Cabinets must ALWAYS be SPRAYED ~ NEVER use a brush or roller as it'll just take longer and in the end you'll have inferior results. If you could see the difference IN PERSON you'd understand immediately.

@@REALITYRENOVISION She's right....you remind me a lot of my dad. My dad always took young couples under his wing and showed them the things THEY could do themselves without having to pay someone big $$. Our first house was a Cape Cod (one of those that were built after the Korean War where you finished the two bedrooms upstairs "when your family grew" is how I think these homes were sold. Our house had a fire in the top two bedrooms....and this was a classic thing, mistakes that were made by backyard (or weekend contractors). Thank God when that fire happened the township had rules in place that if a fire happened, you had to have a professional re-wire the (electrical) the house......
When we started "freshening" up the house, we thought we could paint those metal cupboards in the kitchen but they were AWFUL.....I found a shop (privately owned) that had some cabinets that someone had ordered and didn't take them. They were gorgeous Merilat (sp) Cupboards with a wicker insert in the drawers.....I got the entire set of kitchen cabinets for $500!! I also got a piece of countertop that "looked" like butcher-block for $20!! because it was CUT wrong!
Thanks for telling about how to find reasonably priced counter tops......I am re-doing our kitchen right now.

    • @JOIHIINI

I am actually doing this right now eith a triplex but no paint job, just bought 2 outdated kitchens on kijiji for 400$, most of them are standard sizes 24, 30, 36 inch based etc with 12, 15 ,18, 24, and 30 inch uppers. ,and I'm using ikea enhet white shaker doors (the cheap budget kitchen at ikea), a 12 inch 30" high door is 16$, however the doors are actually the exact same as home depot white shakers. I use the base white cover panels to side the cabinets and use the toe kicks to fill the spaces in between doors and frame them with 2 by 2 in between cabinet spaces to give it a custom look. Spent about 500$ on doors and cover panels along with about 600$ on updated droors and dampers for hinges where necessary, 50 pack of black matte handles from Amazon for totalled about 150$. The kitchens I bought were quite large so they were able to make all 3 kitchens at the house out of the cabinet bases that came with them. Then shopped for quartz cutoffs from local suppliers and built the kitchens around the existing countertops and averaged about 400$ per counter and bought sinks 200$ a piece. So I averaged about 1300 per kitchen and they look completely brand new

I really don't understand how you only have 163k subs. Two years ago, mid 2019, my house flooded. I got a $5,000 insurance payout but that was nearly enough to pay for the water clean up, mold treatment, drywalling, insulating, and new flooring. I watched this channel for a couple weeks to learn how to do it all, AND basic plumbing for the bathroom I was already planning to remodel. Went to Menards and Home Depot, bought the tools and supplies. Got it all done by myself, no help from even family, in a few months time. Just sold that house for $20k more than I bought it for last month. Not sure if it was market value increasing naturally or the work I put in, but regardless, thank you brother.

No your just making a problem for somebody else later, take the sheetrock and cheap tile out and replace with the proper tile backer board, its not that much area . If you have to go around a corner edge trim and bullnose around the edges are desighned for one layer of tile not 2 . You dont but tile on top of tile, its not the proper way, i dont care what kind of glue you use, its not the way you do it.

He didn't explained about the city code regarding the electrical outlet by the kitchen sink? The city code on countertop electrical outlets should be a GFCI receptacle installed within 24". On the video you can clearly see no GFCI outlet installed in the first place before the start of the project. Not safety at all, the kitchen sink is always a wet surface area.

great video, a few years ago we were looking at a kitchen reno, decided to just take the cheap for functional melamine cabinet doors off use a hair dryer to get the glue off, light sand and paint. Thought was not likely to work but willing to put the time in as cost was very cheap. Was very surprised how well it turned out! Did a subway tile backsplash (first tile job ever), was very happy with how that turned out. new fixtures and sink. Ended up doing a bamboo countertop. Looks great, does require more work needing to be oiled once or so per year and does stain a tiny bit though we like how the look is always evolving. To get a stain out just put down a bit more mineral oil and the stain melts away.
It's amazing how a little bit of work, mostly paint to a lighter colour completely changes the space. More light looks far larger. If you can extend cabinet and counter down a galley kitchen can create a ton new space for little loss.

Interesting concepts to tile over tile and lay vinyl plank over other. I would've loved to have seen close ups on the brushed aluminum trim and the transition, reinstalled baseboards. The tile looked lovely, but I'd like to see the details shown more clearly after finishing. Your explanations are quite well done!

Great video. Thanks for updating us. What we did with our dark oak cabinets was to degrease with tsp and rinse rinse rinse it off and then sand so you don’t drive the grease into the wood. Sand until you think your done and then sand some more. Two coats of primer allowing a full day between coats to dry. Then two coats of an enamel top coat paint allowing at-least 2 or 3 days to dry between coats. Then let cure couple weeks before putting on hardware and installing. Lots of work but you won’t regret it. We just posted on our channel a 2 and half yr update video on our painting results.

Using bleach on quartz can start to dull the shine and since quartz is a non-porous product, you cannot put a sealant on quartz.

You should NEVER tile over tile on a bathroom shower or tub wall. The floor is okay if the prep is done first. It will raise your floor and be aware when you go to reset the toilet you'll need a longer toilet flange. This was a nice way to freshen up an old kitchen for less.

The guy over and measured and at the end of his sales pitch the total we got quoted for out kitchen was $30,000 - to REFACE our existing cabinets! Total joke! We ended up buying new cabinets from Dreamline cabinets in a Chicago suburb and saved big time money! I really like this method of upgrading the kitchen and if I would have seen this video 2 years ago I might have done it this way - looks great! How is this channel just a TH-cam deal?
