I really appreciate how you explain in great detail every step. I am a beginner and this us my first REAL crochet project besides a scarf. I have made one for my eight year old today and am half way done with a smaller version for my new guy, due in three weeks! So simple and cute!!!
Hello! The decrease rounds occur only on certain rounds for the crown part of the hats (not every one of them). 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 are single crochets around. Round 6 is that decrease (sc2tog, 1 sc, 1sc, 1sc, sc2tog, 1 sc, 1sc, 1sc, etc). 7, 8, 9, 10, 11 are just sc around. 12 is a decrease round. There is a chart at: 8:07 in the video which summarizes both hats up to rounds 23, then if you continued on with the santa hat, rounds 24-41 are summarized at 8:38 in the video. Hope this helps :)
I like this video, the instructions were so easy to follow I got it on my first try,I have been trying to learn this stitch I have a pattern for a different type of hat but it didn't explain the way to do this stitch in full detail, thanks my daughter is having a baby girl in April getting ready to make many hats different colors thank you so much!
Hiya! Instead of 56 rows, you can increase the striped band to say, 60 rows, or 64 rows or even 80 rows. The only thing is when you go to do the solid-red part at 4:27 you will need to ensure you are making the same # of single crochet stitches as the # of rows in the band. So if you did 64 rows of the band part, do 64 single crochet stitches around to start off the solid part. The rest of the pattern is the same with the decrease rounds and such (just your count will be different than mine)
For an adult, increase your striped rows to fit the person's head (perhaps 60 or 64). Then round 1 of the brim (the solid red part) needs to equal the same # as your striped rows (e.g. 60 or 64). The 23 rounds listed at the 8:02 mark in the video should still work with an adult. However if want to add to the hat height, instead of doing the decreases on rounds 6, 12, 18, you can add more single crochet rounds and do the decreases instead on rounds 7, 14, 21.
Hi Donna! I love this video! Usually I hate watching any kind of how-to crochet video, but yours was clear and concise and you can see what you're doing with the needle and yarn very well. Your website is my new favorite- you have made beautiful things!
Hehe - I've been taking care of that little guy in the video! This is my 2nd video posted in the past month - will be posting lots more in the upcoming months :)
I have to admit, you are very thorough in your detailed video. One of the best I have seen! Thank you! I will be making this hat for my adult son who will be wearing this winter.
All I can say is thank you so much, your tutorials are the best I've ever seen, directions so clear, camerawork so good. It has been a long time since I crocheted anything, and starting back your videos have helped me gain confidence in what I am doing. Please do more.
Thanks for the video. By far the cutest and easiest elf/Santa hat video I’ve seen on TH-cam! I was able to make adult size hats by making the band large enough to fit my head and then followed the pattern as stated. Thanks again!
You can still follow the pattern for the rest of the santa hat listed at 8:33 but your round #s might be different if you added rounds to increase the height. Just ignore the round #s and do a round of decrease, followed by 3 rounds of regular single crochet, etc.
Hola! !😊soy de República Dominicana, no se tu idioma, pero entiendo lo que haces, eres maravillosa, Dios bendiga tu talento, con mucho cariño y felicidades!!👌
