So good. Just a great, great band, who will live on forever in Canadian nostalgia. When you hear their music, you hear Canada, and you hear Sloan, and this is undeniable. That is true success.
Nah, you have to be a sellout to make it in the us. Look at the Canadian bands/artists that have done it recently. Pretty much all crap, a lot of garbage, and some junk thrown in for good measure.
always found this song would be something the Beatles or the stones would of done they mention Ringo too...looks like the vid for hey Jude.. lots of memories with this song holay!!
To the source consciousness that inspired this song, the lines amended are to do with living in a world that tries to hide it's extreme hatred towards you but that you can feel it loud and clear!
This music video always made me think of a mid-60's Rolling Stones appearance on one of the tv shows of the time. It has visual and stylistic vibes of Mick, Brian, and Keith.
Great f'in song love it.. Sloan you guys rock, always did, no shit one of the best band in this whole damned world :) cheers and see you guys next time you're in Moncton.. rock on
I don't know about Andrew as Ringo. He and Jay are both kinda like George; more experimental songwriting, and introverted personality. Chris is, like Paul, more of an extrovert. Musically I agree that Patrick and Murph are all about catchy songs with barbed hooks that get under your skin (in a good way), so that part of the analogy checks out. They really aren't co-writers in the same way, however. Let's just hope the band doesn't break up, followed by people blaming Patrick's new asian girlfriend. Imagine how pissed his wife would be 😜
If in another parallel universe the Beatles had actually formed in the mid 90s one could easily imagine them sounding like this. Bands like Sloan, Blue Rodeo and the Tragically Hip never made it big in the US but to me it doesn’t matter as we don’t need validation from Americans to know when our own music is good.
I am in this video it was recorded at York University and funny story I have Chris Murphy's sunglasses that he is wearing in this lol,. After the shoot that lasted all day he put them down and I grabbed them lol
Recently rediscovered Odds, just discovered Sloan! Really Canada, how many other great 90s guitar bands have you been hiding? Or is it just these 2? Great indie pop
but...when they rock they can kick ass with their Marshall and Hiwatt amps ... but only at # 7 volume! Would not want to be offensive like The Who or Joe Walsh!!! We Canadians are quite aware of our position in The International Pecking Order!!! (Ask Neil Young or Joni Mitchell.)
To ensure your enemy is the strongest they can be, you make sure they have a warm home and enough money to buy healthy food. So that they’re healthy and happy. This is the Universal Basic Income. Let’s give our enemies a guaranteed minimum income of $1,500ish USD/month. Let’s test ourselves! Homeless people aren’t great competition…
Music doesn’t get any better than this. Sloan, you rule.

people missed out on this great band. they should have been big in the states
Bobby Redwine that's ok Canada loves them even more!
It's hard to break into the USA as a Canadian band. It's ok though, they are legends here at home
I remember hearing them on mtv in 96 and loved them ever since then

Who cares about the States. Why does everybody need other people to like the bands they like? Why can't we just like Sloan ourselves?

Top 5 favorite Sloan songs
I was at their concert in Dallas at Three Links. Sloan played this song during the encore! It was fantastic and the crowd loved it!
Wow I can’t believe I missed that.
This was always my fave Sloan song.
Great shy Canadian Boys...like me!!! Very creative guys.
Perfectly crafted song, a la The Ballad of John and Yoko...
I never stick around anymore... *Peace, love & somethin else!*
One of the best power pop songs I've heard. Incredibly full of hooks!

This one has an Emitt Rhodes vibe to it. Love it.

Just saw them the other day at a New Year's Eve show in Barrie, Ontario. They were great!
Back when Sloan had “that magic” in spades!..
So Glad I heard this group love 'em
I’m in love with Andrew (drummer) introverted and adorable 🥰 😘
Patrick - John
Chris - Paul
Jay - George
Andrew - Ringo
Canadian Beatles
It's so accurate omg

CaptainTedStryker RE: Patrick’s asian girlfriend - him and his wife could be polyamorous so you never know... 😁
Breakfasting to this song on my rooftop… love you guys!!! ❤ loyal fan since I was a teenybopper #freepalestine #ceasefirenow
…While I’m skipping shells and listen’n to The Stones!..
this is both a sad song and an upbeat song
The most pleasant song about suicide I have ever heard. It's sweet and somber at the same time.
Os caras são bons mesmo não tem jeito
epic

Sloan= Canadian Beatles?
or Canadian Oasis?
I think Canadian blur. But that may just be their adorableness factor.
I always dug the fact they're a Nova Scotia band
easily one of the most consistent band. every album is as good as, or better than the album before it. I say the same thing about the Beatles.
The Canadian Beatles would be Bare Naked Ladies. (at least until they kicked "John" out).
The Beatles influence is strong with this one!
Jay way always my George herrison.
Recently rediscovered Odds, just discovered Sloan! Really Canada, how many other great 90s guitar bands have you been hiding? Or is it just these 2? Great indie pop
check out Thrush Hermit, superfriendz or Inbreds!
SLOAN is the best underrated CDN band. Try 54-40 ?
Another gooder is Junkhouse... grungy folk/rock... also The Pursuit of Happiness and 13 Engines.
@@michaelhughes7994 54-30 definitely most underrated. both band are awesome live
Rusty!
There is duct-tape on the drum tops. Is that to change the sound, or so they last longer?
Just who IS this previously-unsung ANDY SABOLA??…
I didn't know Charlie Bucket was in Sloan
Michael Bolton on guitar.
That’s not him…
young Mick Jagger on vocals

neil young is as Canadian as I am Vietnamese. He’s lived in the states since at least 1965.
@@MrJett1971 So has Joni. Freedom of Choice, man! Burton Cummings came back here permanently from L.A. last year.
A suicide note was never more tuneful!…
JAY FERGUSION LOOKS LIKE A CHUCK NORRIS
He needs the signature Chuck shades, that's how he turns into Walker!
