Matt, that is one of the most badass cars you've ever put on here... probably my favorite. That thing just drags its massive nuts around wherever it goes. Bad fucking ride, dude.
Car Consumer they will be no talking to CHUMPS FANS Lik talking to a Ford fan so I'll leave it at that buddy. Have a good week brother. it is what it is jus hope we don't end up in war over the decision u made!
Is the rear setup similar to something like the old Greenwood or Guldstrand 5-links? Just curious because I know that's always been the major gripe about the stock suspension is the lack of toe-control. I have an '80 and I'm looking forward to these new setups coming out.
this one isn't too bad, there is a video of an e36 racecar that has a sequential with straight cuts and it was close to peaking the mic by the time it got to 5th
Wayland C Well, we all know what I meant, I'm talking about average sports cars and supercars that can be seen on the road everyday.. sad to write these words lol
my dad has a 76 stingray... small block but still a lot of fun to drive with the T-Top off.. that IRS sounds like a nice gift for him once it hits market.. Ill be checking out Detroit Speed in the near future.. Great vid Matt! this one hits close to home :)
Just picked up 72 and 69 conv...and yes going with the Dse package on both I have been waiting for great parts to be made for these C3 and know we got them. Thanks DSE
@TheSmokingTire, as far as squeaks and rattles go, there's no way you could hear them over the exhaust anyway. And there's NO reason to dial back that cacophony of wonderfulness. Keep up the great vids!
It's the bare minimum nowadays. We're starting to see 335's on all four corners if they can find suppliers with the right sizing. Working on a squared 315 setup for the Firebird for auto-x duty.
You have NO social credibility rating. We can see you have no education, so we don't listen to anything you say. The parts are branded and you can't read they're marked by the inventor.
I love the plaque around the shift, HP: A LOT | TQ: A WHOLE LOT. I could see this car being shipped over seas & while driving it around Asia or Europe, the windows are rolled down and the theme song for Team America is just blasting out of the speakers. Of course, you'd have to put speakers and a sound system in it.
Oh Matt, I can't believe you thought the flares were done out of metal- I had such a chuckle because you own a 'Vette and you would also know they are ALL fiberglass. That would be quiet an effort attaching those metal flares to the plastic body! LOL!!! Sick car, I love DS- have followed them for 6 years or so 'cause I've got mates that worked in the design and engineering dept at Holden, which gave an insight to their own work and designs they put out having learnt and sharpened their skill set at Chev's engineering dept
Hey Matt,I've been watching you for years and have been subbed for quite a while. I always LIKE, but never get around to commenting here very often... just had to on this one. As many great cars as you drive, I really love it when you get into one like this and it makes you light up like a kid at Christmas! So cool to see a true car guy get excited about a car. This '72 sounds great and you've gotta listen to this "sumbitch" with proper headphones to truly enjoy it. Take care brother and keep doin' what you do!
I saw this at the Good Guys event in Charlotte back in October Saturday the 22nd...he was tearing up the autoX course! ha, Matt here in North Cackalackey. :Thumbs up:
Beautiful car, but can't help but think how much COOLER it would be if were built more along the lines of a Singer Porsche-All of the performance with a little more of a vintage flavor (period style wheels, etc...)
Shitty suspension and engine? C3s were introduced over FIFTY years ago in 1968, and the chassis dates back to 1963. Depending on how you optioned them up they were some of the fastest cars in the world at the time. Slicks & open headers would put a ZL1 or an L88 in to the 10's pretty easily, again, over 50 years ago. We're JUST reaching a point where a handful of cars can do that today. Fuel injection (that was back in '57), independent suspension in '63, 4 wheel discs in '65. That's like saying a Spitfire or a P-51 is "shitty." By the way its Vettes (not vett's) and cars (not car's). Pay attention in school.
one of the rare times you're pulling back into the lot and I'm like what? it's over already! you need to drive that car again and wring it out, seems like the car was just getting warmed up.
