The fact the Jonathan’s last act of life was to embrace the creature that caused him so much agony throughout his life and admit he still cared about him was so moving even Dio had to pause. I wish later parts went into more detail how Dio really felt about that moment, even if he’s unabashedly evil.
He cried of jonathan's death, his narcissistic and purely evil side drove him to murder Jonathan out of revenge, but whatever shred of humanity he had left, shed tear for his brother.
Jonathan was always the only person Dio ever respected (at least out of the Joestars). Case in point, he's the only one he referred to as JoJo and deemed his body worthy to take as his own.
*“He has no rules. No boundaries. He doesn't flinch at torture, human trafficking, or genocide. He's not loyal to a flag or country or any set of ideals. He trades blood for money. He's your new best friend”*
He technically didn't make her, he just turned her into a zombie and she then ate the baby of her own accord. I'm pretty sure Dio himself actually comments on it.
The most interesting part of Dio's evil is how petty it can be. Throughout Stardust Crusaders it's established that he's made it clear to his followers who know what his stand can do must keep that secret at all cost, to the point that the idea of risking being forced to reveal it to the Crusaders is so terrifying it directly causes that follower to fail. And yet, when they do eventually figure out what The World can do and confront Dio, he merely shrugs since he is so supremely confident in his stand's power. He allowed his followers to believe the most furious vengeance would be visited upon them if they ever betrayed this secret, and yet when that secret is finally unmasked he doesn't appear to care.
MASTER. MANIPULATOR. Just how it looked like he was going to killed Hol Horse with Hol Horse breathing heavily and sweating buckets….only for him to simply grab Hol Horse’s cigarette.
Let's not forget that his first action using his Stand against one of the Jojos was to pause time, move Polnareff down the stairs, run back up, and unpause it and then repeating this just to fuck with him.
D'Arby panicked when Jotaro brought up Dio's stand because he realised that since objects were randomly appearing with Jotaro, he had the same power as Dio (without knowing it himself yet). This led him to conclude that Jotaro had cheated in an unprovable way and gotten an excellent hand. (He had not, but who would assume that Jotaro didn't know his own power?) But I agree it was the fear of Dio that made him panic and lose rather than at least playing the hand to see what happens. (Worst case for him, it ends how it did in the story and he dies; best case he gets lucky and Jotaro hadn't cheated and he defeats him).
@@haroldasusus4684The single most debunked myth in the entire series. That stand belongs to Jonathan's body. Araki has denied the theory and confirmed the stand's identity.
Ngl, the girl who b*tch slapped Dio and called him "monster" after he offered her immortality and eternal youth was badass af. Truly one of the most legendary JoJogirls
@@PKFireFawx That’s JoDoes (like deer), JoHoes is villains like Mariah or Miuccia Miuller. However, we could swap JoFoes and JoHoes for Part 6, making Enrico Pucci a JoHoe and Miuller a JoFoe.
Joseph: "How many times have you m*sturbated with my grandfather's body?!" DIO: "I don't know. How many Caesar salads have you eaten in your life?" Joseph: "DIOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!"
Fun fact: the Jojo ova for part 3 was the first solo directing gig for Satoshi Kon. He specifically directed the scene in the ova with Dio forcing the senator to drive for him and you can see what would become his signature animation style in that scene.
DIO's best character scene in Part 3 and it's not even canon. DIO was made significantly more terrifying in the OVA compared to the manga and later anime adaptation.
DUUUUDE I'm so glad you covered this!! Yoshikage Kira would be another great JoJo villain to cover, since he breaks the mold of so many villain tropes in media altogether.
Everyone jokes about the loafs of bread line. But when you really think about it, that line is DARK. It does a great job showing how many people he killed in the span of a few days.
@@GalekC What's the issue then? It didn't exactly come in sliced loaves back then, single use buns would be more common and someone simply calling it "Bread" would be fitting.
The Joestar bloodline: HOW MANY TIMES DO WE HAVE TO TEACH YOU THIS LESSON OLD MAN?! DIO: Hm, lemme think... How many breads have you eaten in your life?
I've been waiting for this episode. One thing that I think is important to note is the influence Araki had when listening to the music of Ronnie James Dio while writing DIO's character. As his story ties directly into the themes of the lyrics from songs like "Holy Diver", "Hungry for Heaven", "Egypt" and others. Holy Diver in particular definitely influenced Araki in coming up with the idea of DIO being submerged in water for years on end. Personally, I find DIO's heaven plan to be horrifying. It takes away all of the agency we may or may not have, and would leave you with a full picture of what your life is going to amount to, effectively leaving you a puppet to fate. While our lives may be planned from the start, it's only through our agency, real or fake, that we are able to become free thinking and compassionate humans. But why would that matter to someone like DIO? A man who is by all accounts, more monster than man. A man who takes away the free will of others at the drop of a hat, whether it be through his mind altering pheromones, charisma, zombification, or through his stand...DIO's sole purpose was always to infect THE WORLD with his malice. Thank You for covering my favorite series of all time!!!
You forgot Rainbow's song Stargazer, for which Dio was the lead vocalist. It probably was the source for the tarot card theme, and the heaven plan being thwarted by the Star (and also time stopping)
welcome to jojo's bizarre adventure. We have many exciting villians, such as; Dio, Better Dio's, DIO, Lesser DIO, pink drag DIO, DIO's boyfriend, DIO if you squint, (honorable mention literally Dio again xd) and finally a villain in no way related and/or similar to any previous variations of DIO. :)))) its been a while, i hope we get a DIO reference in part 9
He is the true protagonist of the entire JoJo series. He was the main villain in Pt.1 His actions influences the events of Pt.2 He was the main villain in Pt.3 His actions influences the events of Pt.4 His son is the main protagonist of Pt.5 His best friend is the main villain in Pt.6 His best friend reset the universe for both Pt. 7 and 8 Dio ends up fucking with the Joestars in one way or another
I'd like to point that in the context of the main literature, regardless of media (manga or anime) that the heaven plan is never framed to be good for humanity in any way. DIO's ideal of Heaven results in everyone being aware of their own fate, that fate being that humanity's one true and only king was DIO. In the absense of DIO, Heaven, under Pucci's influence isn't any better, just a different flavor of worse. There is no king to fawn over or fear, but the simple inevitable apathy that will reach all of humanity because of their awareness of their entire purpose in the universe. Jojo as a series is about exploring and celebrating the glory of humanity in all of its facets to the absurd, bizarre extremes. Both good and bad. With awareness of the future, there would be no glory to celebrate in. Everyone will simply be a sleeping slave of fate, forced to endure and play out the whims of destiny, regardless of what they feel. Under Heaven, Crime would mean nothing, Heroism would mean nothing, Death would mean nothing, Life would mean nothing. I don't think Araki is a fan of Fatalism.
