I was in pools with M2K and Ally for smash 4 doubles at The Big House 6 and my partner and I lost and I remember watching them in the next pools match destroying these two Luigi dittos. I laughed so hard!

Very interesting video! One thing I have a difficult time grasping is how you seemingly prioritize match-ups over your own skill with a character. Particularly, sure, Peach destrooooys ICs, but Marth doesn't get bopped or anything. With legacy and continued relevance taken into account, you're the best Marth of all time, and a better player than any ICs main ever. As a viewer who wants you to win, I just feel the gap between your Marth and Peach is greater than the margin that Peach beats ICs, over Marth. I feel the same way in regards to Puff, on some level. HBox is *obviously* an expert vs Fox, but he doesn't exactly lose to Marths. But Plup has shown it can be done with Sheik repeatedly. Anyway, I just wish you'd apply this thinking a little bit more. You've done it some already though; like not universally using Sheik on Dreamland anymore against Foxes, or even Armada's Peach. Anyway, maybe you just *really* hate ICs and think it's less risky to use Peach. Regardless, all the best to you, and I always pull for you to win it all. Good luck man. :3
My favorite arc in the M2K Smash 4 anime was when he used Donkey Kong. He looked like he had a lot of fun using him, and it was funny watching him beat players like MVD. As for Melee, his Marth is the most fun to watch, as is his Sheik. I still remember when he randomly beat Duck with Mewtwo that one time.

It didn't really make it into the documentary, which is probably why people don't know a lot about it, but LSL and other outlets are doing some awesome stuff on that. Anyway, that's a reason that Pound 3 was so important, because everyone assumed we'd move on to brawl afterward. It was even called the "last melee tournament." That happened a little bit, but not completely, which made it a bit of a dark age. Then came ROM and Genesis, which started things back up and built the foundation for what we have now.
Accoring to SSBWiki, M2K has won $34K from Brawl, while example Smash 4 "only" $15K, so yeah ,it was very big scene, but I don't know anything about it either..
I was born 3 years after melee was made, and I did that play it until 2010, and I was like always used Roy, and my brother used Marth which he was 15, and so when Brawl was out, I was playing in 2012, and so I was sad that Roy wasn't there so then I used Marth, and my brother was an ike main, and so after like a year we switched mains, and I was 9 yrs old and I was an ike user. Smash 4 was the first game I got the year it was released, and I was 10, and I used Ike, and I then saw that he wasn't as good, and I was going to Lucas, but I saw a year prior that he wasn't going to be in smash, and so I just went to Ness. I saw alot of things Brawl didn't have like ness' final smash where it wasn't as flashy, but I loved Pit's Final smash and Kirby's. Fast forward Roy's debut, I got a 20 dollar Nintendo eShop card, (I was only 11) and so I used it on the 3DS and got Lucas Roy and Ryu, but then realized after we tried to use it on the Wii U that it can't be done. it wasn't until last year that I bought The Dlc since parental controls and my Mom forgot the password. I am now a Pit, Roy and Lucas Main.
I was in 6th grade when I used to saw one of those melee tournament vids back in the day. It was like where it was MLG and it was Hbox's birthday and it was grand finals against Mango. And the Fox and Falco match somewhere.
The fact that Mew2King is able to do so well while juggling completely different games and characters shows he is truly one of, if not *the*, greatest Smasher(s) of all time.
He is my idol for Smash he was the one who brought the competitive side of Smash to my attention and I love how Mew2King plays and he is still my favorite idol for Smash!
Armada and M2K had their first tournament the same week and they both got destroyed. Their revenge inspired fear among all smash players for a decade and a half.

Am I wrong in thinking he might be better off as a solo Marth main? His movement and fluidity with that character is far and away the best he plays to my eyes, his most dominant era in melee was the Marth era, and Marth is great vs Ice Climbers. So the only question would be if the Marth could do it against Hbox, which I believe he could but I don't have nearly the knowledge depth to know for sure.

David Birkenmayer he pretty much picked the best characters at the time and stuck with them until he "retired." First it was peach and he had a a Falco and puff, then it was Mewtwo and Mario and Fox, and over time he had those and falcon and he adapted his Melee characters to PM. It's complicated.
Literally everyone that Roy was way better than Marth when they played casually as a kid. Nobody actually knew about Tippers or if they did, didn't know how to space them, and Marth can't kill for shit without them. I remember when I played Marth in Brawl, I was absolutely shocked to learn he was good in Melee, I thought he was the single character who improved the most between the games. He was one of the only characters in melee that really felt "bad" to me as a kid, along with like, Pichu and Luigi.
I remember being at the King of the Couch tournaments with m2k. I had just started too and I was 13 at the time. There was one tournament where both M2k and I were in a round robin with a bunch of other players and we lost to everyone else. My puff beat his Marth and he got all concerned and stuff, but then he went Fox and was able to beat me. It was good times.

I think trying to play the hardest character - who is also the one that people have the most practice with - instead of getting good at the shiek-puff or marth-puff matchups is silly. I think it only adds inconsistency, and with no time wasted practicing fox, he'd have more time to get better eith shiek and marth. also, both matchups are at least 50-50 (maybe 60-40 for puff if she's a stock up?) so they are definitely winnable
