Curiously, after Grievous' death, he would become a god in the religious pantheon of his people, even having his own dedicated temple. Meanwhile, his metallic skull became a fine addition in Admiral Thrawn's art collection
A lot of people mistake Grievous retreating and escaping constantly as cowardice. I don't know about you, but recognizing a situation where you're outmatched and getting out of there is a great skill to have in a general.
This is a good point. The reason Grievous is so effective is because he knows when to cut his losses. He then shows up, often learning from said losses, to wreck house all over again. Often his loss is nowhere near the losses he inflicts upon his enemies after the fact. Meaning every victory against him is effectively a pyrrhic victory. Had he not been chained by the machinations of the Sith he could probably have won the Clone Wars.
Better to retreat in certain defeat and return to inflict great disaster upon your enemy, than to die gloriously in a false bravado death. He sacrificed druids, things easily replaced. But slaughter clones and jedi, which would be irreplaceable. Calculated losses and risks is a leadership ability.
If Obi-Wan and Anakin weren’t protected by plot armor, the only way they would survive is to do what Grievous does. Hell they actually do so sometimes in the show, specifically during the Battle of Felucia in TCW series.

He’s incredibly pathetic in one sense, but at the same time utterly terrifying. Sure if you’re Obi Wan, you can probably take him. But for an average Jedi or clone trooper, the dude is basically a horror villain.
Average Jedi or Clone would know they’re dead. The General is only stopped when you bring an army (ARC Troopers were something else). Obi-Wan was considered to be the absolute best choice to fight Grevious by the Jedi Council. Yoda and Windu thought they wouldn’t stand a chance
2003 Clone Wars Grievous is easily still one of the most Badass Star Wars Antagonists to this day. I rewatch 2003 Clone Wars all the time for his scenes. @@TheHornedKing If only they'd kept that same dark style in the later animated clone wars series. The Legends continuity and 2003 Grievous were the triggers that got me from liking star wars to obsessing over it a little when i was a kid. Peak Grievous, never toppled since.
There's a comic book where Grievous finds an abandoned Jedi Temple, filled with different traps similar to the ones he made in his own lair, he finds a waterfall which gives him a brief moment of experiencing the force. As punishment, it gives him a vision of who he used to be in his Kaleesh body, and that no matter what he suffered through, no matter how justified he might believe his actions are, in the end it doesn't change him. Because hatred makes people smaller, like him, and shows how much of his body and identity he has lost. Afterwards, Grievous escapes and bombs the temple, and watches for hours as it burns. "For all your talk of power...You BURN just as easily!" Happy Star Wars Month! I'd love to see you cover Kylo Ren or Darth Plagueis Next!
That final line is brilliant because while it's a damn good burn (ha) from Grievous, as we eventually see it applies to HIM just as well. Such a nice touch of poetic irony and karma.
I love how you pointed out that Grievous was the perfect pawn of terror. It brings to mind that the easiest way to unite a people is give them a “security risk” to their luxury.
*Fun Fact:* Grievous, in the Japanese dub, is voiced by Old Joseph Joestar's seiyuu. That certainly explains why he loves running away from battles so much. 😂😂😂
Some real Vlad III vibes with Grievous' story. A brutal product of a brutal time and place, responsible for things that would get you ended for war crimes, yet is also considered a hero depending on who you ask.
His design is absolutely amazing. The way his body very much resembles a skeleton, his piercing yellow eye surrounded by the remaining red skin on his face, the metal talons which are his hands and feet, his cape which helps give him a more refined and commanding presence.
I love how his cybernetic body and his Magnaguards have Kaleesh designs, as he is a Kaleesh warrior first and foremost, and a Jedi-hunting Separatist leader second.
Something to note about Grievous and Dooku is that Dooku *despised* Grievous. To Dooku, lightsaber combat was a beautiful form of art, precise and surgical which is the stark opposite of how Grievous fights. And that's without mentioning his signature move of spinning the lightsabers around like helicopter blades.
In Terms of Things in the Force dooku hated him but He absolutely Liked grievous AS a Military Commander which He was best at , He reorganized the Cis forces to effecient use and won several victories and more importantly He carried Out His Orders and Tasks without much Backtalk , a very welcoming Exchange from scheming DARK Jedi and nagging politicians
@@laisphinto6372 Begrudging respect does not make Dooku disdain Grievous any less however. The two were just polar opposites. Dooku is all about finesse and subtly. To him, Grievous was nothing more than a monstrous animal.
@@lisboah Elegance hardly has anything to do with good morals. But yes, Dooku was a human supremacist and yes, he had his sister assassinated by Ventress because she was gonna sell him out to the Republic.