Well said. I can't actually imagine how anyone could view Pucci's heaven plan as being good in any way. At best, you see that you live a long and healthy life, but all excitement and surprise is removed from it. At worst, you may learn that you will die young, and in a horribly painful way, leaving your remaining time alive full of fear and dread. Pucci's Heaven would pretty much solidify Fate, giving nobody true free will. And while Fate is a very real force in Jojo that arguably removes agency from some of the characters, it's been shown time and time again that those of strong will and good heart can change the direction of Fate, meaning free will and choice is still possible.
Heaven is an evil idea, I'm glad the theory of heaven has never been substantiated, it would rob us of everything valuable; everything we could do or have done would become meaningless and reduce the value of ourselves, our efforts and our perception of others, our lives would pale in comparison to a heaven being real. Sounds like a nightmare. Imo, Dio acted exactly like a person who didn't care about life, which made him a person to make heaven real for all of humankind. He's an evil person for making heaven(total suffering and banality) a reality for humankind. The "Idea of Heaven being real" made him even more evil than everything in his life did before. Maybe, idk.
I love that Dio isn't just a villain he's a force of nature, and an epitome of mesmerizing evil, and being one hell of a vampiric powerhouse makes him so much better to watch, here's to the man who made ZA WARUDO a phrase that has been ingrained into my very spirit.
Really loved this episode and really enjoy your segments. As you said on this episode, Yoshikage Kira needs a video for himself. 😁 Keep up this wonderful work, sir.
Also the fact speedwagon was raised in the exact place and encountered the exact circumstances and probably more yet is as kind as jonathan. So for him that is not a justifiable excuse but a way for dio to play victim, and was bound to be a scumbag since birth
I think speedwagon was stripping Dio of the excuse that it was his father or poverty that made him evil -- no, it was his own choice. And that upset Dio, because he knows someone like Johnathan would have not turned to complete malice in his situation.
I get chills every time i take this wacky, bizarre series seriously; both the stunning heroism and grotesquely horrific evils Araki writes are simply amazing fiction.
"It was me, Dio! I flooded the Patreon vote to get this video made! It shall be the harbinger so all men know who the god of this world truly is! Me! DIO!"
I mean, he didn't really do all that much in Part 7 comparatively. Got turned into a dinosaurman by a stand user. Died. Got brought in from another world just so we could have The World Diego and then achieved nothing lol. No legacy in Part 8 onwards I believe?
That scene of Dio and the woman with the baby is the most messed up scene not only in JoJo, but in all of anime and possibly in fiction for me. It's even more gruesome in the manga.
@@willdiesel8431 It did NOT get reset. Pucci claimed everything he did during the acceleration will be undone if they dont reach Cape Canaveral in the new timeline. This includes the very act of universe resetting itself + Pucci's actions during the acceleration. Since Pucci himself also died during the acceleration, he ceased to exist. So everything went back to how it initially was. Meaning Parts 1-5 happened the exact same way except Pucci does not exist. Meaning ONLY the events of Part 6 never happened. The timeline Emporio goes to after killing Pucci is the same on as before. The only difference being Pucci does not exist. Jolyne being named Irene is just symbolic that the Joestar curse has finally ended. It does not mean its a new universe. Think of it like a videogame. Emporio killed Pucci before he could save the game. So when Emporio reopened the game, all of Pucci's progress was undone.
@@poemirtiza in a word: No. The JJBA universe was infact reset. The main players exist as different people with different personalities. The fact that Jotaro is alive again should be proof of that. Your video game analogy would be great if a save state was reached and used in a different slot. So a version of the saved game exists that has Pucci being dead and Jotaro being brought back. On a slightly different note. Joseph probably would've rested in peace by letting things unfold initially. But again the universe reset.
It contradicts Erina's character cuz like I would get it if Erina brought Dio into the coffin because she wanted to give him a burial but saving Dio after all he'd done is just silly especially since she has immense anxiety about the vampires coming back to once again ravage her family in part 2
Iirc it wasn’t that Erina put Dio in the coffin, it was that he was already in the second compartment of the coffin and she just kinda let him go out of kindness and hope. It’s kinda stupid of her to do, but tbf she DID just push him out in the middle of the ocean with no where to go in the depths
Dio is one of my all time favorite villains, he's close behind Palpatine for me. Both Takehito Koyasu and Patrick Seitz (his best character only behind Uvogin) were amazing voicing him.
Even Dio is a better person than Palpatine, at least he had redeeming qualities like respecting his henchman and loving Pucci as a friend. Palpatine just sucks as a villain and character Overall, there is nothing interesting about him.
@@stairwaytoheaven8 Dio had no intention of helping Polnareff find J. Geil. He also ordered Steely Dan to kill Enya. Some minions were just mercenaries doing a job like Gray Fly, Imposter Captain Tennille, Forever, Devo, Rubber Soul, Hol Horse, J. Geil, Nena, ZZ, Steely Dan, Arabia Fats, and Cameo. Then you had loyal true believers like Enya, Midler, N'doul, Oingo and Boingo, Anubis, Mariah, Alessi, the D'arby brothers, Pet Shop, Kenny G, Vanilla Ice, Johngalli A and of course Pucci.
Marvel Kraven the Hunter , DC Captain Cold, Jojo outta Funny Valentine and Kars , Roah and Jagi from Fist of the North Star , DBZ Perfect Cell and Frieza
Imo most iconic anime villains are Frieza, Dio, yohan liebert and kira from death note. Some other may make the list but these are top tier anime villains, on the other hand , yes palpatine isn't that great of a character, he's just typical evil guy who has no care for anybody but themselves, I mean ANYBODY, and I hate how they ruined star wars saga with " somehow palpatine returned" I mean wtf can you guys give a logical reasoning of their returning, like part 3 of Jojo or hell Jojo would not have been same if Joseph said"somehow Dio returned" they actually gave logical reason according to jojos bizarre world logic and his plan to steal jonatthans body was actually successful
What I think of this utterly memetic villain is truly astonishing, incredible, ludicrous & yes! Bizarre! But he certainly goes to show that one doesn't automatically become evil when becoming a vampire; bad people just need an incentive to let their inhibitions go
If I remember right, Dio's Japanese voice actor gave an interview where he said the story basically could have ended after Episode 3 of the anime (the fight in the Joestar mansion). Not to say that everything after is unnecessary, obviously, but that Dio's life is essentially over after that: the moment his evil is revealed, he is doomed to forever be a victim of his own hubris. I love that quick moment from Stardust Crusaders, when Dio pauses in the middle of his pursuit of the Joestar gang to marvel at a modern car. Dio's power came at the cost of any chance of growth.
What's funny about Dio is that initially he hates Johnathan with all his being, and by the end, Johnathan, even dead 100 years, is likely the only person he ever loved.
@@atif45602 Nah, I genuinely think he loved Jonathan. He's the complete antithesis of himself, even going as far as to sacrifice himself to save the woman he loved while holding the severed head of his adopted brother. Dio's face as Jonathan is holding him looks as though he finally understood what love actually is.
@@SSD_Penumbra He didn't love him, he just gained a newfound respect for him. This guy went out of his way to make Jonathan's life a living hell just so he can inherit the Joestar fortune.

