Don't forget it's not the only pika clone to win a tournament. Togedemaru has it too. And unlike Pachirisu, it was a tournament with restricted legendaries, same footing as Groudon, Kyogre, Tapus, Xerneas, Rayquaza, etc.

@@onebear6504 basically, the good pika clones are Pecharisu (pikachu but great move pool), Emolga (its just straight up tiny zapdos, but has never had the opportunity to really use that), Togademaru (pikachu but tank), and Pawmot (revival blessing + leppa berry on a tiny Iron Hands that cant learn earthquake)

Raichu should be buffed to final starter evolution base stat total. Both pichu and pikachu fit stater stat totals, and pikachu has been treated as a starter. Raichu not having 530 bst is honestly a robbery

@@ldmtag in order to do 4 stages alot of things about the game would have to change...like in a 4 form pokemon you'd expect 3rd form stats to have between normal second stage and 3rd stage stats....imagine a bulky basically 2.5 stats pokemon with eviolite....that'd be crazy
love this vid, not only how it’s edited and paced, but the talking feels way more live! like less “forced” or “scripted”idk how to say it, but in older videos the talking was very fast in a straight line, to the point where it felt a bit hard to follow, and here are more nuances and variables in the voice, i think it’s nice

This editing was really really good. Like every frame used some kind of pokemon related screen or art. Some of it even reminded me of the Pokemon books I used to read. Loved it.
It's also worth noting that Regieleki's fast Electroweb is less valuable now that booster Flutter Mane and Iron Bundle have an even faster Icy Wind

I am glad you mentioned that it is confusing to make a list that's like 5 pokemon then honorable mentions then top 3 but honestly the density of your content is so high especially for someone like me who doesn't play Pokemon competitively and only really play it whenever I see a let's play or like a cool pokemon that I want to catch. You make Pokemon extremely accessible for people like me and given your excellent success on TH-cam I hope you continue doing the same. Cheers!
I like it because its easy to find the top 3 based on history and results, but you need an area where you can just talk about cool pokemon regardless of performance.
To make things simpler I think you should refer to them as:
5 Runners up
4 Honorable mentions
Top 3
2 French Hen.
And a Partridge in a Pear Tree!
Or just do the honorable mentions first cause they didn’t make the main list then continue with the list

I absolutely love these videos! It's a cool blend of pokemon competitive history, tactics, and just learning about some of our favorite pokemon! I say do one for every type, man. I will watch EVERY one.
These videos seem like you just got out of bed, realized you have a assignment due 3 hours ago and are desperately rushing to get it out, I love it

it takes alot of effort to make it feel like you didnt put in alot of effort but still present things so cleanly. wolfys personality always keeps me comming back even tho i dont care for vgc much.
Well Wolfey, one way to explain what is happening with the video is to number all the entrants, not just the top three. That makes a clear transition between the numbered entries and the honorable mentions.
Dragon type list is gonna be insane I feel. So much discussion has to be about restricted vs non-restricted format

I find it funny how the wolfey's half right joke works also because the half that is left in the image is wolfey's left side but it's his side on the viewer's right side, so the joke is also half right.
I have a suggestion for the format. You could call the “main list” the hall of fame, which might make the honorable mentions more understandable while still leaving space for the top 3 and best, AND it harkens to beating the in-game Pokémon champion.
I know it hasn't been out long, but Miraidon should have gotten a mention of some kind. It's already won a major tournament in that time.

Its a very strong contender for most powerful Pokémon of all time in singles so it would be quite funny if it didn't see any success in VGC.

Ive come to really like Raichu for this season. Raging Bolt and Miraidon are common enough where you can usually get some solid match ups. Fakeout pressure and nuzzle is generally helpful too.
How did Lanturn not get an honorable mention? Water/electric typing is crazy good and it’s the only evolution line with it.

This was a fun list, I wasn’t expecting Togedemaru at all - it’s always nice to see ordinary not-insane Pokémon get some press! As for what type you do next, I would love to see your take on Psychic: Psychic is my favorite type, and as disheartening as it’s been to see it lose its mystique I’m sure there’s still some nasty power there somewhere! Plus, outside of Indeedee-Hat I don’t really have a strong idea of what’d be on there.

Thunderous is good but I feel like it’s still a no, but only because there are other great electric types that can do great in other situations, like regieleki under electric terrain gets rising voltage and when used right is absolutely op since it is super fast, the electric beast boost wire mon (i forgot it’s name) also has one of the highest sp atk stats and one of the best abilities, so I would say there are many other options for best but thunderous is still good, it just goes to show why it’s not in Ubers, they aren’t as op as some other electric pokemon

Pachirisu is godawful, but it was in the right place at the right time
So what set did you use the most? My favorite was Sableye using a stall set Willl o wisp, Fake out, Foul play, Encore with mega stone (on offensive team)

I think an easier way to discuss everything could've been a top 10 list instead of main list, honorable mentions, and top 3. You don't always have to do 10 for each type, but if there were 10 outstanding mons, they're the top 10. (:
Also side note, I LOVE Raichu. I spammed how much I loved it on Nugget Bridge back in 2014 because of its speed stat going higher than Garchomp and using charm to neuter its earthquake.

Swap Zapdos and Tapu Koko. Zapdos's analysis was "wow, this Pokemon was either massively important or just really good until the most recent generation" and Tapu Koko's is "wow, this Pokemon was really good in its debut generation, then did absolutely nothing."

Love this series, Wolfe! Outside of Incineroar memes, a suggestion for your concern re: how you announce the "top 3 / base 5 / honorable mentions".
Your initial 5 should be the "Honorable Mentions" - after all, they're just short of the podium positions and are all quite credible picks.
You keep the top 3 as it is.
You change your current "Honorable Mentions" into "Considerations" or "Honorable Considerations" - 3 pokemon that could fight/qualify for the remaining 2 slots in a hypothetical top 10.
You could also obviously just phrase this as a top 10-ish list. You then have your "Podium finishes", "Runners up", and the "Ones that round out the top 10, pick any 2 of 3".
Hopefully these options help - Obviously if you're doing 12, top 12 can still work.

Mega manectrik is what i call an ambush pokemon. It's always coming in and put, and while it's not inherently a huge threat, the fact that you are never 100% sure when it's coming out or what it's doing is the problem.
Ngl when you said people probably think about pikachu, raichu and zapdos for electric, I IMMEDIATELY thought of Thunderous because of how oppressive and annoying he was in the past meta 😂
