- Fast Response Marine and Coast Guard along various other agencies respond to a call of a vessel taking on water at an unknown location near Miami Beach. After some searching the boat is located at Government Cut (inlet) approximately 5 miles away from where they were originally reported to be. Capt. Chuck Hansen and emergency services descend on the boat and secure it before it sinks. The ailing vessel and crew are towed back and dewatered.

@@BOATSNAPS I've had a 100% volunteer organization since 1958 called Good Seamaritan Rescue... started in 1958 with a Boston Whaler. Towing is absolutely Free... If they give us a donation fine if they don't that's okay... it's not a 501 c 3 scam... absolutely 100% all volunteers... thanks for responding

i'm part of the "FSD" German:"Freiwilliger Seenotrettungsdienst" English: "Volunteer Sea Rescue Service" based here in Germany. There is no fee, if we tow boats or rescue people.
If they donate, it's OK or if the become a member it's even better ;-) We all use our own private boats for responding calls, and the german Police gives us a lot of freedom for boating (you never know if we're in a emergency respond... ;-) ) here at lake Constance. Here's a strict speedlimit and other regulations. Win-Win for both sides!

How fast your man get the rescue boat up to? Gut feeling and looks he is cooking along at an honest 65mph.
I think in 2012 it was time to sell and let go my unrestored death trap 1973 wrigjdt stinger (pretty sure i spelled it right) 17ft jet boat with original 455 Oldsmobile power. Sold it to a good friend, minus engine. We are both Oldsmobile car enthusiasts and drag racers so of course both were a fan of this water hot rod. I got the boat in, ummm gonna say 2006 from a high school buddy and car friend but not exactly an oldsmobile guy. He came to me for a bunch of used stock parts and cobbled together its original 455 and made her rip. We determined early the old berkeley jet drive was sporting a AA impeller and could support a bunch more horsepower. Ended up horsetrading a 1973 Nova SS for the jet boat on our way home from a trip to the lake in it. Ugly duckling had alot of potential. I had the thing no longer than 5 days when it got a relatively healthy 500 plus hp 455 olds from my 442 which already ran 11:80s at the track. Box stock aluminum heads and trw 9.5:1 slugs and a lumpy hyd flat tappet cam of custom design by me.

GPS was just getting big in 2007 when running into a lake resident with a stripped down classic mid 70s jet boat with an efi 502 chevy and an expensive for the time GPS. We raced. No doubt he was quicker with the droop snout berkely output and lighter weight but at speed we were locked within a boat length. He was as impressed as me with this old Olds powered rig which most non olds guys abandon that powerplant early on (big secret out...you MUST run the moroso flat bottom 10qt oil pan with trap doors and baffles...! Must! As in Mandatory)... We clocked in at a solid 80.5mph and repeated said run 5 times.
Might not sound like much to some of you but listen the old jet boats with 18in of freeboard on the sides, no freaking windshield, a throttle pedal shaped like a foot and classic 60s steering wheel cocked a solid 45 degrees holding to left under power...its at freaking scary.
Eventually came time to sell boat minus base engine but with all boat accessories to my good buddy in 2012 who spent a solid 5 years on a total restoration. He painted it my idea...heavy metallic red, pearl white, heavy metallic blue with a hint of waving flag and stars and stripes.
His first engine was much more mild but about 420hp worth good for 67mph. Boat seen the lake 3 times total. Then disaster struck...in 2017 my friends barn/garage suddenly caught fire and went up uncontrollably in 2 min tops...lost were several muscle cars, tractors and toys many classic car future projects. Too much to put a dollar figure on. The old jet boat literally melted and sagged. Even the rare polished offy tunnel ram intake i had sold to friend melted too on the boat.
Thank GOD my friemd and his gf got out of that firee in less than the 2 min it went uncontrollably up in flames.
As fate and a smart sense has it, insurance covered thr loss of the structure and replaced it with a modern 60x40 now fully in use as the ultimate shop. A timely promotion and substantial increase in pay at his job and many new project vehicles including 2 boats to pay homage to death trap which last was named Olds Glory.