Holy shit, perfect timing. This just popped up in my recommended 40 minutes into my shift, and 6 hours after release. This is the episode I’ve been most excited for. Can’t wait to see your analysis, vile eye. Been very keenly waiting to see your coverage of DIO.
Thank goodness we finally got DIO. I've been wanting thsi episode for so long. Can't wait to see other JJBA villains (especially Funny Valentine if we get there, because he's by far the best written)
DIO’s Heaven plan always struck me as something born out of a deeply rooted need for security. As a child he grew up in an environment where food, shelter, and peace was never guaranteed at the end of the day.
Dio Brando is a dark parody of a Victorian novel protagonist: -Like a traditional victorian protagonist, Dio was born poor and lost a parent due to tragic circumstances, while not getting along with the other one. Unlike them, Dio lacks the kindness commonly associated with those characters. -While many Victorian novels would have the poor protagonist fighting the evil rich person and winning through guile, the Joestar family are genuinely kind people and Dio is attempting to kill them to get their fortune and out of jealousy. -A Victorian novel protagonist also has a loyal group of friends who support him through thick and thin, Dio's "friends" are in reality a gang of bullies who abandon him the moment he gets knocked off his throne and enable him constantly, allowing him to be an abusive brute.
Wished you've talked about The World more, an embodiment of Dio's personality of being untouchable by anyone else where he has control over anything, and how offended he is when its invalidated. There's also a Hol Horse manga that describes Dio's relations with subordinates. Also the comment that Dio doesn't exist in the new universe is just false.
I think an episode on the Anti Spiral from Gurren Lagann would be a very interesting episode. Their motivations are ones that come from a genuine desire to protect the universe at the cost of the livelihoods and freedoms of everyone else.
Here are some suggestions. -Emperor of Mankind from Warhammer 40K, this would be more of a debate if he is even evil or not but I like to hear what you would say about him -Archaon the thirteenth Everchosen of Chaos from Warhammer fantasy -Cyrus from Pokemon -Akira Nishikiyama from Yakuza
Vile Eye, for when you do the Yoshikage Kira video, I have a very important piece of information to say about him. Kira was intentionally made to have a backstory by Araki. He even states this somewhere (possibly an art book or commentary). Point being, he chose not to show it as it would be too dark to show in a teen’s weekly manga. The story involved Kira being abused throughout his life by his mother while his father wouldn’t do anything. This would be the reason as to why Kira hated women and why his father was so protective of him. The backstory wasn’t canned as Araki said he wrote Kira with this in mind. Also, amazing work on Dio. I thought I already knew everything there was on him, but you managed to create a very different painting of him that really highlights the depth of his character. Bravo!
At last! One of my favorite characters in all fiction and my third favorite vampire. DIO is one of the most vile and irredeemable monsters with just as much (if not more) showmanship and presentation. You have my endless thanks for covering this magnificent villain.
So the Heaven plan is actually really interesting because on the surface it would appear like what Dio and Pucci want is a greater good for humanity. The ability to know one’s fate and thus have the anxiety of the uncertain stripped from you sounds good on paper; but there’s a few things to keep in mind. The first is that Dio and Pucci are not actually doing this out of the goodness of their hearts nor even for a greater good. Dio is a prideful egomaniac who believes he stands atop humanity and thus believes he can project his thoughts and beliefs onto them without their consent; where as Pucci is an unwavering follower of a false idol and thus is blind to the true evil behind their version of “Heaven”. And two, their version of Heaven is a twisted ideal that goes against the center theme of Jojo. As Araki has stated before, Jojo is a celebration of humanity, and to be human as the series has pointed out is to accept one’s fate and to face it head on with righteousness and resolve despite the uncertainty in their minds. Dio’s heaven would rob humanity of its strongest trait and that is the ability to face fate even in uncertainty. Because if everyone knows their fates why would they bother actually living? If you already know how your life is going to go, the surprises, the love, and the good that life brings will be meaningless because it’s essentially spoiled for you. Most importantly, your actions can impact the fates of others around you, but if nobody feels the need to act anymore, then the influence someone can have and the good they bring to the world will be lost. That’s why in the end, Pucci loses, and a world where neither his nor Dio’s actions is created at the end of Stone Ocean. Because the two of them did not want to free humanity at all, but would instead create a world founded on their unproven ideals and subjugated all of humanity to what they believe is right because “they know better”. So in short, Dio’s heaven plan is evil, but evil in the strange and bizarre way evil is in Jojo😂
Dio is a one-of-a-kind villain. There's a sort of poise and class to everything he does that makes him such a joy to watch. Dio was clearly born in the wrong social class.