Grievous in legends is one of the most fleshed out, terrifying characters in all of Star Wars. Grievous in canon is a two dimensional villain who runs away more than he fights.
In canon, his characterization essentially was just Episode 3 and the CGI show for a while, until some little things about him was made, though from what I've seen, it's not as deep as his past life before he got blown up.
Everyone ignores TCW in the EU because Filoni Shit all over the Clone wars Multimedia Project nearly every decision this Guy Made bulldozered all over the established Lore and IT isnt because EU Lore IS too complex since He Shit all over Disney Canon too Just because IT wasnt Made by him
There are Jedi killers in the setting Dredge, The Fetts, Cad Bane etc all use tech that’s notably useful against Jedi, can’t reflect a flamethrower or slug thrower with a lightsaber… General Grevious was the only one to do it by beating them in their preferred method of combat. Developed a technique that dismantled their defenses dude was a warrior through and through.
Yeah, because the former guys are more or less normal human(oid)s with no powers other than their own skill and equipment. They need to choose their weapons correctly to stand a chance against superhuman opponents like jedi On the other hand Grievous is a cyborg with almost indestructible mechanical frame, superhuman strength, speed and agility etc. He can just beat almost anyone with brute force
I don't know what this says about me that the two TH-camrs guaranteed to make me squeal with glee when I see them in my feed are so distinct. The Vile Eye, where the most heinous villains in fiction are given an objective, incredibly knowledgeable, in-depth look and narrated by a young Anton La Vey with a sinisterly hypnotic deep voice... or Ryan George, with a pleasant, ever-smiling Canadian face whose comedic skits and hilarious movie synopses are "super wholesome, barely an inconvenience." It's weird how two channels with such different vibes can make me happy and entertained!
An episode on Grand Admiral Thrawn is an absolute must! His use of methodical study on the specific grievances of each disenfranchised peoples aiding in the New Republics rise to power & then the use of that knowledge to exploit unique weaknesses is next level. I feel this makes him the perfect villain to combat the New Republic, a government that would’ve largely been comprised of mid-rim & outer-rim worlds who were disenfranchised by the Republic & then later in some cases, literally enslaved by the Empire. Many CIS systems pledged support to the rebellion for this very reason.
Thrawn is high on the poll for the July patron pick. Though it's looking like Senator Armstrong is beating him out by a slight margin, Thrawn is undoubtedly going to be on the August poll. Thrawn is heavily requested on Patreon and though he has been beaten out by another villain once (and it's looking like will be twice for now), it's clear that Thrawn still consistently scores high on the Patreon polls regardless. Sooner or later, Vile will cover him.
Legends is the true canon not Disney's As a die hard star wars fan I appreciate you covering Legends continuity of the villainous characters of this series
@CompositeCreativity beyond correct on that every major sith that they couldn't de-canonise because of the six movies already were well established and rewriting things of them wouldn't work because they'll be loads of contradicting or plot holes. Villains they bring back and did such like thrawn is seen as a down grade. I liked the ahsoka series and loved the rebel series but thrawn should not have been in either as his trilogy of books after return of the jedi were the superior story and end of his character and role as a Villain.
26:19 This is why i love you so much man, you go into detail on what villians can do to have avoided their fall but also arent deluded in how they were limited to do so. The reason Grevious is so popular outside of his design is because he has legitimate grievances with the republic his story is emblematic of its failures and corruption. Simply telling a person/group of people who have suffered injustice at the hands of an institution to vote and petition when they are are being eradicated is insane let alone to punish them for fighting back. Would have been a more peaceable solution to display the Hucks crimes for all the republic to see in hopes of them taking action certainly but that leaves them at the mercy of a corrupt and ineffectual republic who have no vested interest in protecting the Kaleesh. Man I love the politics in star wars.