It'd be a dream come true to have a full dse suspension on my chevelle and Camaro....Matt!! I want you to do a one take on my chevelle when it's done. 🙏🏼
I would like to add something to my last comment. When I said that I could build one of these for a lot less than Detroit Speed, I was not implying that this is not a great build or that I could do so with all the modern tech. that Detroit Speed has used on this car. I would take a budget approach and use only restorable vintage parts and do it in a more traditional manner. This is why I could do it cheaper. I think that what they have built here is brilliant and if I had the funds would order one "my way" tomorrow! They do exceptional work and I would like to recommend a new video using this car. Please, Please, Please put Stacy Tucker in an old racing suit. Place a worn out baseball hat on her backwards. Smear some grease on her face, drape her hair in her eye's so she has to blow it out of the way every now and then and have her drive this car like she is mad at it!! LOL...This will be the best video on youtube!! Everyone out there that thinks Stacy should do this give Detroit Speed a shout out in the comments section. Stacy, you are a gem!
Hey Matt what do you think of this one Vs that Red Corvette you guys drove in Warner Springs for /DRIVE that was Family built? That thing was gorgeous.
The Hobaugh car is still running a mostly stock rear suspension setup. This car's running a much better setup, more like the stuff found under the rear of the IMSA Greenwood widebody cars.
Watch out for deer in that part of North Carolina. I have friends there and they say they're out all time of the day during this time of year. Oh and sick car!
You made antisocial humans. Humans being part of a social group won't ever happen again. You can't build any solid foundations on antisocial humans. This car causes the owners to talk about the car for the rest of their lives. That's all it does. You have to explain to the human idiots what you've done with your life and why you did something. STAY AWAY FROM OLD CARS because its IMPOSSIBLE to unfamous a car and make people listen to your explaining talk.
What would it take for them to let you take one of their Camaros out to your twisty roads? Kyle's '70 might still be competing but, Stacy's '69 might be available.
Matt, that is one of the most badass cars you've ever put on here... probably my favorite. That thing just drags its massive nuts around wherever it goes. Bad fucking ride, dude.
What a TREMENDOUS and GREAT car for a HUGE and GREAT day, damn it feels good to be an American.
Car Consumer so other words ur happy CHUMP "trump" won
ramon sanchez You need the word "You're" and indeed I am so is the majority of America.
Car Consumer nothing I can say will change who the president is but I just hope ur car don't run the way he does buddy!
ramon sanchez If it (running) got him to the white house, I don't want it running no other way.
Car Consumer they will be no talking to CHUMPS FANS Lik talking to a Ford fan so I'll leave it at that buddy. Have a good week brother. it is what it is jus hope we don't end up in war over the decision u made!
1k plus likes, 11 dislikes
Total win.. That car is a total fucking win!
This company has a great reputation too, nice to see them getting a small spotlight for a crowd that normally might have not heard of them.
The C3 is the most beautiful Corvette of them all. Especially with the later rear bumper and a rack for the targa roof.
Michi Scholl I was with you until you added a rack. The only rack I want isn't on a car
Love my rack 😄
i love the plaque in the center console
HP : A lot
TQ : A whole lot
i love those little touches
My fav Corvette, C3. Just drips badass.
The most beautiful Corvettes 68-72. C4 to C8 cannot keep away from its timeless design.
That gearing must be tons of fun with that kind of power in something that handles so well. Would rather this than a 200mph top speed.
True. Who really has enough room to go 180+ anyways?
i'd take it geared for 160 over 120, it would be close to screaming if you ever took it on the highway
Just needs a 5 speed and it'd be solid for highway use. But this isn't a daily driver regardless, for a weekend toy it's perfect.
We drove this car in the Cars 'N Cones event which is like the drag week of autocrossing. We can confirm, she screams on the highway.
Is the rear setup similar to something like the old Greenwood or Guldstrand 5-links? Just curious because I know that's always been the major gripe about the stock suspension is the lack of toe-control. I have an '80 and I'm looking forward to these new setups coming out.
this is one of the most badass car I have seen in a long ass time
Love the whine from the trans, wish all manuals sounded like that!
this one isn't too bad, there is a video of an e36 racecar that has a sequential with straight cuts and it was close to peaking the mic by the time it got to 5th
Klasse Act or is it the gear driven timing set?
