I made one of these for my 5 year old Granddaughter and she was so happy, daddy has a hard time getting her to take it off!......Thanks Yolanda for all you do!
Hello there! I'm a beginner as well, and I found that pausing and replaying certain parts really helps me! I also like to look up different videos that show me exactly how to do each stitch/crochet. I recommend that you start by doing "test strips" where you practice all the different techniques/stitches/crochets before starting a full project! :) Good Luck and have fun!
Yolanda, I Want you to know that this was my very first crochet project and your tutorial was very clear and I didn't have any problem making this beanie for my 3 year old son. He totally loved it, so I wanna thank you for giving begginers like me, the opportunity to make beautifull projects for our loved ones!!!!
Hi Yolanda, Thanks for this simple and easy to follow video. I finished my hat a couple of days ago and my students (and family members) can't believe that I made it myself. When I made this hat I thought making the hat would be the hardest part of my costume...now it seems like finding a yellow t-shirt might be even harder!
That was a fun project! I was able to do it from yarn in my stash in one afternoon. I did cheat a little on the half-smile though, and used a sewn-in chain of single crochet. Thanks for taking the time to show us how to put real smiles on big and little kids faces everywhere. Hand clapping, hand clapping!
Made one for my 3 year old great niece and she loves it and shares it with her new born little brother.. Now I'm supposed to make one for one of my cousins. So easy to make. Thanks for sharing the pattern.
Mine was doing the same thing with the K hook. I tore my work out and did row 4 like this: work round 4 as follows: Ch 3, dc into next 3 st, *2dc, dc in next 4 st*, repeat from * to *, work 1dc in last 3 st, sl st into 3rd ch. (like her pattern for J hook said) My hat turned out great. The only other thing I changed for a K hook was I did 2 rows of the dc black. Made the band a little wider - personal preference. I love this pattern. Thanks again Yolanda!
I like the way you teach your patterns you make it easier to understand and be able to finish the hats for my grand children thank you for your taking your time to teach us all through the web
Yolanda, Thank you so much for your fantastic video tutorials. I started crocheting the Minion,Mini mouse and Sully monster hats for my grandchildren they loved them. They are simply adorable. I never would have imagined I could have made them. You make it very easy to follow.
I have to tell you how much I loved your instructions. I made a minion hat for a 6 month old but it was to big with the instructions I had. All I did was follow a picture but wanted instructions. I'd also like to add ear flaps. I love your work, your not boring and I watch every move you make. Thank you for sharing this...
PS This is baby again stay blessed and thank you for everything that you have put on the TH-cam but I have grown so much God bless you and your family always
I cant wait ti make this for my friend's son. She doesnt have money for gifts and all his friends have these.....sooooo excited. Your tutorials are amazing!
I know when I was making mine for the first time, I kept having the same problem, so I went back and made sure I had the correct number of double crochets in each stitch...if you are off just one (especially for the increasing rounds) it will bunch up on you!
I just started crocheting and your videos are fabulous! You explain everything flawlessly and make it really easy to follow along and recreate your patterns! Thank you so much for sharing your videos, I have "favorited" almost all of them to try everything at least once. You're awesome!!!!!!
Buenas Yolanda. Soy bendecida por ser bilingue. He disfrutado estos BEANIES, como no te imagines. Gracias por tu instruccion. Haces cada patron tan facil. Lo explicas tan preciso hasta el ultimo Yarn Over. You are gr8. Thank you Yolanda keep it up. Quisiera poder mostrarte el BEANIE que hice. Quedo hermoso. Y fue facil gracias ati.
My sincere appreciation for your tutorials--they are wonderful. I haven't crocheted since I was a little girl, but your videos helped me make a"Bumble the Abominable Snow Monster" hat in two evenings. (I have a picture, but couldn't figure out how to insert it in this comment.) I'm chairing the Holiday Gift Fair in December (a fundraiser for my daughters' school), and I have a lot of work to do. With seven table themes (including The Grinch, Minions, Frozen, Santa and his Reindeer, etc.), I will be back! Lots of great ideas either using your videos verbatim, or picking and choosing pieces here and there.Thank you for all the work you're doing!
Will deffinetly make one for my grandson he keeps reminding me. I stopped crocheting a year ago, after crocheting for many years. I'll have to pick it up agian...The things we do for our "grandkids" My grandson wants this so bad he can taste it!! Lol Ty for sharing this video Yolanda. ;-)
Dear Yolanda, I am from Texas and I just starting to crochet and knitting and I found your Chanel I love the way you explained everything I have made some of your projects and they are so easy to follow thank you so much. Marine mom

Hi Yolanda, just wanted to thank you for all you do for us, I am learning how to crochet and you make it so much easier to learn I love all your projects thank you so much for you time.
