Last year, he was almost sold for around 150m. The amount of people whodve been involved and had a small packet of that is more than sports fans realise. He's barely worth 50m but the English tax and putting him up amongst names like Messi and mbappe helps bump his price
Mbappe scoring 3 penalties past a keeper who's better at saving them than Lloris really made me rethink Kane's miss. The top players get it done. Penalties can be saved but there's no excuse for not hitting the target.

Simon Jordan is spot on with his analogy for the simple fact that Harry Kane fluffed his lines because he was asked to take his second penalty in normal time against his club colleague. Mbappe in a World Cup final at 23 showed what Harry Kane should have done in the QF. He didn’t even get it on target. Those are the moments where unfortunately he’s shown he’s not quite in the absolute upper echelon of top world class forwards. Of course anyone can miss a penalty but look at the careers of Messi and even Mbappe (still only 23) - you can’t compare what Kane has achieved in terms of trophies to them. Kane hasn’t won anything unlike those two and he has had opportunities as well. The Champions league final where he was essentially non existent, World Cup semi where he missed a massive chance to go 2 up against Croatia and now this pen in the QF.
Kanes an odd striker to me, on his day no doubt in my mind he's up there among some of the best right now but he goes through so many periods where he can go missing and feels like whatever team he is on they're already a man down. Even mentally he just doesn't strike me as a winner.
You are right, Harry Kane isn't a winner. When he does manage to play in a final for Tottenham or England e.g. League Cup Finals, Champions League Final or European Championship Final he does nothing.
@@brocklanders796 in fairness I don't really blame Kane for the CL final, I thought it was baffling Poch picked him over Lucas, even as a Liverpool fan I think Lucas would've been more problematic against us considering he's the reason they were in the final in the first place. The Mbappe equaliser against Argentina was one the greatest goals ever in a World Cup Final - Harry Kane is fantastic player however Mbappe is in a different class - Most football fans accept that - This is a clear case of Kane is not in the same league as Mbappe and Messi.
I would also like to bring up the fact that at least one or possibly two of Mbappe's penalties could've been saved - the keeper got his hand to them. Fine margins...
The problem today is that SJ is talking hard facts, whereas Keown wants to hand out medals to all the kids who entered the competition because otherwise it might hurt their ego
Mbappé was 22 years old - the Euros were only played last year in the summer. Both Simon and Martin make valid points here, IMO. Any player can miss or fail at any point, but for me is more of HOW often do you miss/fail. Also, players can be ‘heroes’ of achievement and excellence in their own fields but that obviously pales in comparison to real life heroes, so to speak.
Kane is not a good striker. Never was. He's not clinical, he's not a poacher, nor does he have the technical dribbling ability like a romário for example
Simon Jordan is being logical and fair, meanwhile you have Martin Keown on the other side being emotional and virtue signalling. Absolutely appalling. If players can be praised an celebrated when they are doing well, they should be equally as criticized when they are not doing well. Harry Kane for me is a good PL player, but he lacks that cutting edge at the highest level. If he wasnt brittish, no one would be singing his praises.
There was a slightly different psychological battle for Kane since he was facing Lloris, who knows him so well. People are treating the penalty like it stopped us from winning. We would have just lost in ET afterwards or on penalties. The fact is we were always playing catch up and were relying on pens to get goals. Maybe we should have scored in open play like France did.
His lack of pace is too much me. for put him number 10 role and put a forward or 2 ahead of him and take captains arm band off him. he cant talk and southgate keeps playing Henson as his leader so just make him captain already.
@@L1am21 Kane is not the problem. The problem is not having more quality like Kane. He's our only world class player. If we did then we might not have needed him to convert 2 penalties.
What ? Psychological battle? My friend Do you Think it's easy to Face Emiliano Crazy Martinez 3 Times!!! .....ask any footballer who they'd rather face Martinez or Hugo Lloris?
I don’t get martins point at all. Is he saying no one is allowed to criticize harry kane for missing the penalty??? Why not ? He had an opportunity to progress his country and he failed. Why can Simon point out the obvious? And must be insulted on national radio for it.
I think Simon is right, and I thought the exact same watching Mbappe take those pens. Kane is captain, he gets paid quarter of a mil a week, a player whose supposed to be up there with the best of the best, and he buckled under the pressure. It is precisely because Kane is so good that he should not be let of the hook for missing penalties in important moments.