Hope to see these covered some day: - Joe Cooper (Killer Joe) - Nino Brown (New Jack City) - Jake "The Muss" Heke (Once Were Warriors) - Spider-Man 3 villains (Sandman and Venom) - Dr. X (from the Operation: Mindcrime albums by Queensrÿche)
YESSSSS! DIO is my favorite anime/manga villain and today is my birthday! Thanks for today’s upload😁😁! I cannot wait my third favorite hopefully soon, Ryo Asuka from Devilman Crybaby.
I find the most interesting part of DIOs character are the people he actually somewhat cares for, like his mother, and to an extent Jonathan’s especially after his death, he showed a lot of respect and in his own way care for him. Not to mention his relationship with Pucci. It gives me a lot of depth and I always liked that the only person DIO ever respected was Jonathan, and that ultimately he still saw him as his brother.
I've never seen a show with one character being such a monolith hanging over the heads of the main characters. Dios influnce is felt for every single arc, and its done in a masterful way. One of the top villains for sure.
Jojo has some of the best villains in the anime/manga world IMO. DIO is such a petty asshole right from the start that all the additional thoughts from his diary only enrich what the first episode already set up brilliantly. Also you are absolutely right Kira DEFINITELY deserves his own video.
Dio, whose name means god is a complete god complex sociopath. Everyone that serves him is a pawn. I don’t think he cared about anyone, including Pucci and his various male and female lovers. As it shown that Dio would consume his lovers, who were essentially just concubines. Even after his true death, Dio still had a vessel for revenge in the form of Pucci, who was again a pawn. Excellent villain analysis as always. Villain Profile Suggestions: 1. Frank Underwood/Francis Urquart (House of Cards) 3. 001 (Squid Game) 4. Petyr Baelish (A Song of Ice and Fire) 5. Frank Gallagher (Shameless US 6. Marty and Wendy Byrde (Ozark) 7. Dudley Smith (L.A Confidential) 9. Lilith (Diablo 4) 10. Idi Amin (Last King of Scotland) 11. Kratos (God of War series) 12. Eric Cartman (South Park) 13. Father (Full Metal Alchemist) 14. The Sons of Anarchy Gang
Disagreed, while many characters remark that he was "born evil" or is "pure evil" that isn't necessarily true. He did care about Jonathan and Pucci but sadly due to either his own ego or Pucci's inability to view him as an equal neither could change him in a meaningful way.
You mentioned father, are you talking about elrics father who accidentally created alchemy or you are talking about the one in the flask who was jealous of humans and their flesh and wanted to live, because he was the one who teached father alchemy and made him kill loads of people( i forgot i watched it 5 years ago) and he just wanted his body to be in flesh , kinda. Like AM from i have no mouth and i must scream, although the one in the flask never felt much hate to any human let alone elrics father, he actually liked him but he couldn't resist his desire to be in flesh , with all the knowledge he had , he sure did do some wild stuff.
Also if you are talking about eric Cartman, then peter griffin can be in the convo, he destroyed cities fighting the chicken over a fake coupon. I wouldn't think eric would be a great analysis bcz st the end of rhe day its a gag character , but still it would be fun and more light heearted compared to other villians , if you mentioned cartman than Stewie should be analyzed too , he as a 2 or 1 year old did loads of wild stuff .
In regards to knowing your own fate, it kind of brings up an interesting idea: if EVERYONE knows their own fate and if some change their own fate, would that (ironically) create chaos from uncertainty? If that's the case, would that make DIO's idea of heaven self-defeating? Considering that Pucci was defeated regardless, I would say that DIO's heaven was doomed from the start, or at the very least unsustainable in the long term.
The thing is that fate can't be changed naturally. Some Stands can alter fate but typically it just ends up going through a similar course. If DIO achieved his Heaven Plan, he would be the only one exempt from fate, everyone else would be a knowing slave of it and couldn't do anything about it. Fate in the Jojo Universe is a real thing, compared to gravity by DIO in how it moves people and things on a pre-determined path. If you are fated to do something in Jojo, you will do it unless you happen to have some ability to avoid it (Made in Heaven, Bites the Dust, King Crimson). As an example, if you are fated to be hit by a car, you will get hit by a car. Even if you know you will get hit by a car, even if you know the exact time, place and car that will, you are still getting hit by it. Fate will move you to that path. This is why at the end of Part 6, Empirio really couldn't do anything differently than what he did in the original universe. If it wasn't for Pucci changing his fate by accidentally inserting the Stand disk into him, he would have been defenseless to do anything as he'd be a slave to fate. So if you were in DIO's Heaven, you would know you are about to be hit by a car, but can't do anything to stop it.
Point is that people couldn't change their fate even if they wanted or tried, only one who could alter fate in the new universe was Pucci. Emporio tricked Pucci into inserting a Stand disc into Emporio because he literally couldn't do it himself (sure you could argue if tricking someone else into doing something is still you doing it, but in the end, it's a fantasy story)

