A lot of praise to Messi and he undoubtedly 1000% deserves it but i think we should be giving the same praise to Scaloni - Argentina's manager.. He has taken this squad full of young talented players and won two finals back to back (Copa America & World Cup), it helps when you have the GOAT in the team also lol but the fact he had the confidence in players like Enzo Fernandez - Mac Allister - Julian Alvarez (all aged between 21-23) who are now World Cup winners and have a exciting future ahead of them. Made bold substitutes and changed tactics throughout the tournament. World Class manager right there!

Difference between Southgate and Scaloni. Scaloni had a plan. Di Maria on the left instead of the expected right hand side. Argentina constantly attacked up the left, and when they lost it up there, it meant they lost it on the side of the pitch where Mbappe wasn't present to hit them on the counter. Soon as Di Maria went off though their plan and left hand outlet was gone. Almost cost them.

It really has felt like two heavyweight boxers on a collision course these past few years; France Euro '16 finalists then World Cup '18 winners, Argentina Copa America '21 winners then Finalissima '21 winners. Both teams have beaten the best on their way to this final and the whole game felt like knockdowns were scored, each side getting back up, out off their stool with new energy in each round of the final, and eventually it was Argentina that won a massive points victory.

As far as the 3rd place play off is concerned, I think it's rather unfair that Croatia get to celebrate winning the bronze medal game almost as if they'd won the World Cup itself (did you see them?), ending the tournament on a real high, while France, who won the silver medal, are left inconsolable at losing the biggest game of all, the defeat hardest to take, a real low. It just doesn't seem fair. Of course, France's disappointment at losing the final is unavoidable but Croatia getting to end the tournament on a winning note is avoidable.

How could it be unfair? If they want to celebrate, they should, finishing 3rd place in world football is a fantastic achievement. The runners up are always going to be bitterly disappointed, Croatia went through the same thing at the last world cup. If you look at the Olympics, there are people ecstatic to get a bronze medal. Yes they're alot more excitable than other teams might be, but, why is it unfair? If France wanted to celebrate that way for second place, nobody would stop them, yes it would be damn strange, it just happens to be very different circumstances for both teams.

Say what you like about Qatar and its politics but that final was the greatest advert for football from the last 40 years. If you didn't enjoy that then go watch rugby.