My name is Ariana (a 9 year old) I barely started getting into crocheting so I don't have that many balls of yarn or hooks and stuff and when you make something I like I try to beg my parents to take me to the store and I'm still new but you were my solution! I watch your videos all the time! I subscribed to your channel right when I saw your Minnie and Mickey Mouse beanie. I think I like the minion hat a little bit better. But they are both very very lovely! Thank you so much for showing other people how to create so many amazing things. (I got so shocked out when I saw all the things you could make!)
I made the one eye minion for my nephew.... It came out so cute. The eyes came out huge so had to do the one eye but I wanted to thank you for your videos. Your awesome!!!
I've already made one and it turned out excellent! Love your work. You have taught me soooo much. I do have one question. The adult hat. Used K hook and on round 4 you say to do an extra row of DC... It doesn't come out right... I'm confused. It looks flappy and so I just tried 2dc, then 1DC in the next 2. Will that be ok? So far so good. I just hope it's big enough.
so cute! My daughter loves despicable me. I'm a beginner crocheter so I'm going to try to make this. I made the owl hat you posted and it came out great. Thanks!
Hey Yolanda I love your videos on the different character crochet beanie. I want to make my kids both a despicable me minion beanie my daughter is 5 months and my son is 4yr old. What size hook do I use to make my daughters beanie because the beanie on the video is for an older child's head?...
hi Yolanda I just wanted to say that your work and tutorials are amazing girl. you are one of the best at explaining exactly what you are doing. I'm able to follow your patterns with ease.I have already made some hats scarfs and Xmas Stocking's and now I'm really looking forward to crocheting a minion hat.I can't wait to try more of your work. fantastic Yolanda .you should feel very proud of your work .tyvm
Ty so much as a beginner learning from my mom n finding your page here....has made it so much easier to learn u explain in great detail n go slow. Hope u continue to post new things....thank u once again
For the men's size do u just do one row with a k hook and switch back to an I or do you do the rest of the hat with a k hook? I've done it both ways and the hat is just way to big.
Thank you Yolanda for your great talents and skills thank you for sharing your crochet knowledge I have been waiting to subscribe to a channel as wonderful as yours. You're a great teacher I only know not to do single and double crochet but I know by watching you but I will be able to make all of your wonderful little hats I saw other crochet items that you do the little skirts for babies and I will make them also. I will be starting With the minion
Hi Yolanda i have a huge question..before im about to slip stich to the top three i notice thres always a space a big space should a add an extra sctich or do i go in to the stich where the chain 3 come out im always confused about this and i think thats why my beannie gives it a different shape
I love watching you, you have great ideas and you are easy to follow. I thank you. Thank you for this video for this minion hat .. the kids in my family appreciate their new hats. My daughter would like a purple one. Do you have any ideas for the hair. Everyone that I found on You tube I don't like. Just wondering if you had any ideas.
I only have a sz G hook and no money for more hooks at this time. How would I adjust the pattern please? Do more initial stitches or more rounds? Or both? How will I know how many for initial stitches if that's it?
Yolanda! You are an amazing and detailed woman! I love how you are making all those crochet things that almost no one can make them interesting as you make them! Keep up the good and hard work! :)
Thank you so much for posting this! I may do two rows of black instead of just one to line it up with the center of the goggles, but THANK YOU so much for posting this. Keep up the amazing work!
Ms Yolanda I have a question I'm making beanie for a 7yrs old girl, what size of hook should I used. Thank you & keep making videos they are awesome. Bendiciones.
question: when you try to hide yarn after you cut, hiding the tail how do you keep the tail from pulling out when hat is stretched? I hope you understand my question. Thanks!
Hi yolanda . I've made 2 caps following this tutorial but now I have to make one for my niece whose 1. Plz help I tried same pattern with size h hook but it the cap looks too small as for a newborn ... Plz tell me what hook size should I use and do I have to change the pattern ?

I need help please. I'm doing the men's version and I did round 4 as you indicated with the correct hook but when I continue on with row's 5 and 6 in your video my hat isn't cupping the way it should be when it's formulated into a hat. Did I miss something? Thank you in advance for your help.
Yolanda, I have crocheted for many years and think your videos are awesome. They are so easy to follow even a beginner should have no problem. Could you please tell me where you got the sleeve you use on your crochet hook? I have arthritis and think this would be very helpful. Thank you for doing what you do!
Yolanda I love your tutorials. This hat is so cute! I was wondering if you had a tutorial for the minion hat after I followed you one-eyed monster tutorial. Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!!!
hi hun i wanted to ask how many stitches should be in row 4 5 6 and then the other question is row 4 is the last increase correct so after 4 all the stitches showld be the same. stopped on hat cause i have different number stitches in my rows so somewhere i put in extra stiches ty
I'm on row 6 (using k hook for a man) and my beanie is looking like a floppy hat so far instead of a flat round circle like yours. What am I doing wrong...or should I keep going and it will all fall into place at the end?
I made one of these for my 5 year old Granddaughter and she was so happy, daddy has a hard time getting her to take it off!......Thanks Yolanda for all you do!
The minions look great! The side smile is exactly what animators do now to make their characters look more relaxed.