thank you so much, General Grievous is one of my favourite Characters in star wars, use to be kind of a fanboy for the murderous Cyborg, from his design, unique combat, character, his cough and his reputation. The fact he was able to contend with hundred of Jedi with his raw Cybernetic prowess, he someone that made the droids armies quit deadly, willing to do what it takes to achieve victory, and yet he try to hold onto his ancient culture, from his collecting of trophies, the mask he wears, the strive to improve his armour, and of course a warrior death, he very much the line "LET THE GALAXY BURN" due to his hatred and misery. one of my favourite story's that was in legends, was when grievous covet red lightsabres for his arsenal, he then caught wind of two young Jedi that turn to the sith and soon betray there masters, grievous hunted the two, and he found them, the fight between two skilled sith was hard and long, but grievous own raw hate overwhelm them, but when he came to claim his prize, he soon realise the two lightsabres of pure wonderful crimson, sunk into the acid bogs, his metal arms could not grab the crystals as they would melt, if he where Jedi he could use the force to bring them out, but he was not, and thus he was force to leave his prize deep in the bog, there crystals would remain there for hundreds of century's. the general hatred for fate boiled further. also another note, when grievous died, a stature was built by his people in honour for such a brutal warlord, and was worship as a god of war, his story of grief, vengeance and violence inspired many warriors of his planet, rumour is that he was reunited with the one he lost so long ago.
Grievous should get a "Most Mishandled Badass Villain in Fiction" award. His backstory in the Expanded Universe and 2003 clone wars appearances are so cool and yet George wanted to trade a nuanced and tragic character for a clown.
It's important to note that to the Kaleesh not getting a proper burial means no afterlife regardless of achievements. So to loose Ronderu lij Kummar's body at sea was a massive blow to Qymaen jai Sheelal because it meant they would be separated for an eternity. Being put in a synthetic insectoid like body was also a huge insult. Especially when layered with the fact he was now made to be an enslaved world conquer with mindless drones replacing his skilled elite. He was made into everything he hated.
His ranks of challengers have waxed and waned over the years, but Grievous has always been my favorite SW character, and this video is vindication. Masterfully done - you did true justice to the General!
What makes him dangerous is that he’s extremely skilled, but at the same time he absolutely doesn’t hold back on using cheap tricks to overpower his opponents. He‘s often misjudged as a coward and a mindless killing machine, but the title of general didn’t come from nothing. He thinks ahead, he’s intelligent and he has a very tactical mind in both direct duels, but also tactics in both ground assaults and space battles. I‘d love to see more of him in the future, maybe even a spin-off series dedicated to his backstory.
I love Grievous. I was totally intrigued when I first seen him, and it was actually in the first season of The Clone Wars. I was sepculating who is actually hiding behind that mask. I loved then exploring him in the Legends material as well as seeing his best action in the 2003 microseries.
Another great episode! I especially loved Grievous in the Clone Wars shorts where he was portrayed like a force of nature, a nightmare the Jedi had a reason to fear the moment they heard his voice, and a fighting style that made full use of Tartakovsky's awesome battle scene choreography. Future potential villains to analyze I can think of are: John Ryder (Hitcher) The Ultimate Despair (Danganronpa) The High Evolutionary (Guardians of the Galaxy 3)
The Revenge of the Sith novelization even states that Grievous was meant to die. Palpatine was good with whatever the outcome was on Utapau as in his mind as it was meant to be a trap for Obi-Wan. Either Grievous would get him or order 66 would, as he put it, Grievous dying was an issue that would've inevitably had to be dealt with. Of course, he didn't forsee Obi-Wan surviving everything and maiming/killing all his pawns and fostering the seeds of Palpatine ultimate demise