I'm always happy to see another video from the Vile Eye uploaded. Would you consider doing a video analyzing Sephiroth from FF7? He's one of my favorite tragic villains.
It's fitting that Dio became a vampire, because, fundamentally, Dio is nothing but a parasite. Everything that Dio has, he only has because he stole it from the Jostars. He only gained the chance to hone his body and mind because he had Jostar's money and status via a wrongfully obtained status as George Jostar's adoptive son. He only had the chance to become a vampire because he stole the Stone Mask from George Jostar. He only survived his first death by stealing Jonathan Jostar's body. He only acquired a Stand due to possessing Jonathan Jostar's body, and there are arguments that The World is actually Jonathan's Stand, not Dio's. He only mastered The World by stealing blood from Joseph Jostar. Without the Jostars, Dio would have been nothing.
Agreed. Alal When ever Hamon users get stands the stand manifest itself as purple thorny vines for example Joseph's hermit purple. For example if Caesar were to get a stand it would also manifest as purple thorns. The purple thorns that Dio uses is actually Jonathan's stand. On a side not, In his younger days Joseph could have used hermit purple to swing around like Spider-man but he only did it in the final fight of S.C.
At around 32:56 you specifically point out the conversation DIO has with Boingo regarding his prediction abilities, and specifically the ability for them to prepare for their "fates". That's actually a pretty useful tool in that regard because it makes it out like you can change things. If that's possible, then DIO always being able to tell what's coming next, in an immortal body, would be infinitely beneficial not only to himself, but also the rest of the world. The only real downside in that case would be the inability to ever be blissfully unaware of your own future. You could still choose to not act as well, so I guess in a way that's true ultimate freedom. I'm not sure if I would count this as omniscience or the status of "All-Knowing" given to the world, but as you state if he just gives this to himself then yeah it's not great as it would just help maintain his rule over the world.
There's one small mistake in this video. The 14 phrase password is not necessary to the Heaven Plan, its necessary to Pucci. It's his backup in case he dies. Thats why he has his leftover bone so Pucci can create the Green Baby. When Pucci tells the Green Baby, a product of Dio's will and remaining body, the 14 phrases etched into his Stand (his very soul), the Green Baby would recognize and act out Dio's will, fusing with Pucci, the holder of the password, as the carrier of Dio's will. Other than that great video. I love that you talk about how Fate in JoJo is a tangible, unchangable force that acts as the universal rules to the JoJo universe and actually understand Dio's Heaven Plan. Ive been wanting a JoJo video for literal years so this brings a huge smile to my face. Regarding his plan, Dio's Heaven Plan is pure evil. He's not doing it for the good of others, he's doing it so humanity would he forced to come to terms with his plan of world domination. A world where no one would dare to fight back as Fate would he against their attempts. Dio is evil the very core. Also the new universe in part 6 isn't a brand new world. Parts 1-5 are canon, but events regarding part 6 and Pucci's influence is completely gone.
Superb video as usual. I'm so glad you covered Dio, I've been hoping you would cover more anime villains. And Dio is one of the best. My favourite moment is in Stardust crusaders when Polnareff is trying to walk up the stairs towards Dio but keeps finding himself back at the bottom of the stairs when he gets halfway up. It happened several times. The implication is that Dio was freezing time and manually moving him each time just to mess with him. It's so deliciously petty but it's what makes him so interesting as well.
I have been WAITING for you to do this character for a time now and I have to say you did not disappoint. Can't wait to see you do the other characters in the Jojo franchise.
39:40 I see the heaven plan as just a bad thing. Shown in the anime and manga the prison guards knew if they went down the hallway they would get hurt but they couldn't do anything about it. To Dio it might've been heaven but to everyone who doesn't see the world in Dios way it is more like hell.
@@willdiesel8431basically part 6 never happened, probably Dio in the new universe alongside pucci died in Egypt or jotaro and Joseph found pucci before he could do his heaven plan, making jolyne not to go jail and having a good life and relationship with anasui. At least that's what I think because yes ,Dio definitely existed and it was pucci that wasn't in the new universe, but I still believe he either didn't meet Dio or met his demise way before he could unleash his heaven plan, pucci is probably the most successful villian, he effortlessly killed all the joestars but only emporio was able to get him with weather reports ability.
@@atif45602 thanks but that's not exactly what I asked. There are 'theories' out there but I wanted to know from people who actually read the entirety of Part 7. I appreciate your explanation but the reason for my inquiry was to determine if Part 7 specifically was worth diving into. If DIO is still being waxed about poetically yet again, I'm going to be turned off quicker than an unpaid streaming service. Someone else already stated that DIO is DEEPLY influential to the plot of Part 7 and I was already skeptical of the people calling that arc the best in the series. So...yeah, I was looking for some insight, if spoilers are necessary I wouldn't care all that much. I guess I could read the wikia on the series but it is almost ALWAYS better to get the interpretations of the fans.
@@willdiesel8431 Part 7 is completely unrelated to parts 1-6. The Dio in part 7 is not the same person as the dio from previous arcs, a lot of characters just borrow names from their older counterparts.

