Sometimes you need a sledgehammer. My house was built in 1973, and all my cabinets are nailed to the wall. I'm demoing this weekend to install new ones.
@mhairihenderson7241 use a crow bar, flat bar, framing hammer. Sledgehammer makes too much of a mess and can damage the walls. They are heavy too, so more work. Save your energy.
@@BrentDarlingtonI’m preparing to remove original 1950’s birch cabinets from a house and I’m hoping and praying they don’t get destroyed, because I actually really like them and want to reuse them in a different space!! Advice appreciated!
Thanks, Bud. I was about to build an entire structure to support them while I remove them. I didn’t know you could do it in tiny sections. Yes, I am dumb. Have a good one🎉
whats the easiest way to remove cabinet where the sink is at with all the plumbing and is install of new cabinet easy or do many holes need to be drilled in back of it first?
Your video helped give me confidence to do my own project
This is a great how-to, thank you! Makes it much easier to get started seeing somebody do a quick job like that.
Glad it helped

I've ripped out lots of old built ins and didn't need a sledge but to eat his own. Have fun!
Sledgehammer is necessary for mine too. They are 50 years old and the screws are ruined

Nah, not dumb. That's why I made the video. Now you know!
Thanks for this video. I've always hated seeing good cabinets destroyed by those home improvement shows.
You and me both!
You make it look so easy. Good video 👍
A surprisingly clean kitchen!
Thanks, it's my house lol. I have had to rip out some gross ones over the years
@@BrentDarlington I got a faceful of mouse droppings from an upper cabinet demo recently...then found the deceased mouse!
@@guydesnoyers8417 Gross! Rural homes are usually the worst for mice
Just taught me how to make thousand dollars today. Thank you 🤙🏽
Happy to help!
Thanks for showing so clearly!
What was the saw you used to cut through the worktop?
Jig Saw
Thank you so much for this! Is there usually no glue or calking?
Usually just screws unless it's a really old house.
Thanks a lot for the video, that was helpful 👍🏻
Not gonna lie, the sledgehammer looks a lot more fun.
I watched this then removed an upper cabinet with a regular screwdriver in less than a half hour. My kitchen bid wants 16 hrs to demolish 15 cabinets!
It's pretty straight forward. I'm glad I could save you some money!
good job.
Super helpful, thank you!
You're welcome!
It was looking good. why did you dismantle it?
It was just a cheap builders kitchen. Falling apart, poor layout. Time to go.

No easy way. May have to cut it up to get it out. New cabinet will probably need holes. You'll also have to disconnect and reconnect plumbing.
Cheers great video mate.
Thanks 👍
27 LABATTS DEEP AFTER LIFTING IN THE BASEMENT GAINS CAVE AND BOUTTA DESTROY MY UGLY ASS KITCHEN, TY BRENT!
Why do all the guide videos have ovvious and accecable screws, thrre isnt a single visible screw in any cabinent in my house thats the issue lol
How old is the house?
*Well, our kitchen is from the 60s-70s, and some of the fronts/doors are glued into it. 😅* What do I do then?*
reciprocating saw, pry bars, large hammer is fine, you just don't need a sledge hammer lol
Reuse cabinets around washer dryer
Sounds good
I can’t find the screws on mine what doses it mean ??
If it's an old kitchen it may be built in and may have used nails. The nails may have been painted over
Never a sledge hammer, always do it the way you just showed. It’s safer, cleaner and probably quicker too.
It's just silly
Hoa about built in
Sure, why not..
What? Not all cabinets come out so easily
I hear ya
Am having to take my cabinets out since I rented my home to a friend and she came with roaches
nasty
Pandemic?
Yes.