General Grievous is probably my favourite Star Wars characters. I love his design (one of my favourite robot/cyborg designs in sci-fi). His story in Legends is really tragic one. He is also really cool & scary, someone who became known as Jedi killer despite not having Force abilities.
If you're down to cover more tragic Star Wars villains, I'd love to see you cover the unmitigated tragedy that is Jango Fett and his story. Dude was done so wrong by the republic and the Jedi. He was unironically a good guy up until and even a little after the Jedi killed off the True Mandalorians. Honestly if it weren't for the fact they did that Jango likely would have never become the less-than-upstanding person we see in Attack of The Clones.
I think you’re underselling the Kaleesh. Even after losing grievous, they proved so hardcore the Empire had to give them self rule because the planet was a black hole for military assets. THRAWN had no idea what to do about them
Grievous was raised and lived in a warlike culture on the outskirts of known galaxy, where there were no real laws and institutions. In these places only might makes right, so it's not surprised that people hailing from these places like Grievous or Anakin (Tatooine is also Outer Rim/Hutt Space) were likely to resort into taking situation into their own hands, instead of relying on courts, laws or restraint in their actions. It's not really surprising that Grievous lashed out against cruel universe in the only way he knew, through violence and losing himself to it. I am also not sure if we can apply human morality to an alien like Grievous. Overall a very interesting character with some tragic undertones, if presented properly.
I appreciate you including "Legends" details. They truly have a lot to add to the characters to the point that Disney just ends up adopting more and more expanded universe stuff to their own canon as they go on. Also I gotta say it, man; you really are the perfect dude to be "analyzing evil". You look like you'd be right at home wearing a druidic robe, face obscured by a large hood, ready to take people to meet someone or, something, that's openly only ever referred to as "The Dark Lord". You look like you've existed across generations in service to said Dark Lord and if people look at ancient drawings, paintings, or engravings of past events they might see you depicted in such. You really got the perfect look for your content and it's sick as hell.
Yes! My favorite SW character. His initial introduction in the 2003 cartoon, is what first got me into SW. I love that you included Legends, it makes him so much more than just a monster. It makes him into this increadibly tragic character too.