I was thinking of what would be a nifty follow-up to Dio... *Maximilian (Vampire in Brooklyn) ...given that: 1) we're coming up on "Wes Craven Day" (he would've turned 85 on August 2); 2) Eddie Murphy's reboot of BEVERLY HILLS COP has just been released, right on time for the original's 40th anniversary. What do you think, friends?
Kinda late to this but there's one thing I like to add about Dio, his god complex disturbingly solved evil if his entanglement with the Jostars lead to his own erasure. If it wasn't for Dio's influence, Pucchi wouldn't have unlocked Heaven's Gate to restart the entire world and his defeat undid every evil act and deed Dio has done to the world by erasing his own existence. What makes this so tricky to call a good act is that his Italian son, Jiorno, wanted to join the mafia to improve life and stop the drug trafficking among young kids.

Case in point, he's the only one he referred to as JoJo and deemed his body worthy to take as his own.
he loved Johnathan, and in that moment, he loved him true, and is likely the only being he had any real positive feelings for.
Yeah It was the best moment of part 1 IMO and I wish there was more to it.

Dio is SO evil that he turned a woman into a vampire and made her eat her own baby.
He technically didn't make her, he just turned her into a zombie and she then ate the baby of her own accord. I'm pretty sure Dio himself actually comments on it.

