I moved to Latvia soon after this was made and my goodness me, yes Latvian snacks are SO good, and usually made with less artificial ingredients than other countries which is often why. I am now going to search for some of these yummy items.

finally somebody have presented to you the best part of Latvian snacks not the weirdest. You just needed to take some cup of tee to enjoy a full taste of these snacks and sweets.
Very cool to see Latvian snacks. my dad was born and grew up in Riga and came to Canada in his early 20ties . He passed away in 2001 and this helped bring back some good memories
Love Latvia. I hope I get to go there sometime and see what looks to be a beautiful country.

When Alex goes deep in explaining Latvian history and why most of these brans are new, but forgets the Soviet Union ocupation that lasted till 4th of May 1991. So that makes Latvia independent (again) for 29 years. Im not being salty here, loving that you remember the fackts you lerned with the last box, just adding some more so you are experts opening the 3rd Latvian box in the future. 😊

Wow! This video gave me actual goosebumps! I'm a latvian and I haven't even tried most of this box, that's so weird, but I guess we all enjoy different stuff and my own box would be completely different. I will go and find these snacks and try them out because of this. This is amazing what you do, guys. Specially at these times... lots of love.

Latvia is independent for 28 years, not over a hundred.:) It’s been part of soviet union in which independent business like these where not possible. That’s why all of these companies are so young. Unless it was a big company in soviet times owned by the government and then privatised during independence, there is no chance for a company to be older than 28 years:)
My mum told me about this as well cuz she is from Latvia but I thought it was 100 years cuz they celebrated a 100 years when I was there in Latvia in the summer last year.

Fausta M - you're wrong and here's why: Latvian Republic was founded in 1918 after Freedom war and it existed up to soviet occupation in 1940. During app. 20 years latvian people raised this country devastated in WW1 to a modern and successful country in 1940. Some of the companies, for example "Laima", was grounded well before WW1 so some companies in Latvia ar elder as the country. And btw - they have nothing to do with soviets. Laima's original name was "Theodor Rieghert".
Guys, the potato desert is real! I like to get it at the local store every now and then, but I usually call it... sweet potato (even though that's a vegetable, too, lmao), so the cashier wouldn't give me weird looks. :D
It's like this soft chocolate-y ball with coconut flakes, it would often have peanuts inside, but if you make it at home you can add raisins or marmalade.

Greetings from Latvija, and also yes our sweets are soooo delicious, like they all are so good I prefer them over foreign ones we have here, but they are also pretty expensive on daily basis, but if you treat yourself with them over time then it's such a pleasure. Laima, Selga, Skrīveru and many more of these Latvian factories are really good.

Really gouda as Alex says. Lol. What is a flapjack over there? In America a flapjack is a pancake. A breakfast food which you probably already know because you have been here before.
Haha 😂 we only found this out when we did a flapjack recipe. I never knew that was another word for pancake for you guys. Our flapjacks are a sweet treat consisting of oats and golden syrup and butter. Often people put fruit in but I prefer mine plain. So delicious 😋