I vastly preferred Legends Grievous to what Disney turned him into. They stripped a great deal of his depth that made me love his character so much when I was a teenager. When The Dragon Prince reaches its conclusion, I'd love to see you cover the Startouch Elf, Aaravos.
I like how each of the prequel trilogy villains are foreshadowing of Anakin’s transformation into Darth Vader. -Darth Maul: An overconfident Sith warrior who loses his legs to overestimating his power against Obi-Wan Kenobi. -Count Dooku: A disillusioned former Jedi that turned to the Dark Side after losing someone he cared about. -General Grievous: “He’s more machine now than man. Twisted and evil.”
You have, if I can go by what you are saying, no formal mental health training or background. But for all that, you are damn thorough and I think you do one hell of a job of examining their ethical and moral backgrounds of the lore of each character.
Here are some suggestion. -Emperor of Mankind (?) from Warhammer 40K, this would be more of a debate if he is even evil or not but I like to hear what you would say about him -Akira Nishikiyama from Yakuza -Gwyn Lord of Cinder from Dark Souls -Cyrus from Pokemon
Entirely accurate summary there. If Grievous had just gone on the path of wiping out Jedi and damaging the Republic's leadership, he'd be entirely justified by what they did to his own people. His only two failings were in being too rage-filled and committing similar genocides against other worlds.
In the legends continuity, Dooku gave Grievous Sifo-Dyas’s lightsaber, but it has been canonically changed so that it was another one of Dooku’s old friends whose lightsaber was given to Grievous, since Sifo-Dyas’s lightsaber was actually left at his crashed ship on a desert world where it was later found by Plo-Koon during the clone wars.
Can’t wait to see more Star Wars villains get analyzed. There are so many, like Grand Admiral Thrawn, Grand Moff Tarkin, Jabba the Hutt, Darth Revan, Darth Malak, the Sith Triumvirate, and Ventress. Just don’t cover Snoke or Kylo Ren, they aren’t worth it.
The man Grievous was before his transformation into a cyborg was a righteous war hero waging battles against the expansionist slavers that were the Yam'rii as far as I see it, and his backstory hinging on the failings of the Republic and the moral fall of the Jedi into dogma and politics makes his change into the aforementioned cyborg all the more ironic. Every single Jedi he slew, the Jedi Order can blame themselves and the Republic for their deaths, they created Grievous by driving Sheelal to the brink. One of Star Wars' greatest and most tragic characters, but at least Grievous had the honor of a warrior's death by Obi-Wan and went down in Kaleesh history as a god. All that said, i really think a TV show exploring Grievous's backstory would be amazing. Or at least there's potential there
Fun Fact: Matt Wood based Grievous`s raspy, guttural Russian/Transylvanian accent on his grandmother who emigrated from the former Soviet Union around the time of release of the Original Trilogy`s Special Editions, he was also the sound effects mixer for all three Prequels so Grievous did his own sound effects(Aside from the cough, that was George Lucas himself on a sick day ILM recorded).
I would love to see you do darth caedus. He’s not canon but he’s definitely a well flushed out character with a good amount of backstory to make a compelling character.
I might me one of the few people who think General Grievous [and Durge] were depicted as far too powerful in the 2D Clone Wars series. In the 3D Clone Wars series Grievous while toned down was still a threat to many characters. There are two stories I think are very good when discussing the inner workings of his mind. His interaction with a Jedi temple where he communed with the cosmic force and out of the confusion he resorted to violence and rejected the notion of change as he was too far gone at that point. The second story is when he fought a certain Jedi he was so impressed with her that when she was defeated he placed her body in the corner in order to give her a dignified death. His psyche was torn asunder by the conflicting life he had after the changes and his life prior to it.
You should one about Tohru Adachi from Persona 4. He's the best antagonist from the franchise, and one of the best portrayals of a psychopath, born from isolation, that I've seen on a videogame.

Pre TCW Grievous was good and well done, Labyrinth of Evil arguably being his peak. God do I wish that the show didn’t gut him.
He basically became the Star Wars equivalent of Cobra Commander.
Tales of the Empire Grievous: *evil cackle*
@@rhymenoceros3303 you mean when he decides to not kill his opponent several times when he would easily be able to and instead throws her, making him look even more incompetent? Yeah he wins but they still make him a moron.
Labyrinth of Evil and Other pre TCW stuff IS grievous at its best mainly they Pick ON one Thing often ignored ,His role AS te CIS supreme commander. Sure His lightsaber swinging in Clone wars 2003 was cool but His Skill AS a Military Commander was way more Dangerous for the Republic. I Just Wish WE could have the Talent of the EU writers combined with great Animation and make a Show about the actual war in the Clone wars Not following around some OCs that Teleport constantly throughout the Galaxy No instead a proper war series where the darkness and brutality IS shown Like in the DARK horse Comics and WE can depict Operation durges Lance the closest time the CIdMS was in winning only topped by coruscant
He’s incredibly pathetic in one sense, but at the same time utterly terrifying. Sure if you’re Obi Wan, you can probably take him. But for an average Jedi or clone trooper, the dude is basically a horror villain.
His new scene in Tales Of The Empire is really chilling and he’s a terrifying specter on the battlefield
@@ThreshmanEntertainment Agreed. The laughter was terrifying and it reminded me of 2003 clone wars grievous

