    I definitely will be giving this a shot! 😊 My oldest daughter has a Cameo machine. After her Cricut got stolen along with her large heat press, she found someone selling a smaller heat press. She told the woman what happened to her former equipment & she sent her home with the heat press AND the Cameo machine because she didn’t have time to enjoy it. It helped my daughter so much. She loves working with the machine, albeit she isn’t a fan of the weeding part. My youngest daughter likes to weed; she finds it therapeutic. LOL!
    I’d love to try a full or side view butterfly on a mug or rice bowl.

      Yay! Please give it a try and let me know how it goes, it can be a bit tedious but I enjoy it. In fact I have a silhouette cameo too! I just say cricut as that’s more common. The Cameo works great though and I’ve had it several years and move it to multiple houses at this point. I’ve done a monarch butterfly from the side, I think there might be a picture on my IG account @lisarilandceramics if you want to take a look. Have fun!!

    Oh my gosh, this looks wonderful! I am going to try this technique but not sure I have the guts (or patience) to make my own decal. But I do think I see a decal purchase in my future :-) Have you ever used purchased decals for this same effect? Also, are these your homemade glazes or a retail product? And finally, do you use regular glaze or underglaze for this?
    I want to thank you for joining the TH-cam community. I’m not sure how I found you but I’ve watched all of your videos and am so inspired by you ❣️

    • @Lisa.Riland
      @Lisa.Riland  2 วันที่ผ่านมา

      I haven’t purchased decals, but I’m sure the would work, the only trick is getting the right positive or negative of the image that you want. Since I use this as more of a sticky stencil, it might be hard to find the decal that you want. However, I have used decals themselves as the ‘resist’ so you can use them, apply your glaze and then peal them off and you have your image (just like if you used wax resist), that’s a fun technique too and I’ll try to show it on an upcoming video because it is a simpler design, but also aesthetically very cool. I do formulate my glazes but no reason you couldn’t do the same thing with commercial glazes and the black outline is in fact an underglaze that is purchased. I have several ideas on how to play with underglazes and stencils more too so stick around :) I’m thrilled to be in the community thank you so much for all the positive comments it makes my little maker heart soar!

    Wow! Wow! Wow! I love dragonflies and you truly showed a labor of love. Therapeutic for sure. I don’t have that artistic talent nor a kiln😊 so means will sadly not trying your idea. The elk looks nice also. Shall look at more of your videos. Is the stencil available for purchase as a svg?

    • @Lisa.Riland
      @Lisa.Riland  วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      Your words are so kind, thank you so very much!! I honestly don’t feel like I have the artistic talent myself, but I’m a maker for sure. The dragonfly I actually traced off of a photo I took of one on my fence! The Elk I used AI to help design too. Hope you enjoy other videos as well, I will look into selling the stencils maybe, I’m afraid those two are quite tedious so folks may not enjoy but I have made others that are easier too. I think it could be easy to provide the digital downloads I just haven’t explored it yet.

    Beautiful mug. I'm looking forward to seeing some more of your videos. Just one question... do you normally leave the rim of your mug without glaze if you are dipping in one go? I don't really understand how you get a crisp line between the inside glaze and the outside glaze.

    • @Lisa.Riland
      @Lisa.Riland  วันที่ผ่านมา

      Thank you so much for the question, in my next video I’ll show the first part of my glazing process for this style and explain better. If I’m dipping the whole mug in one go, or one glaze, I don’t do the wax on the rim. But I do prefer having a nice glossy glaze inside and more of a matte glaze outside so I use the wax to prevent them from over lapping. It takes a little practice but stay tuned and I’ll cover it in more detail soon 😊

  • @SugarMapleFarmhouse
    @SugarMapleFarmhouse 6 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา

    So you will use underglaze on bisque fire and then glaze over that? Also, can you show the rim thing? People always talk about this but I don’t understand how the wax resist then comes off so you can glaze the rim.

    • @Lisa.Riland
      @Lisa.Riland  4 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา

      Thank you for the questions, in the next video I’m hoping to answer and clarify how I glaze the inside and do the wax rim, but essentially the rim on my mugs are unglazed, I don’t try to remove the wax it just burns off. As my claybody is white it blends in with the white matte glaze on the outside

    I've recently watched someone who does Curda Seca imagery (Anna's Clay House). This technique appears to be very similar. If one were to add the oil to the underglaze before applying to the stencil, allowing the underglaze to dry before removing the stencil, might the same results be achieved? Just found your channel and am enjoying it very much.
