- What is up all you Pokémon maniacs out there! PikiPikaPapa is here looking at EVERY Scarlet & Violet Set so far while asking the question are we looking at an EPIC Start Or Colossal FAIL? Now the reality is it's way too early to try and come up with a difinative decision but that doesn't mean we shouldn't look at every Scarlet & Violet Set and ask the question! For this video we will look at Top 20 Singles card prices for every Scarlet & Violet set and see how they've been moving since launch. While I'll form my own opinion now the ball is in your court... Lets compare the first year of Sword and Shield with the first year Scarlett and violett. Not quit a competition, Sword and Shild sucked Till alt Arts. And now, we got "alt Arts" in every set. This is the best start of an era, we got so far.

With each new set release I always hear people complaining. But this is easily the greatest start to any era of Pokémon ever.

Yeah I completely agree I did a whole video on the start of S&V vs the start of SW&SH and there is no comparison!! How the back half looks is yet to be seen but it’s been a hot start for sure!!
To start Scarlet & Violet I feel is way stronger then the start of Sword and Shield era.
Scarlet & Violet base > Sword & Shield base
Paldea Evolved > Rebel Clash
Obsidian Flames > Darkness Ablaze
151 > Champions Path
Paradox Rift > Vivid Voltage
Paldean Fates > Shining Fates
This is where Scarlet & Violet has its work cut out for it. How can any of the coming S&V sets compete with the end of Sword & Shield?
Battle Styles > Temporal Forces
Chilling Reign > Twilight Masquerade
Evolving Skies > Shrouded fable.
Idk about that battle styles…. Temporal is wayyyy underrated… I think it’s better than battle styles 🤢

Temporal Forces is a dark horse. Much better than Battle Styles.

Such a cool breakdown!! I LOVE THIS!!! I agree 100%, the start was absolute FIRE... It's hard to go from start to finish with nothing but epicness so maybe we are hitting a little bit of a soft spot before we finish with a big bang!! Great comment my friend, I love it!!
I’m a Gen 1 guy who got back into collecting in 2022. I think SV is highly underrated and SwSh is taking off now that it’s out of print, but I remember people saying SwSh was trash and they couldn’t wait for SV. I think part of this hobby is “absence makes the heart grow fonder.”
Ironically Pardox Rift was the first main series set that I was excited about and Iron Valiant is one of my favorite cards so far in SV. Completely agreed on Temporal though and I think the Paldean Fates Charizard buried Obsidian Flames. Pokémon always seems to cannibalize a little bit between overlapping chase cards and announcement/release schedules.

Awesome comment and analysis man!! I totally agree, SW&SH is stealing all the thunder now but S&V will have it’s time in the sun. Now is the time to take advantage of all the awesomeness before the rest of the market catches on!!
Someone just bought out raging bolt on tcgplayer. It’s worth over 100 bucks now. Can’t wait for these sets to settle down

Great call on Temporal Forces! I’ve purchased more Temporal Forces booster boxes than any other set since I started collecting again, 3 years ago. Fun set to open too… lots of different hits and solid art.
I really like a lot of the art and to your point what a fun set to open!! I just snagged another case of BBS to stash away!! Have an epic one my friend!!
Paldea Evolved, Paldean Fates and Paradox Rift have been AMAZING as far as artwork. We all know 151 is a fan favorite forever immediately, I think people might be sleeping on Paradox Rift though.
I think this is a really good call out!! Heck most of S&V has some epic artwork so you’re right. Might be some sleeping giants right in front of us!!
S&V is prob my fav era tbh lol possible golden age of artworks?

It is my fave start of an era, we will see what other next set released.
It's just been sittign on the sidelines while SW&SH gets all the love but it's been dropping some amazing art set after set. Will be interesting to see where it all ends up!! Awesome comment!!
I've been picking up Paldea Evolved 3 pack blisters ever since it came out. I now have 30 sealed and a few ETBs. Such a great set. I also mastered CZ, not sure what to do with it? Hold it? Sell as singles? Sell as a whole?

Love the PE hoarding and that CZ Master has gotta be soooo sick!!! It would be hard for me to sell that bad boy but if you have some that are 10 worthy having some of them graded would drive the value of it up for sure!! Awesome collecting/investing here, I love it!!