@@Green-6027 bro really thought he was a demon typing that comment out
The most interesting part of Dio's evil is how petty it can be.

Your coment made me look in too Dio´s lyrics, men you have a great point, from Holy diver "You can feel he´s hart, but you know he´s mean".
"Holy Diver" also inspires the design of his Stand, since The World looks like a golden diver
You forgot Rainbow's song Stargazer, for which Dio was the lead vocalist. It probably was the source for the tarot card theme, and the heaven plan being thwarted by the Star (and also time stopping)
I like how Dio has heavily influenced the JoJo series after his death.

His actions influences the events of Pt.4
His son is the main protagonist of Pt.5
His best friend is the main villain in Pt.6
His best friend reset the universe for both Pt. 7 and 8
Dio ends up fucking with the Joestars in one way or another
I'd like to point that in the context of the main literature, regardless of media (manga or anime) that the heaven plan is never framed to be good for humanity in any way.
Keep up this wonderful work, sir.
To be fair to Speedwagon, "born evil" and "born a psycho/sociopath" were basically the same thing for someone in Victorian London.

@@willdiesel8431 he does have a part to play in Steel Ball Run but not as the main villain
The Over Heaven light novel is not canon, which is where "Erina put dio in the coffin" comes from
That's why I don't remember it happening.

DIO’s Heaven plan always struck me as something born out of a deeply rooted need for security. As a child he grew up in an environment where food, shelter, and peace was never guaranteed at the end of the day.
Dio Brando is a dark parody of a Victorian novel protagonist:
-Like a traditional victorian protagonist, Dio was born poor and lost a parent due to tragic circumstances, while not getting along with the other one.
Hol Horse damn near shits himself when he draws Emperor on Dio *and he walks away from him, laughing*
I think an episode on the Anti Spiral from Gurren Lagann would be a very interesting episode. Their motivations are ones that come from a genuine desire to protect the universe at the cost of the livelihoods and freedoms of everyone else.
Here are some suggestions.
-Emperor of Mankind from Warhammer 40K, this would be more of a debate if he is even evil or not but I like to hear what you would say about him
-Archaon the thirteenth Everchosen of Chaos from Warhammer fantasy
-Cyrus from Pokemon
-Akira Nishikiyama from Yakuza

"How Many Breads Have You Eaten In Your Life"
The fact that he compared to human lives to bread showed how he truly discarded his humanity.
@@lisboahI think that was obvious in Episode 1...
That’s a face only a mother could strangle.
Hope to see these covered some day:

Yes. Thank you. One of my favourite villains of all time. I would love if you can do all of the jojo villains because of how unique they are.
I've never seen a show with one character being such a monolith hanging over the heads of the main characters. Dios influnce is felt for every single arc, and its done in a masterful way. One of the top villains for sure.