The crazy part is that right after this was order 66. Doom was indeed upon the Jedi
My thoughts on Mr Grievous:
I think he needs a hug, but he'd probably kill whoever tried.
Maybe Jabba the Hugg will succeed.
Maybe a rancore could
2003 Clone Wars Grievous is easily still one of the most Badass Star Wars Antagonists to this day. I rewatch 2003 Clone Wars all the time for his scenes. Genndy made him OP AF in that show until Lucas's Team said "He has a cough in the movie" and last minute they added Mace crushing his chest haha. Still such a Beast
I dont buy that Grievous was too OP thats a Thing many TCW apologists say to justify how terrible He was in TCW ,but EVERYONE was OP. I know you are ripped Jay but you aint Gonna Beat 2003 windu beatings Up an entire Droid Army with only His fists
@@laisphinto6372 Lmao Im not saying Top Jedi couldnt take him down what Im saying is literally on the DVD commentary they mentioned how they made Grievous so strong that by the time Revenge of the Sith was coming out they got a call from Lucasfilm that he had a bad cough and since theres didnt have a cough they straight up said "Oh we need to weaken him fast" hence Mace crushed his chest when he did. Its hilarious, Im not saying Grievous could fight Yoda or any top ones etc but what I am saying is they did in fact Nerf him so he couldnt move like he did in the 2003 show. Everyone Liked That.
Half of me wishes Legends got animated adaptations. The other half doesn't trust Disney with it
The new canon borrows very liberally from Legends, so the Grievous backstory as explained here is likely valid enough.

I don't. Legends post-ROTJ is a mess with the childish Yuuzhan vong and stupid Skywalker family power creep.
prequel and old republic-era legends is great, but the rest sucks apart from like the Thrawn trilogy.
Grievous’ debut at the Battle of Hypori is still the greatest villain introduction I have ever seen.
It turns from a bunch of blaster fights to a downright horror movie. 10 year old me jumped when he showed up and started wrecking house.
It's literally what got me into Star Wars.
@@TheHornedKing If only they'd kept that same dark style in the later animated clone wars series. The Legends continuity and 2003 Grievous were the triggers that got me from liking star wars to obsessing over it a little when i was a kid. Peak Grievous, never toppled since.
@@averagejoeschmoe9186 Yup. They did him dirty.
@@TheHornedKingshout out to the black cauldron. I love that movie!
"For all your talk of power...You BURN just as easily!"
Happy Star Wars Month! I'd love to see you cover Kylo Ren or Darth Plagueis Next!
At the end of the issue, the force spirt thing is still active even after Grievous orders the orbital bombardment.
The imagery in that comic was so haunting and weird. A nice companion piece to the Clone Wars Episode Lair of Grievous.
That final line is brilliant because while it's a damn good burn (ha) from Grievous, as we eventually see it applies to HIM just as well. Such a nice touch of poetic irony and karma.
@@_MaZTeR_Honestly wish they didn't add that.
I read the comic when I finally watched clone wars and did a whole clone wars era binge. Great stuff for my favorite Star wars villain.

EXCELLENT WORK. THE VILE EYE 👁🗨 STAR 🌟 WARS ON GENERAL GRIEVOUS
I'd love Vile's take on Dio or Kira
Hello there
General Kenobi..
General
General Eye, you are a bold one
Such a welcoming opening to the most dastardly introduction to the worst fiction has to offer in villainy
General Kenobi
Some real Vlad III vibes with Grievous' story. A brutal product of a brutal time and place, responsible for things that would get you ended for war crimes, yet is also considered a hero depending on who you ask.
I was never into Star Wars as a kid but I always loved this guy's design
His design is absolutely amazing.
The way his body very much resembles a skeleton, his piercing yellow eye surrounded by the remaining red skin on his face, the metal talons which are his hands and feet, his cape which helps give him a more refined and commanding presence.
Did you guys know that Grievous' design was based on a spray bottle.

