when I found out my mum hated me playing this game as a kid, I grew to love it even more haha! not sure what it was, either the flash's from the screen giving off a strobe effect in the whole room, the (pretty nasty for its time) techno/hardcore synth noises or the swearing f bombs, or a combination of all 3. this game was punk af! it's a real powerhouse of a game.
That is funny that your mum hated you playing lamatron. My mum played it once in a blue moon. I asked her why she liked playing it. She said that she liked to pretend they were her students. Exact quote. I have a good memory. The reason I remembered was because she did not specify who were her students in the game. The enemy that she shoots, or the animals that she saved from the enemy.
Such a classic game, took me ages to remember its title. My favourites were turrican2 and switch blade also battle squadron all time classics. On c64 its monty mole
@@bunders2780 I also played Turrican 2 and Turrican 3 and Switch Blade II a lot with my father when i was a kid, fantastic games, i made BIG maps of the levels of Switch Blade II, great times.
Sometimes it'll play "Oh fu*BOOM*" when you die, but the sound sample has the whole "Oh fuck!" and I remember hearing it play in it's entirety at least once a long time ago when I was kid playing it on a real Amiga.
@@rotareneg I've read that earlier copies of the game played a more audible "oh fuck!" sample upon death, but presumably due to censorship concerns or something, later versions of the game truncated it to be cut off by a sound effect (like in this video), but I'm not sure if this is actually true or a rumor. In any event, people seem to be adamant the game once used to actually say "fuck" in a more clear and understandable manner, but that this seems to have been bowdlerized in many existing copies.
Jeff Minter made a bunch of ungulate-themed arcade shooters, like besides this and Revenge of the Mutant Camels, there are like two or three others iirc, but I can't remember the names of most of them
Me and my mate use to play this a lot on the Atari ST, happy memories :)

Aaah the ,Epilepsy Llamas‘ - fun times.
Wow, now i feel old, I remeber this on the 600/1200, it was tricky with the joystick to get the diagonal movements.
lol this is a blast from the past.
Loved the sound effects on this and it was one of the few shoot em ups I enjoyed,I was more a dungeon crawler gamer.

that last wave, holy shit.
A Bewildebeest production!
My mom loves this game
Is there an end to this game? I read there are 99 levels but I've never seen anyone get that far
Does anyone remember llamatron saying 'fuck you' at the end when you die?

@@vanessaashford9203 I recall my version would say "oh fuck" if you paused it at the right time. It would also loop the quote twice.
Something called a Llama-Tron is in fortnite.
It’s a TV or something.
Name rip off or what.
There's a sequel to this game but I can't find it. I remember playing on a demo disk.
I found it. 'Revenge of the Mutant Camels'

Obviously a Rush fan was involved given the year the game takes place...
i seem to remember the high scores table were all bands until you registered some
This was such a good game! I have to say though that you are not very good at it.
I think it was more forgiving than games like R-type.
@@Kavlor1 I used to be good at Ghosts 'n' Goblins, dude. My wife bought me a console with it built in and I'm now officially shite at it!
@@Kavlor1 I could get past wave 99 to where the waves restart but are much harder. Yes, agreed, R-Type was hard.
