Y’all know I’m always trying to find a way to fix the inevitable nail break. Some methods featured on this channel are great for really quick fixes, others were so craptastic I didn’t even bother making a video for them, but some were magical “what-if” moments.
But I was on a mission to find a particular solution and put it to the test. - plus a few of you guys kept mentioning how well it works. I snagged the very last one off the shelf in the clutch! So in this video I’m showing you guys my first impression with using a silk wrap on natural and fake nails. Is it Nailtastic or Craptastic? Let’s get started to find out. Enjoy!

Silk wrap is no joke. It works. I added it to almost all of my long natural nails for strength and accidentally hitting my nails against something!! I love it!!

This is the only way I have been doing my nails for the past 3 yrs after I found Nai'l it you tube channel. The only thing I would recommend to is instead of glue layers do 2 to 3 layers of Fiberglass resin, shape file follow by Resin activator. It will seal the whole thing better! By the way you have lovely,,, lovely,,,, nails!! Omggg to die for
I use resin too instead of nail glue. Same chemical family (acrylates) but easier to apply!
Base gel as well inatead of glue

Yeah, there's some really good brush on glue at Dollar General (by Kiss).
Well she didn't know what she was doing. If so she wouldn't have short nails now. Laziness.
i know this might be weird, but i used a teabag as a silk wrap and it worked just as well :)
I use 2 layers of silk wrap for EXTRA strength!!!
Suggestion: Polish the underside of the nails so they all look the same whether natural or falsie where silk wrap shows through.

Still coming back to this very useful video!! My ring finger nail just refuses to grow out. It has now broken not once but twice😩😩. I'm finally going to go out and get me some silk wraps and hopefully find some relief!

Excellent example of glue (vs. resin) on a silk wrap. Unlike nail glue, resin will burn a thin nail bed once the activator is applied. This is because of the chemicals in the activator. Nail glue is the safest and cheapest way to go. Thanks for a great video!! 👍👍👍😎😎😎

Will using this silk wrap without resin, make natural long nails thin or brittle? I love KISS NAIL DRESS STRIPS, but difficult to find - now. Thinning of my long nails makes me hesitant to use the silk wrap. Thanks for your comment.
I use resin WITHOUT the activator and it works and dries just fine. Why does one need activator?

I’ve heard the other way around that resin is safer. But thanks for the info! Can’t find resin anywhere so I’ll better just use a brush-on glue! ☺️

How long will your nails last after using glue. Will they heal themselves or do you have to chop them and grow them again?

My nails are long and natural. Altho the silk wrap gives them (I hate to put it this way), the artificial strength, will it thin your natural long nails or make them brittle?
Also, I used a foil, self stick nail cover, that comes in colors and designs, instead of polish (from Walgreens, by Walgreens or KISS NAIL DRESS). They require no over glue, only a coat of clear to seal the edges, but no problems without the clear coat. Real nails require a coat of clear as the 1st coat to prevent nails from turning yellow. Not these sized, peel off nail coats. They are excellent! Didn't damage the nail or nail bed, stayed put thru 3 shampoos and washing dishes. Unfortunately, Walgreens stopped selling them, but they gotta be sold SOMEwhere. So, back to my original question - will the silk wraps, with the glue cover make long, natural nails thin or brittle? Thanks for your upload! It was perfect.
Oh also I know I'm a little late to the party but how do you keep your polish nearly flawless for 2 weeks? My max is 1 week!

So... it acts like fiberglass! Which is where you layer a resin and a mesh together, making it super strong. Cool!

I would like to see the removal for the fake nail. The natural nail is basically caked in nail glue. It's a quicker alternative but doesn't seem to be any healthier than acrylic.

Use KISS brush on nail glue is easier. Brush glue on like clear nail polish.

Hey Joelle, thanks for the love! I really like the look of oval/round nails but coffin-shape is a close second. As far as breakage/nail damage goes, I've had little to no damage at all when my nails are round/oval, no matter the length! 💕