Grievous in legends is one of the most fleshed out, terrifying characters in all of Star Wars. Grievous in canon is a two dimensional villain who runs away more than he fights.
Clone wars is still canon to legends lol
@@williamfigueroa4898 Yeah and he still sucks in Clone Wars regardless. The original cartoon was a much better portayal

Grievous was once a tragic man, But he died a vicious monster.
I'm worried that is my fate.
They need to choose their weapons correctly to stand a chance against superhuman opponents like jedi
On the other hand Grievous is a cyborg with almost indestructible mechanical frame, superhuman strength, speed and agility etc.

It's weird how two channels with such different vibes can make me happy and entertained!
Legends is the true canon not Disney's
As a die hard star wars fan I appreciate you covering Legends continuity of the villainous characters of this series
The EU does what Disney struggles with, which is making interesting villains.
Darth Plagueis would be a very fascinating character study. The novel is excellent as well.
But why? You never heard the Tragedy of Darth Plagueis the Wise?
@sthelena1815 I don't think it's a story the jedi would tell him
@@Lalvon_Zelpharr Certainly not. It's a sith legend.
YES!!
Darth Plagueis, Cloak of Deception, Labyrinth of Evil - great novels. And with Input from Lucas, too.
An Analyzing Evil on Hego Damask also known as Darth Plagueis would be so interesting. Such a complex and interesting character with tons of information. The book Darth Plaguies by James Luceno is an absolute gem of legends continuity.

I truly believe that was the true Grievous, as well as ROTS Grievous. He didn’t retreat out of cowardice, but knew a losing situation when he saw one. Even when he retreated from his flagship, he attempted to force Kenobi and Skywalker into space
@@Andrew-1828 Dave Finloni really missed a opportunity by saving all the younglings in the arc with Ahsoka and the Pirate, if Ahsoka wasn't there with her Plot armor god knows what he would have done with the childs

thank you so much, General Grievous is one of my favourite Characters in star wars, use to be kind of a fanboy for the murderous Cyborg, from his design, unique combat, character, his cough and his reputation.
This is unironically my favorite channel.
It’s reached top 5 to me very magnificently
A fine addition to my collection..
He is literally just a coward lol, that's what George wanted him to be
Congratulations! You analyzed all three prequel villains that foreshadowed Anakin’s transformation to Vader.
In the words of sheev palpatine...
A surprise to be sure, but a welcome one.
I love Grievous. I was totally intrigued when I first seen him, and it was actually in the first season of The Clone Wars. I was sepculating who is actually hiding behind that mask. I loved then exploring him in the Legends material as well as seeing his best action in the 2003 microseries.
Yes please do more Star Wars characters, literally one of my favorite pieces of media
A tragic villian in every sense. Qyman Jai Sheelal: General Grievous!
Bro, this is my FAVORITE Star Wars character!! You made my day Mr. Analyzing Evil, thank you!!!!
Another great episode! I especially loved Grievous in the Clone Wars shorts where he was portrayed like a force of nature, a nightmare the Jedi had a reason to fear the moment they heard his voice, and a fighting style that made full use of Tartakovsky's awesome battle scene choreography. Future potential villains to analyze I can think of are:
John Ryder (Hitcher)
The Ultimate Despair (Danganronpa)
The High Evolutionary (Guardians of the Galaxy 3)
Between the Saiyans, Viltrumites, and now the Kaleesh, there seems to be a lotta space Spartans in fiction
Alien warrior races are badass
i’d like to see grand admiral thrawn next, he’d be interesting i’d think

THRAWN had no idea what to do about them
1000% correct on your choice to include legends
You really got the perfect look for your content and it's sick as hell.