Wayne S. its the straight cut gearbox that makes the sound, also known as a dogbox.
God those down shifts are fuckin brutal
my favorite part about the car is the maniacal giggles it gives Matt. you're never at a loss for words, but this car was cracking you up!
Those down shifts 🔥
Cliche incoming: They don't build em like this anymore! That car looks amazing, especially with those wide-body fender flares!
Well...they DO build 'em like this. But it's REALLY expensive :D
Wayland C Well, we all know what I meant, I'm talking about average sports cars and supercars that can be seen on the road everyday.. sad to write these words lol
Wow! Wow! That Corvette is sweet. It's the complete package. Matt wants this car. I can see it in his eyes.
I instantly grew a handlebar mustache the moment you turned it over. Fuckin' sweet car.
my dad has a 76 stingray... small block but still a lot of fun to drive with the T-Top off.. that IRS sounds like a nice gift for him once it hits market.. Ill be checking out Detroit Speed in the near future.. Great vid Matt! this one hits close to home :)
That car is my dream. My stock c3 drives like a boat. I need to get that suspension kit asap.
OMG, Matt's laughter in this video made my day!
The amount of content you are putting up lately is amazing! Thank you for all the hard work Matt!
The LS3 sounds unreal in this corvette
Side pipes :D
Doesn't even SOUND like an LS, sounds like bruce mclaren's M8 racecar from the can am races, it really sounds like 8+ liters!
Just picked up 72 and 69 conv...and yes going with the Dse package on both I have been waiting for great parts to be made for these C3 and know we got them. Thanks DSE
Those lines, timeless, iconic. I could stare at it all day.
@TheSmokingTire, as far as squeaks and rattles go, there's no way you could hear them over the exhaust anyway. And there's NO reason to dial back that cacophony of wonderfulness. Keep up the great vids!
315's in the front
Jeez
CJAE Y autoX American style lol
CJAE Y You can do the same on a C4 no problem. Some guys even run 335's no problem. no modification needed.
That's how Americans do 'Handling'. Pure grip.
no replacement for dis.. contact patch
It's the bare minimum nowadays. We're starting to see 335's on all four corners if they can find suppliers with the right sizing.
Working on a squared 315 setup for the Firebird for auto-x duty.
Dude I watched this TWICE...and will be back for More!
I absolutely love the interior from the 70's era. I'm not sure why.
Garrett Johnsen
I think because of its simple functionality with the coziness to it in 70s/80s interiors
The C3 hot rod is great old school muscle. You feel every bump.
i like the change of scenery
It looks (and sounds) like Detroit Speed and Engineering is doing their part in *Making America Great Again*. >:)
I love C3 vetts. And this is a particularly lovable one!
detroit speed one of the best companies out there
Damn, that sound is nuts! What an awesome build!
T-top stingray...so many memory’s of some truly GREAT times! Another car I should've never sold.
Love the classic hot rod sound this thing makes. Can't get enough of that sound...
Matt jus having fun and slappin gearz....what a life BROTHER!!!
I drove one comp 'Vette having spent most of my driving life in sports cars. It was a wild afternoon.
Favorite video so far, Matt! Especially since it's from Mooresville, NC! That car is an absolute monster!
those fender flares looks amazing, not the riveted shit you see more often
You're probably thinking of Rocket bunny lol. Some does look good but I agree. You see too many that look trash
You have NO social credibility rating. We can see you have no education, so we don't listen to anything you say. The parts are branded and you can't read they're marked by the inventor.
Imad S I’m so sick of that cheap ass look
Some looks good, honestly.

Awsome onetake!! I love c3's. I have an 81 i plan on modding for autocross as well, i still need a lot of time and money..but i'll get there

Why is the steering moved to left???..... just for clearence under the hood?
Sounds brutal! Reminds me of the Greenwood racing corvettes
the downshifts are spectacular
Looks like your friend gets on the chew pretty heavily there Matt. Such a chunky car - love it!
My god, that this is a beast.