Well said Simon, the sheer delusion of the English media is beyond comprehension time and again. Sky Sports had Maguire in the team of the tournament ffs. Kane is no world class striker, Prickford is absolutely rubbish and has no business on the international stage despite the calls for him to be knighted as a world class keeper
Vastly overrated in my opinion ,, he’s played mostly in the midfield throughout this World Cup !! He looks slow , and misses plenty of balls going into the box because he’s outside of it more than inside.
Simon is spot on. He bottled it in that moment. Harry is our best player but he felt the pressure and went out of character. Martin expects footballers to get all the praise and no criticism.
As a Spurs fan, my heart goes out to Kane. But, when he was asked to step up and do a job, he didn't, and he was found wanting. Will he bounce back? Yes... but accept the criticism; the penalty was up there with the worst penalties you will ever see at a major tournament. Keown, my word, what a plum!
Kane has secured his spot on the BBC panel, when he retires, with Lineker and Shearer. He will get to to glorify a tournament semi final place, as if it was a victory, Just like Alan and Gary do rn
I wouldn't judge Kane just on a penalty miss. If anything blame Southgate for asking his most prolific striker to also be the playmaker and defender. Mbappe does virtually nothing when France doesn't have possession but is lethal when they attack.
As harsh as Simon makes it sound he is right. When you are a leader like Kane is those moments are what you are needed for. When the goalkeeper makes a brilliant save that's life he guessed correct and saved it. Kicking it like a Rugby conversion is another story. Empathy and sympathy for those earning 250k a week and only want praise and no criticism.
20 years ago belgium would have overachieved, 30 years ago spain you be surprised if they made it out the group stage. 10 years ago, england started welbeck, cleverley, young, glen johnson, parker every game. the expectation is adjusted accordingly based on what you have in hand. if southgate had squad from 12 years ago, he wouldnt even qualify for world cup.
I hope they clip the last couple of minutes of the stream where Keown accuses Jordan and White of getting back handers in Qatar, and they both burst into laughter at the same time. It was classic lol
Nervous laughter is a tell-tale sign. It's not a coincidence that Simon "everyone has a price" Jordan dramatically changed his opinion on state-owned football clubs after meeting with Nasser Al-Khelaifi. Keown has a point, to be perfectly fair.
2:44 - 3:30 Agree with Simon. You can't have it both ways. If you're gonna heap (undue) praise on a player, then you can also heap (undue) criticism on the same player.
Let’s not forget that Harry Kane is an outstanding player who’s scored nearly 200 PL goals for Spurs. We all see that Mbappe is a level above with him delivering in the big moment and Kane doesn’t but we gotta remember that every player is only human at the end of the day. misses can happen
So Keown didn’t like hearing criticism from Jordan about his “hero” Kane, and after Jordan answers Keowns attacks, he attacks Jordan personally. When you attack someone on a personal level, you’ve lost the argument.
missed penalties ... not limited to - Pearce 1990 Gareth Southgate 1996 David Batty 1998 David Beckham 2004 (vs France & Portugal) Carragher, Gerrard, Lampard 2006 Young & Cole 2012 Rashford, Saka, Sancho 2021 Kane 2022 Its an England problem. Netherlands have a similar problem, they are also terrible at penalties. Germany & Argentina are awesome. Some national teams just have superior mental fortitude in critical moments which gets them over the line.
I do like Simon Jordan! 😀 I’d love to hear what his opinion is of Roberto Baggio (one of the world’s greatest player at the time) missing in the penalty shootout for Italy in the 1994 World Cup Final.
I don’t care in the sense that I don’t support England but, for what, ten or almost ten years, Kane has been practicing penalties…against Lloris. Whilst it works both ways, there’s no player on Earth who knows your penalty technique and strategy etc. better than your club keeper. I’m not saying Simon or Keown are right or wrong on their comments but, I think it should have been a different penalty kick taker (especially on the second penalty) in the first place if England wanted a better chance at success.
Messi has missed important penalties before. It means nothing. Mbappe 100% felt pressure but managed to overcome it on THAT day. Next time maybe he doesn't. Next time maybe Kane has an even more pressurised penalty and nails it.

But have Mbappe or Messi won the Audi Cup? 🤣🤣🤣
@@AllThisOverASliceOfGabagool 🤣🤣
Euro final as well
Those 3 penalties from mbappe has really shown kane didn’t have the minerals 😭
I liked how sympathetic Keown was towards Rude Van Nistlerooy when he missed that injury time penalty at OT in 2003.