One of the best Star Wars villains ever
I like how each of the prequel trilogy villains are foreshadowing of Anakin’s transformation into Darth Vader.
-Darth Maul: An overconfident Sith warrior who loses his legs to overestimating his power against Obi-Wan Kenobi.
-Count Dooku: A disillusioned former Jedi that turned to the Dark Side after losing someone he cared about.
-General Grievous: “He’s more machine now than man. Twisted and evil.”
This is the first video of yours I’m watching where you’re sitting like this. Pretty cool. It’s like a fireside chat!
Thank you, as someone who is still new and learning the Star Wars lore I really appreciate this video and how tragic General grievous backstory is. 👍🏾
You have, if I can go by what you are saying, no formal mental health training or background.
But for all that, you are damn thorough and I think you do one hell of a job of examining their ethical and moral backgrounds of the lore of each character.
I appreciate you adding in Expanded Universe Lore to your videos. It warms the heart to see the old ways still live on in fans.
Here are some suggestion.
-Emperor of Mankind (?) from Warhammer 40K, this would be more of a debate if he is even evil or not but I like to hear what you would say about him
-Akira Nishikiyama from Yakuza
-Gwyn Lord of Cinder from Dark Souls
-Cyrus from Pokemon
Entirely accurate summary there. If Grievous had just gone on the path of wiping out Jedi and damaging the Republic's leadership, he'd be entirely justified by what they did to his own people. His only two failings were in being too rage-filled and committing similar genocides against other worlds.
Movie Grievous vs Legends Grevious is the best definition of coughing baby vs hydrogen bomb

Thank you very much for including the Legends content. It adds such a rich and nuanced narrative to these complex characters.
This will make an excellent addition to my collection.
"He is more machine now than man."
Vader wasn't the only one, or the first for that matter.
Or at least there's potential there
Thanks for the vid
Could you make a video on Jim Profit from the 1996 series “Profit”
Finally you do a Video about General Grievous! This Video will do a fine addition to my collection!
I would like to see in the next episode Tai Lung!
Awesome video!! General Grievous is my favorite Star Wars character. His 2003 clone wars debut is so incredible to this day
Few other TH-camrs have me yelling out “yeah baby” when a new vid drops, especially Star Wars 😎
I might me one of the few people who think General Grievous [and Durge] were depicted as far too powerful in the 2D Clone Wars series. In the 3D Clone Wars series Grievous while toned down was still a threat to many characters. I also liked that he used underhanded tactics to kill several Jedi, rather than simply overpowering or overwhelming them.
Excellent Villian Analysis as always.
Villain Profile Suggestions:
1. Frank Underwood/Francis Urquart (House of Cards)
2. 001 (Squid Game)
3. Petyr Baelish (A Song of Ice and Fire)
4. Frank Gallagher (Shameless US
5. Marty and Wendy Byrde (Ozark)
6. Dudley Smith (L.A Confidential)
7. The Killer (The Killer)
8. Idi Amin (Last King of Scotland)
9. Kratos (God of War series)
10. Eric Cartman (South Park)
11. Father (Full Metal Alchemist)
12. The Sons of Anarchy Gang
Holy cow! Grievous is one of my favorite Star Wars characters, also today is my last day of high school as a senior so thanks for the new episode! Could a potential episode be on Xerxes from 300?
2D Clone Wars show should still be canon. I still remember watching Grievous’ first appearance and finding him terrifying. That show was just ART. And it added so much great character development for Anakin
Agreed. 2003 Grievous lived up to his name, by leaving a generally grievous trail of destruction.
Grievous fighting someone with plot armor: A Pitful clown.
Grievous fighting someone without plot armor: A badass killing machine
Grievous fighting Night Sisters: genocidal maniac having the best time of his life
That scene in the new show was epic
@@ndhickson3599 If only that was the Grievous we had been getting the whole time
There are two stories I think are very good when discussing the inner workings of his mind.