It's awesome hearing your in-depth analysis of JoJo! The AI generated Kakyoin caught me off guard though xD
Jojo has some of the best villains in the anime/manga world IMO. DIO is such a petty asshole right from the start that all the additional thoughts from his diary only enrich what the first episode already set up brilliantly. Also you are absolutely right Kira DEFINITELY deserves his own video.

Heresy indeed, but it would be a good video
Is it tho . The guy has anti-hero status at best .
You want an inquisitor showing up here?
Good pick
You though this was going to be a video about a normal Hollywood blockbuster villain?
"BUT IT WAS I DIO!"
That vampire was a lawyer first... makes you think about our world 🤔
Dio, whose name means god is a complete god complex sociopath.

6. Marty and Wendy Byrde (Ozark)
7. Dudley Smith (L.A Confidential)

11. Kratos (God of War series)
12. Eric Cartman (South Park)
13. Father (Full Metal Alchemist)
@@anitaremenarova6662 to me it seemed more like he was obsessed with and jealous of Jonathan and was grooming Pucci.

Analyzing Evil: The God-Emperor of Mankind from Warhammer 40k
I'm always happy to see another video from the Vile Eye uploaded. Would you consider doing a video analyzing Sephiroth from FF7?
He's one of my favorite tragic villains.
Giorno character is similar to DIO'S brutal method but with the ideology and soul is much closer to Jonathan.
Giorno is the only Joestar family member who actually kills a living person and does so maliciously.
I’ve been waiting for this video for a long time. Thank you.
He's not got any Animated Media, but from the Warhammer 40,000 Universe the Primarch Conrad Kurze would make an interesting episode.
Funny Valentine deserves a video
Superb video as usual. I'm so glad you covered Dio, I've been hoping you would cover more anime villains. And Dio is one of the best. My favourite moment is in Stardust crusaders when Polnareff is trying to walk up the stairs towards Dio but keeps finding himself back at the bottom of the stairs when he gets halfway up. It happened several times. The implication is that Dio was freezing time and manually moving him each time just to mess with him. It's so deliciously petty but it's what makes him so interesting as well.
Finally!!! CAN'T wait for you to Cover Valentine, Pucci and Kira, Villains who are equal if not far compelling and complex than DIO
While DIO is pure evil, Kira is definitely up there. Pucci isn't that evil and I'd argue Valentine isn't a villain at all, outside of a few incidents.
@@SSD_Penumbra Valentine is absolutely a villain dude.
I have been WAITING for you to do this character for a time now and I have to say you did not disappoint. Can't wait to see you do the other characters in the Jojo franchise.
common misconception - that lady by the carriage incident is not Dio's mother or Dario's wife
39:40 I see the heaven plan as just a bad thing. Shown in the anime and manga the prison guards knew if they went down the hallway they would get hurt but they couldn't do anything about it. To Dio it might've been heaven but to everyone who doesn't see the world in Dios way it is more like hell.
Pucci, Yoshikage, and Funny Valentine are JJBA villains I'm hoping for you to cover.
I'D NEVER thought he would analyze my Lord and Savior, DIO. This is the best thing I have ever wake up to this morning.
Thank you, The Vile Eye.❤
Great video as always. I think you should try analyzing Doflamingo from One Piece. He’s definitely one of anime’s most interesting villains
I really enjoyed hearing the story from such an analytical perspective
its not DIO that got erased in the new universe, it's Pucci, aside from that, goated video
What is DIO's role/influence in the newly reset universe then?
@@DumbSomething awesome 👌
Thanks
The Vile Eye looks like an adult bearded Cartman from South Park.
“probably maybe won’t happen again” 😂 it’s okay to disappoint sometimes brother! you’re human!
I was thinking of what would be a nifty follow-up to Dio...
*Maximilian (Vampire in Brooklyn)
...given that:
1) we're coming up on "Wes Craven Day" (he would've turned 85 on August 2);
2) Eddie Murphy's reboot of BEVERLY HILLS COP has just been released, right on time for the original's 40th anniversary.
What do you think, friends?
FINALLY! I’ve waited so long for this, thank you for covering DIO 🙏
DAMN its DIO time!
