Super Colourful Art Nouveau Stained Glass Window Making

- Hi everyone, I was looking through my old camera and came across this footage from the end of 2022. I didn't post it on TH-cam at the time as I was hoping the client was going to send me over a few photos of the work once fitted. Unfortunately they didn't get back to me and I forgot about the footage till the other day.
I thought it was a good time to edit this video together as I've had a couple of weeks time off from the workshop whilst my arm recovered from the distal bicep tendon rupture surgery.
This video is a little different to most of my other edits. I've narrated this video as I've been asked a few times recently to make the captions available in other languages. It's a little nerve wracking waffling on about what I'm doing but if I don't practice then I'm not going to get any better at it!
Please be gentle with me in the comments 😂
🦾 Recovery update:- It's only be 2.5 weeks since the surgery and I've already almost got full movement back. It's still a little tender but I returned to the workshop in the middle of week and made a start on the next project 💛🧡💚

Oh my gosh, you’re amazing at cutting glass
Cheers buddy 💚
I appreciate the slower pace of this video with more of your voice over commentary. Hope you make more like this one. Thanks for putting this out there for us!
Great feedback, noted for next time 🫶🤜💥🤛
I have a question.? When dealing with the Lead bars, are you worried of being contaminated by the lead or is it a special type of metal that you’re using for the glass so you don’t get contaminated?
I have regular blood tests at the doctors to check my blood levels. Been doing it this way for 27+ years 🫶💛
Beautiful!!! I've never seen anyone cut the lead cane strips to size before cutting the glass! That was a surprise to me ! Lovely workmanship! ✨
This set came out gorgeous didn't it! 💛🧡💚🩵❤️💛 Cheers for watching 🍻
I love the texture and colors used for this door. Wissmach makes some really nice textures in their glass, like the English Muffle, Mystic, and the Corella Classic you're using on this project.
I've been using there glass for bloody years and I do love it. I'd really like to visit the factory at some point in the future over in Paden City and see it being made 🫶
@@LightLeadedDesigns If you do get a chance to tour their factory, you also might want to do the Kokomo Glass factory tour in Indiana. That's the oldest stained glass maker in the US and had Louis Comfort Tiffany as one of their earliest customers.
Great to see an expert at work. Hope you're healing well.
It's really surprising me how quickly it's healing to be honest! Looking forward to getting back to at it again, cheers for watching Frank
Great video! I love the explanation of the process.
Lots of me waffling on 🤣🥂
@@LightLeadedDesigns Please keep "waffling" it's really interesting!
Thank you for making your videos. I love your work.
Cheers buddy they do take alot of time 🤜💥🤛
I've never seen anyone work glass as efficiently truly wonderful to watch. Thank you.
Aww thanks for the comment buddy, it's all down to a lot of practice 💛💚🩵
So gorgeous. Love your work. I think this is my favorite so far. ❤
I loved those colours ❤️💛💚🧡🩵, cheers for watching
Gracias amigo. A tu arte volvemos a sentir pasion x el vidrio y mucha gente lo volverá amar.