😂😂😂😂😂💯💯👍👍👍
Different context
Keown is either on drugs or he should be 😂😂😂
😂 clever
100% sniffing glue and petrol
Comparing Kane to Mbappe.. 😂
Kanes an odd striker to me, on his day no doubt in my mind he's up there among some of the best right now but he goes through so many periods where he can go missing and feels like whatever team he is on they're already a man down. Even mentally he just doesn't strike me as a winner.
theres a video on TH-cam that tells Kane's life story and how he came to have the weak mental state of mind that he has
You are right, Harry Kane isn't a winner.
I dunno what it is with alot of these managers insisting on playing him I'm sure if he died at some point they'd just throw his corpse up front. Funnily enough despite how much our media villifies him I think his best football was under mourinho.
Mental fortitude of Mbappe yesterday was through the roofs. He knew exactly where he wanted to kick the ball in the net and whether Martinez knows that or not already doesn’t matter, I’m gonna score anyway. Mental strength:: Elite level.
Big player
Martin still making excuses for failure. This mindset is why England will never win anything.
Sí sí sí sí
Estoy de acuerdo
My estimation of Martin Keown as a man has plummeted since joining TalkSport. I thought that he was a true leader of men, after all he was in one of the greatest footballing sides in British football history. Yet here, he talks like a fucking wet lettuce. It's an absolute disgrace
England were beat before they even started think we mist sterling's pace and hard running always looking to get in behind. I would of played grealish instead off foden can't see what all the fuss is about he not strong enough yet I would rather mark him that kounde bullyed him he not a left winger
@@AllThisOverASliceOfGabagool aw ♥ my .... dios mío....🤗
At last a man after my own heart. So to speak. Exactamente my thoughts. Everything you said. I'm so let down. He's so unmanly. I'm a lass and it's so wet. It's horrible 😞 man up
This got personal🤣🤣🤣🤣
Really Martin, bringing up Palace, for shame
It doesn’t just come down to penalties, Kane has underperformed a lot in the games that matter. His scoring record on paper is good but when it really matters that’s what people remember
Simon spot on as usual
Kane didn't just miss. He skyed it over the bar. He definitely succumbed to the pressure.
Simon calling a spade a spade.
Martin: i like apples
Simon: i love apples too!
Martin: nevermind, apples are a disgrace
Tbf Keown telling Jim to 'Listen and he might have a decent contribution for once' was an absolute banger. Even a broken clocks right twice a day
Love the bit where Keown looks over his shoulder…’looking for Tony Adams to back him up again’….😂
"but Mbappe missed last time"
"But Messi missed in the final as well"
Ok, and? That means they succumbed to pressure in those instances as well, nobody called Kane a serial bottle job, he just folded in that specific game
Simon is spot on 😁😁😁😁
Anyone can miss a penalty though and Keown gave him perfect examples
1) Mbappe wasn't 19, this was just last year lol he was 22
2) Messi has missed important penalties
3) Ronaldo has missed important penalties
4) Maradona has missed important penalties. It happens.
Tomorrow, Mbappe may miss a penalty in UCL, and Kane may bag 10 in the biggest game ever. Their elite and no one has a 100 percent record unless you're.....Hierro, no wait he missed,....Le Tissier......no wait he missed.......Ricky Lambert, but did he take the biggest ones?
Simon Jordan speaks the most sense I've heard as any pundit out there
Bruh he is a genius.
@@sibonisoduma5878 Yeah that's why he works for trashy tabloid radio station talksport. Grow up.
He's not a pundit William. Pundit implies a level of expertise. He's not a football expert. He doesn't know what he's going on about most of the time when ti comes to football. He likes to think he's an expert at business and finance though, even though he's a failed club owner who's been reduced to working on this garbage platform 5 days a week.
Simon Jordan is a genius
After watching France last night, I realised we never had a chance against France
Well that's total bullshit
Imagine England in that WC final game😂😂
@@Fractalchemystical they never got out of second gear bud, they knew our end game, whole world consider us spurs of international football bud.
Lmfao Simon is the GOAT this man always entertains with his ruthlessness 😂😂
The Mbappe equaliser against Argentina was one the greatest goals ever in a World Cup Final - Harry Kane is fantastic player however Mbappe is in a different class - Most football fans accept that - This is a clear case of Kane is not in the same league as Mbappe and Messi.
You can miss a pen if your Messi and Mbappe when they’ve already achieved loads. When your Harry Kane, a serial bottler, you HAVE to score
Spot on Simon!
Well said my man
Good comment!
