look for sure.
Don't know if you have the funds, but TI has confirmed the side mount rail that ships with the Kobra red kit is different then the one for the Picatinny kit. The Kobra rail may fit some of your Eastern Bloc optics, and may we'll be missing the cant sideways on the Pic rail mount. Maybe you can convince them to send you a mounting plate? It would give further notice to their product.
@@gnutzguy If I find out TI is selling the Kobra side mount plate separately, I will post it here. A fellow on CGN has speculated the Kobra rail should work with any ComBloc mount that has a universal rear stop, but not the SVD front stop. We will see. Thanks!
An update for you @Gnutzguy ; CGN members have procured the Kobra kit, and have fit non-TI 1913 mounts and other scopes mounts on the Kobra plate without issue. It has been described as an AK-universal style mount side plate. TI continues to refuse to sell the Kobra side rail separately from the scope. I suspect this is attempt to recoup their R&D in developing their variant of no drill mount. Proposal for you; do you have a spare non-TI universal AK mounting plate, or could you somehow fabricate one , that could be tapped and threaded in the proper spots to attach to the TI threaded hammer and trigger pins? Or have 3-d printed plastics become strong enough you could reproduce a printed copy of the plate, and then drill it out like the Foxstrap Type 81 to VZ stock adapter? I don't have the firearm or the money to procure one, so just suggesting this as a possible video subject. Thanks!
I think the offset might be ur mount i just got one and it is centered not off to the left but I do still have the small wings on the rail like yours i think the qc might be off a bit i do have to say i had to use a rubber mallet for the first 5 times off and on it was so tight now it is rock solid and straight as an arrow
Hi! How it is going on right now? I have got Vz58 and wanna put red dot on it. Please share your experience using side rail for this. Any wobbling, or different problems?
no wobble bcos its uses 3 screws. since you are using red dot and if yours is a fixed stock Optic ready with high VZ58 mount then check out my Gnutzguy's no drill side mount- 3 pins... th-cam.com/video/L2b79LsUOnQ/w-d-xo.html . much easier to make.
That doesn't look like a POSP style mount, but alright. Personally, I'd tell you to steer clear of mount sold for less than a hundred dollars. I bought six mounts to test out (each pricier than the last) and I ended up using the priciest of them all (NPZ Universal AK mount). The locking mechanism is probably the greatest determining factor, and the one used by TI's mount is kinda jank in my opinion. In any case, forget mounts that say 'SVD' or 'Forward Stop' in their name as they 100% will not fit TI's mount. Anything with a central locking cam also won't (recognizable by a brass colored lever in the middle that throws sideway) unless you modify the rail. You want a rear stop, always. The ohhunt mount can be found on aliexpress for even cheaper, which is an immediate disqualification in my book. But, if you're still willing to thread that silk road, you can now find RS Regulate-type repros on aliexpress. If you want to actually buy a real PSO/POSP, then you're looking at 300 to 400 dollars for the scope with integrated mount at the very least. Don't buy repro made for airsoft, and try to see if whatever you're buying was made by BelOMO or NPZ. Disregard with extreme prejudice if it isn't. The optic game is an easy field to waste money in. 99% of the time it's better to save up and buy the pricier option than to try and shirk with cheaper alternatives. P.S. Same with regular mounts, don't buy PSO/POSP scopes with SVD-type stops (sometime also labelled SKS-type). Look for 'AK' or 'Universal' (though not everything labelled Universal will do either). That is, unless you slap on your own side rail unto the receiver, in which case your options aren't as limited if you got an appropriate rail (or if you are willing to modify it). My own rail sits almost in the exact same spots as the one on Gnutzguy's DMR, but a bit lower. Can't use mounts with a forward stop lug, but I got no problem with central locking cams.
there was a rare type of red dot that mount on the rear of the receiver for T81 (only less than a thousand) it was never mass-produced for an unknown reason. And even some people who work in the Chinese small arms system don't have more information about it. the Chinese-made SVD( type 79 and 85) has a stability problem on the side rail. Until QBZ95 and QBU88 use dovetail rail.
@@gnutzguy yeah Chinese army never considered to adopt it. It might be just for research purposes. Chinese army favorite the Swarovski on the AUG, so the scope come with QBZ95 is a LP non-VO

Are you or anyone you know selling one of these Type 81 picatinny mounts?? I have been searching for one to purchase and its been a struggle to say the least..
It is one of the few semi-automatic magazine-fed centerfire rifles that are both very reliable and affordable (from the dealer at least), and surprisingly good performance. Unfortunately, especially since 2020, our options of having comparable rifles are limited to say the least, and with the exception of the Type 97 (which I am also looking for), other rifles with similar characteristics will range from $2500 to $5000 or more. I have encountered malfunctions on the B&T APC223 I used to have, and also on my CZ Bren 2 Ms in 5.56 which I still have, but never have I ever ran into any kind of stoppage from my Type 81 despite putting more rounds through it than both the others combined, of which most were ungodly surplus ammunition of questionable origin, and very good accuracy can be achieved using decent loads such as Hornady Black SST; and of course, it is a fraction of the price of the others I mentioned.

Lol, no .... They should have cancelled production of the $200 Picatinny side rail after the 4th shipment of OR version .
They cancelled the Picatinny rail kit too soon, when they are two more shipments of OR still to arrive.

good eye, its made from 3/4" copper pipe, unfolded and some what flatten. bolted to the carrying handle bracket, might as well make it useful.