Can't give enough thumbs-up! Beautiful work! Always a pleasure to watch the proceedings of a project.
Awww thanks buddy, this one was super funky ❤️🤍🧡💛💚
May God bless you and keep you in good health. You have been bestowed with an amazing talent. The work is amazing.
Cheers buddy, it's a lot of work but it's very enjoyable 🩵💚🧡
Si me gusta tus trabajos y el orden que llevas en tu taller pocos trabajan asi😊❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Cheers buddy, helps me stay productive if I keep the shop clean 🍻
Loved it, and really liked the more in depth video….. I can’t be the only one that holds their breathe every time it’s been scribed, and he goes to ‘break it’ everytime lol
For the interesting projects I'm going to make more longer ones like this 🍻🫶
Wunderschön! Ich mag diesen Stil und die perfekte Verarbeitung.
Cheers for watching 🍻
Really lovely work. I enjoyed the extra details you shared in this one.
Thank you, the comments help persuade me to narrate again 🤣
What an amazing craft to know how to create. Love it, from 🇨🇦
Thank you buddy, random Canadian fact- I have a friend who's wife is in the RCMP 😂 🐎❤️🤍👏
Glad you shared this one, the narration was helpful. As always, the final product looks great. You can tell you love what you do and take great pride in your work. Hope your healing continues to go smoothly and you are back to your healthy self soon.
Cheers Herb, back the workshop this week. It's been brilliant being productive again!
Enjoyed the narrative and the making of the windows. Hope you are fully recovered. Just subscribed so looking forward to more videos 😊
Cheers Gattsy 💛❤️🧡🍻🍻
I really like the longer video's, where you go more in depth and add more commentary. And as always, absolutely stunning work ❤️
I'll try to keep up with the longer ones with commentary if people like them like that 🫶🫶🫶
Thank you for sharing.
Thanks for watching 🫶
So nice to hear your voice, sir!
Haha cheers 🍻
Wonderful! Thanks for the commentary along the way. Cheers!
Cheers Tom, positive words about the commentary help me want to try it again 🤣🩵💚💛
Beautiful
🧡🩷🤍
Отличная работа,красота!!!
Cheers for watching 🧡💚🩵💛
Beautiful, and very educational. ❤
Thank you Manon 🧡💚
Stunning! Love the panels ❤ Thank you for sharing and the longer video! What do you do with all your scrap glass?!
More longer ones in the future 👏 I try to reuse the smaller pieces in other smaller projects, glass is super expensive!
❤🎉 gorgeous 🎉❤
Thank you Melissa 🩵🤍❤️
Beautiful ❤😂😊
Thank you 🤓🍻
I went to school to do this 25 years ago ..I really loved doing it..would like to get back into it but can't find out where to get the glass now...I used to go to a where house on the city road roundabout in London but it went years ago..could you give me any contacts or tell me where I cold get supplies please..love your work by the way
There are still a good few stained glass suppliers in the UK, I've always always used Pearsons Glass in Liverpool and they do delivery. Mention I sent you 😂🤓
I have just finished making 2 door panels just like you are doing here and currently designing the top 3 panels. I wish I had seen this video 2 months ago 😊when I was starting with the project. I found my biggest challenge was visualising the panel when in situ. My panel is a bright coloured panel like yours in this video, and the colours appeared to work far better when flat on the work bench. Everything looked good to go, However when held up to the light (which we only were able to do when the panel was soldered) i would have switched some colours for others. I guess taping my glass pieces to a solid window (I.e. building the pattern onto a glass window) preferably in the same area where the panel will be installed would help to get an idea of what it will look like when installed? Any other suggestions?
I also wanted to ask what software you use to do your designs?
To be honest for me it's just down to experience.. After a while to get a good feeling for how the colours are will come together in the end 🫶
And I spent a small fortune making my own design program a few years ago 🤜💥🤛
What's up Mate, This was my original craft I started out being interested in. Can you share links here in the US of states for supplies ? Cheers.
Hey buddy I'm in the UK all my suppliers are based over here but I have heard of a supplier over there called Mongos, website www.artglassville.com they are supposed to be good 💚
@@LightLeadedDesigns awesome, thank you my craftwork friend :)
Love the work. How much do you charge per square foot ? And how many hours did it take to finish this project?
It's a couple of weeks start to finish but the cost varies hugely depending on the design detail 🧡
Hello Jan. For us novices. If you haven't all ready and you have the time and patience would you go through the tools that you use and what they're called. I can see what you do with them. I've got so many questions but it's a start. Thank you very much.
I'm more of a working craftsman rather than a teacher so I haven't got a list of everything. On top of that most of my exact tools are over 20years old now and many of them have been discontinued. You'd be best Google searching for tools required 🫶
Can I pay you to apprentice under you for a week. I just finished my glazier apprenticeship and now I’m in love with this art.
Haha cheers for the offer but I'm sorry I'm always super busy making work for clients and then silly busy with family 🤎🩷💛
What ingredients do you use to make your grout mix?
I keep my exact recipe a bit of a secret but it's a very similar recipe to the ones that can be found with Google search for lead light cement recipe 🧡
عمل ممتاز 🎉🎉🎉
Thank you 🍺🍺🍺
😍😍😍
🧡💚💛 Thank you 🤜💥🤛
👍👍👍
🤜💥🤛
Que tipos de cañuelas usas de q numero?.
I have 4 sizes from 1/8" to 3/4" and I use them all 👍
what does a project like this cost, i really have some trouble making a price for people... thx
do you work by hour or you agree a fix price?
I always give a fix price, this varies hugely depending on size and design complexity/intricacy 🍻
Jan, you seem always break glass with bare hands. No gloves.
Have you been working this way since the very beginning?
How many finger and pakm cuts have you got?
Over 27 years of practice but yes always now gloves, very few cuts, nothing to serious 😂🩷
How did you learn this craft?
My parents taught me 🧡💛💚
@@LightLeadedDesigns that's amazing! :)