Kane is not a good striker. Never was. He's not clinical, he's not a poacher, nor does he have the technical dribbling ability like a romário for example
Simon wins again. To be fair it's not hard with Keown
Simon Jordan ---> Martin Keown
England ----> San Marino
Harry Kane is the only player ever to be deemed world class without winning a single medal at club and international level
@@joewhite22 kane is a problem as he never actually plays up front the amount of crosses in box where he is not there is ridiculous.
@@L1am21 Maybe Southgate needs to tweak the system to accommodate then?
What ? Psychological battle? My friend Do you Think it's easy to Face Emiliano Crazy Martinez 3 Times!!! .....ask any footballer who they'd rather face Martinez or Hugo Lloris?
If anyone says “I call it how I see it” it means “I’m a big mouth prick”
Harry Kane also BOTTLED his pen in the euros against Denmark but got lucky with the rebound
Martin Keown spouting Utter Tripe as usual. HOW does he get paid for it??!!!
Facing Loris was prob the kicker! If Mbappe was facing his club keeper, prob diff
Simon as ever spot on Kane bottled it simple
Prove it.
I’m also a spurs fan. Serious question; do u think kane is world class?
Kane has secured his spot on the BBC panel, when he retires, with Lineker and Shearer. He will get to to glorify a tournament semi final place, as if it was a victory, Just like Alan and Gary do rn
I wouldn't judge Kane just on a penalty miss. If anything blame Southgate for asking his most prolific striker to also be the playmaker and defender. Mbappe does virtually nothing when France doesn't have possession but is lethal when they attack.
Martin lives in a dream land
As harsh as Simon makes it sound he is right. When you are a leader like Kane is those moments are what you are needed for. When the goalkeeper makes a brilliant save that's life he guessed correct and saved it. Kicking it like a Rugby conversion is another story. Empathy and sympathy for those earning 250k a week and only want praise and no criticism.
Simon? Oh, I thought that was Clare Balding. Is it not???
Keown reacting emotionally again. The facts are the facts.
At 3 min 50 Mark: Simon is so damn Spot on! 👏👏🇩🇪🏴✌️👍
Keown is full of crap. He can't call a spade a spade when even Harry will admit the moment got to him
At 19 years of age?
He missed a penalty in the Euro’s
Out of my group chat, 9 of us out of 15 said he would sky it over. He can’t handle the pressure
The big stage is not for Harry kane dats why he's still at Tottenham cause he's afraid of the pressure dat comes with it.
Never trust a person who writes "dat" instead of 'that'. The reason being is that those people are idiots.
@@Fractalchemystical I wonder how her indoors has taken to Simon's sudden appreciation of the Middle Eastern States lol.
That's the difference between world class and elite, Harry Kane is world class,Mbappe is Elite
but also when players accept praise they should also accept the vice versa, and when the matters great people rise to the moment.
So Keown didn’t like hearing criticism from Jordan about his “hero” Kane, and after Jordan answers Keowns attacks, he attacks Jordan personally. When you attack someone on a personal level, you’ve lost the argument.
_"It's time for you to let go of what happened to you at Crystal Palace"_ - Martin Keown.
😂🤣
To be fair that was the only part where I cheered Keown on. The rest? He's proper wet behind the ears
missed penalties ... not limited to -
Pearce 1990
Gareth Southgate 1996
David Batty 1998
David Beckham 2004 (vs France & Portugal)
Carragher, Gerrard, Lampard 2006
Young & Cole 2012
Rashford, Saka, Sancho 2021
Kane 2022
Its an England problem. Netherlands have a similar problem, they are also terrible at penalties. Germany & Argentina are awesome. Some national teams just have superior mental fortitude in critical moments which gets them over the line.
I do like Simon Jordan! 😀
I’d love to hear what his opinion is of Roberto Baggio (one of the world’s greatest player at the time) missing in the penalty shootout for Italy in the 1994 World Cup Final.
I’m pretty sure Maradona , Zico and Socrates all missed penalties at a World Cup .
Oh, so that's Simon Jordan? I thought she was Clare Balding.
Everytime I watch these guys go at it, I can just sense that they genuinely do hate eachother
Now imagine media reaction if it was Saka or Rashford missing the penalty.
I knew these guys will talk about this today 😂
Messi has missed important penalties before. It means nothing. Mbappe 100% felt pressure but managed to overcome it on THAT day. Next time maybe he doesn't. Next time maybe Kane has an even more pressurised penalty and nails it.
There's no love lost between Simon & Martin,is there? If looks could kill.😂
