    Just curious do you recommend having ventilation/exhaust fans in small candle studios. And what other safety tips.

      Yah it's a manufacturer raw material shortage. All suppliers short on some specific wick types. Should have an update soon

    I recently bought a series of premiere wicks from you & having trouble. What is your recommendation on a 454 coconut soy blend wax with the diameter of the jar being 3.06?

  • @brianhiggins5258

    I have another question that seems to float around a lot.
    Do you prime or soak wooden wicks in oil or pre-wax them?

    Do you think someone could start off with just wax melts and then build from there? Or would you recommend being able to do both before launch?

    Hi Wade. Can you tell me what makes some paraffin whiter than some? The first wax I bought is a creamy white wax which I like very much. I was told that it is paraffin but I have no way of knowing for sure because it had no label. I then bought paraffin from Direct Candle Supply and it is translucent. I make small birthday candles so I don’t use jars or any containers if that helps.

    Hi Wade love your videos! Question I buy my Premier Wicks from you and I always have leftover wick lengths after cutting. What size/kind of those little metal tabs do I get so I can use the leftover wick?

    • @BlackTieBarn
      @BlackTieBarn  ปีที่แล้ว

      You can buy the tabs individually yes but I'm not sure where off hand. Some suppliers carry them. They are cheap. But you'd only have enough left over to make very shallow candles like tins or votive. It'd also time consuming to recrimp them all. So you certainly can, but with the cost of wicks being so cheap many often find it not worth it.

      Candle science has an article up about a way to use leftovers (including the trimmed off wicks) for making fire starters for camping and fireplaces.

    I have a great question that I can't seem to find an answer for. Do you warm your tins prior pouring wax? I know you do for glass but I can't seem to get a solid answer. If so how? With a heat gun? In the oven on warm setting? Please help!!!!

    • @BlackTieBarn
      @BlackTieBarn  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I don't unless they were super cold because in garage or something like that. Then you can use heat gun if doing a few, oven, heat lamps etc

    I’ve made my first two batches of candles, the first time, I thought i measured out the exact amount I needed for 10% fragrance load. I ended up having 8 ounces more wax than I needed. The second time, I had 16 ounces more than I needed. I made calculations for 9 eight ounce candles both times. I have a newish Amazon scale, is it not accurate, or am I reading it wrong? The second batch was for a fragrance load of 9%, which would be 66 ounces of wax and 6 ounces of fragrance oil. I’m not using fluid ounces for weighing, the only one I can use is the lb;oz mode. To me, it came out as 4.125. I’m so confused, whatever insight/answer you could give would be gratefully appreciated. Am I reading the scale wrong?

    Just judging by the repeat questions in Facebook groups and subreddits, I would just assume nobody uses Google for candlemaking information. Just kinda cracks me up. "Read the sticky"

    once again a great video!! I was glad but surprised that type of wax wasnt at near the top of what matters - I ask the most popular gift store in our area and she said 80% ask if it is soy wax - so I am really hoping that is just her store lol~ I still can't see how anyone can get a really strong throw off just soy and boy have I tried

    • @BlackTieBarn
      @BlackTieBarn  ปีที่แล้ว

      Its increased for sure but most people don't even know why they asking. Soy blends cover most their questions.

    Ok question…and since I know that you mentioned “the older the video, the harder it is for me to respond”…I figured this is a close enough topic for me to ask the question. I’m getting ready for a holiday craft faire and I need to know where you purchased your branded table cloth and your signage. I have used Vista Print in the past but is that like for Boomers now? 😂 Who’s the latest vendor to use?
    Thank you, good sir!

    My candle flame burns bright for initial 2 hours , but the flame becomes very low for next 2 hrs, and again picks up to burn beautifully till the very last burn. How can i resolve this issue, plz advise.
    And my candle passed the power burn sequence beautifully, becoz its good for intial 2 hrs and gets a rest before next 3 hrs , so thats so problem at all

    • @BlackTieBarn
      @BlackTieBarn  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      To me it sounds like its doing well. It won't necessarily burn the exact same way through the entire candle