Matt's maniac laugh is just, priceless! Nice video!

When you upgraded the shitty suspension and engine, C3 vett's are bad ass car's.
Shitty suspension and engine? C3s were introduced over FIFTY years ago in 1968, and the chassis dates back to 1963. I like the 3" flare on both front and back...looks more balanced than putting 4" on back and 3" on front
Very beautiful car, loved it as a kid!
This would be one hell of a "escape from the city" car.
It looked like it was fun and sounded like it was a blast to drive!
3:14 Realizes how frickin' sweet the car is.. drops the shades.
I love the look of the C3.
one of the rare times you're pulling back into the lot and I'm like what? it's over already! you need to drive that car again and wring it out, seems like the car was just getting warmed up.
Beast Mode ON.
this is probably one of my all time favorites, since playing gran turismo 1 lol.
That is awesome. My favourite is still the 68-69 body style.
It'd be a dream come true to have a full dse suspension on my chevelle and Camaro....Matt!! I want you to do a one take on my chevelle when it's done. 🙏🏼
the sound of that Vette is music to the ears :)
This is an awesome car love when TST does the oddballs and wild builds
I think I’m in love! 😍
What a beautiful car !
Matt imagine whipping it up the snake or Angeles crest highway she's a beast!
Why $200k? That's nuts. What are parts
The paintwork aside, that's one seriously cool car!
Are you kidding? The awesome period paint is one of my favorite parts.
Mattmorris Nope, am not. I think it's garish even though I know it's period.
I really wanted to hear this thing hitting redline omg such a tease
The thumbnail looks like it's from a videogame. I don't know why though.
Also, my favourite Corvette!
Because we have incredible photographers!
what is the transmission that is in this car?
It is a High Tower dogbox 4 speed
I would like to add something to my last comment. GearHeads Garage Brian Hobaugh's vette I believe, that thing is just amazing.
Boltronical I forgot the name, but I've seen it around town, its gorgeous.
The Hobaugh car is still running a mostly stock rear suspension setup. This car's running a much better setup, more like the stuff found under the rear of the IMSA Greenwood widebody cars.
Great job. Insane car
Want to see more of this vette's mods and customer cars.
Great episode. 👍
One take, all torque. C3 dream. :)
coming to australia anytime soon?
We've got a '71. Im ready to order parts!
Those downshifts are fucking nasty. Love it.
When he was shifting in the video it sounded exactly like I was watching days of thunder. That shit shifts minnnnnnnnttttt Friburger
DSE can make anything fast. Those boys rock.
0:51 Shifter base plate "HP: A LOT | TQ: A WHOLE LOT" lol
3:19 they both put their shades down pretty much at the same time.... hmmm..
Wow! Amazing build. A go fast car for sure!
Who cares if we cant hear you Matt!! THAT SOUND!! OMG!! :D
Wow, this is fantastic.
Watch out for deer in that part of North Carolina. I have friends there and they say they're out all time of the day during this time of year.
Oh and sick car!
Creaky or rattles? Shit, you'd never hear them :-) I fucking *love* that exhaust note.

The fuck
Matt did you purposely plan to One Take the MOST AMERICAN CAR EVER on the day our new president is elected?
Sn-95 Oh it's definitely not a coincidence.
357 Mag ....nah, Prius Prime!
357 Mag More like a prison bus...
What would it take for them to let you take one of their Camaros out to your twisty roads? Kyle's '70 might still be competing but, Stacy's '69 might be available.

Detroit Speed, Inc.
Stay tuned indeed, you tease. Just watched Kyle and Matt. And caught the tease about Stacy's car.
Detroit Speed, Inc.
Thanks for rolling the dice on Matt and his viewers. We won't let you down.
Matt is in a real life automobile fantasy camp. He's the Dave Grohl of car journalists.
As Thatguyinblue would say "smiles per gallon". Sounds awesome
I guy at my local AutoX club has one of these, not quite as built but still impressively fast.
dear god. so much freedom.
Holy shit that thing is amazing.
Has he ever driven a new edge??? I know they're not all that but it would be interesting to see. Someone link it if he has