Epic Start... for 100% sure! And man, thanks for sharing all this data. I know how much work goes into making and maintaining all these sheets (I work with data) so just wanted to say I appreciate all the hours of unseen work that goes into making these videos. Also, just a thought, with all of this data you are collecting, you could probably monetize it even more by making them downloadable on a Patreon or a Buy Me a Coffee page. I do something similar, although I don't charge (but leave the option open for donations). 🤑🤑
Appreciate the call out and the recognition on the work. I've been thinking for a long time on what to do with my ever growing collection of Pokemon data. I started to look at the Patreon route but it wasn't quite as user friendly as I'd hoped. I can totally check out the Buy me a coffee area as that's new to me!! Let’s talk about low end cards to pull from S&V cards with hard grade rates and how those gem mint cards fetch crazy amounts!! Could the psa 9 cards follow in years to come… might be a good time to get a psa 10 or at the very least stack some psa 9.
Even a psa 9 karp is $150 and it’s a high quantity grader in a 9. Some of these other 9’s are $50 right now but could they be the next $150? Big gains if bought at the right time.
Don’t even get me started on the card sets.. take a look at gem mint rates on the obsidian flame bird cards.. they are on the move for price..

Oddly we have a chi-yu staff card? And the normal card is on the move from 70ish to $125 which is also a hard grader.

Love that Penny card!! My wife’s in love with the shiny Pikachu so I can see one of those in a PSA 10 holder making it’s way under the Christmas tree 😂
I’m a little surprised people aren’t high on Twilight Masquerade. Sure the Ogerpons aren’t amazing, but the Eevee, Carmine, Kieran, Perrin + Growlithe, Chansey, and Greninja are all beautiful cards.
That Graninja hits HARD I must admit!! If the Gem Rates for TM are as low as PE we could easily see it at a Magikarp levels. If 10’s are a dime a dozen the price will stay under control but the epicness will remain!! I also like the Chancey and the Eevee!! Will be interesting to see where the set lands!! Iron crow is the top sir I’m glad I pulled it, but the raging bolt is still being slept on I believe they will settle with almost no price difference

I am a pretty big fan of the scarlet & violet alt arts, Raging bolt ex, Gouging fire EX, Walking wake Ex, Roaring moon EX and Iron Valiant ex, if these pull rates are correct etc, then those cards has to move up over the next years imo
Agreed, low pull rates and awesome art is usually a recipe for string growth!! Once we get some big names in SIR and IR form this era is going to POP!!

I like to see the data on SV. It won’t compare to the rise of SWSH but I like to see SV sets.
It’s going to be fun to have these data sets moving forward!! Towards the end of S&V we will be able to do some comparisons to the end of SW&SH and that will be EPIC!!

Yeah SW&SH is getting all the love but S&V is quietly dropping some amazing art and it will def have it's day in the sun!! Appreciate the support my friend!!
This isn't particular to this video or one you've done I think. But I've been looking at SWSH blister promos and a video on the artwork and difficulty to grade them would be cool. They don't become much unless they are a 10. But I've seen in the past with black and white mainly, but also xy, some of the promos are crazy expensive. The eeveelutions are the ones I tend to lean at.

ngl i was hoping it would pick it up after paldean fates. def feel like twilight masquerade and shrouded fable will be a step down. hopefully the dragon pikachu tera thing will be another boost

For temporal where you’ve written nerfed, doesn’t a nerfed set mean that pull rates are easy and not difficult?
I really like Temporal too by the way, I think there’s a good 5-6 ex cards including the ones you displayed where the art work is so cool. Of the normal run sets that are our currently from SV my 3 that I’ll be investing in big are Base, Paldea evolved and Tenporal - love your vids!

I've always thought of and used Nerfed as something going from easy to hard or from overpowered to less powerful.. Yes I'm a old school World of Warcraft guy LOL So going from good/overpowered pull rates to less, maybe it applies? IDK to be honest!!
Scarlet violet is a future rocket ship waiting to take off. SWSH was entirely carried by 2021-2023, Scarlet Violet is going to have alt arts in every single set. People will one day realize how insane that is and how deep all the sets are. and honestly if it gives iconic pokemon iconic alt arts, such as Umbreon, Charizard, Pikachu, lugia, rayquaza, etc then I believe it will destroy SWSH as a whole

You're making a GREAT call out here!!! Cases in that price range are like shooting fish in a barrel... As long as you've got a few years (which you should) to hold them you will be justly rewarded!! S&V has some great art and it will have it's time to shine after the SW&SH frenzy dies down a bit... Awesome comment my friend!!
How investable SV is a different question, but for me the sets have just not been fun to open (speaking of pullrates). Keep it SEALED!
I disagree, if we are talking pull rates, SV has greater pulls rates than chilling pain, evolving cries and fusion strike out.

These sets absolutely DEMOLISH the sword and shield era! Alt arts didn’t start until Battle Styles when we get SIRs in freaking Base Set! Not to mention terra full arts and ILLUSTRATION RARES. The only thing the sword and shield era have up on scarlet violet is texturized trainer and Galarian galleries.
I agree, I did a video on S&V vs SW&SH through Paradox Rift and S&V was the hands down winner. Now we just have to wait and see what the back half brings!! Should be awesome to watch!!
