      If you have an hdmi 2.1 certified Denon, simply connect your consoles to one of the 3 or 4 hdmi 2.1 in ports on the Denon. Run main/zone 1 from the Denon to the TVs hdmi 2.1 port. Ensure the cable is an hdmi 2.1 cable and that your receiver is set to enhanced 8k mode in the settings to enable full 2.1 bandwidth.

    My apologies if this was already discussed in one of your videos, but I was wondering if you have noticed any added input lag when connecting the PS5 via the avr to the tv? I'm mainly concerned about if it's noticeable when playing fast-paced multiplayer games like Apex Legends etc.

    I know one of HDMI does work well with 4K@120fps, VRR, ALLM, HDR10+ and Dolby Vision... Now, I play on two consoles, PS5 and Series X. Would everything work also on 2.nd and 3.rd HDMI inputs, or are these two limited and I would need to reconnect cables when switching from one to second console?

      Port 1 and 2 are 60hz only and 3 and 4 are hdmi 2.1 for the fancy next gen stuff you’re looking for. If you don’t need to use a sound system and steal eARC off port 3, then you’re good. If you do, then you’ll need a cheap hdmi 2.1 splitter. I have 2 showcases on the channel.

    I have the Denon S760H and the Series X hooked up to a 7.1 atmos Klipsch system (the atmos klipsch are separate on top of the front speakers) anyway... the xbox audio settings has atmos or dts:x (HDMI) option but I wonder if running uncompressed 7.1 is better? If so can the AVR decode the audio from the xbox into DTS:X?

    • @qwazyd0gg
      @qwazyd0gg  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I personally always send either atmos or whatever supported digital signal I can from the source device rather than allowing the AVR to decode an uncompressed or PCM signal. I find it less susceptible to audio drifting and overal just more compatible.

    • @qwazyd0gg
      @qwazyd0gg  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes, everything will function as it would directly connected. The only thing I may be hesitant on is 4/k 120hz with Dolby vision; however, that’s only applicable on a small amount of TVs anyway and seldomly used. My only concern would be that may require a truly full 48gbps bandwidth hdmi 2.1 port and this amp only supports like 36gbps (or something similar, I just know it’s not full 48gbps). Since my TVs never did DV in 4K/120 I was unable to test for myself.

    But my brand new just setup 20 minute ago xbox series x is a NO to my denon 2300x receiver. Using stock xbox hdmi cable directly to reciever.
    Best i can do is 4k 60hz or 1080 120hz with my samsung Q7DR. What tv are you using?
    EDIT: I fixed it but I'll leave post up in case others need help. I had my cable ran to front media hdmi port. Apparently it's not the same as ones on rear. Once I pulled my 4k bluray player off and connected xbox to it, I now have hdr10 along with 4k 60z. I don't think my tv supports 4k 120hz, only 80 and 90 series of 2019. And even now, it's only on one tv port. Hdr has seem to turn game mode off on my tv. But at 4k 60hz with hdr, I'm content with that. Starfield will cap at 30 anyways.

      That means your variable refresh rate is working. If you’re stuck at 60hz, it sounds like 1 of a couple things…
      You need to enable 120hz in the specific titles you’re playing.
      You need an hdmi 2.1 cable rated for proper bandwidth.
      Your TV is not actually 120hz.

      Do you have 8k enhanced enabled in your receiver. Sounds like a bandwidth issue where it’s not receiving full signal to complete both tasks (vrr and 120hz). Could also be a cable issue between receiver and tv or console and receiver. Does the issue replicate if you bypass the receiver and go straight into the tv?

      @@qwazyd0gg Hi Thanks for your response,
      I got so annoyed by it I ended up cycling the 4k/8K video option. It was already set to 8k I changed to enhanced then standard and back to 8K and now works again. Really strange.
      Now I have an issue where my PC loses video when I switch HDMI input, only when running at 120hz. Not an issue unless you switch signals whilst gaming, when going back to PC it connects to display again but resets the resolution of the game and loses audio. Not sure if that's a GPU/PC issue or Receiver issue.

      Honestly it has to be just a setting somewhere in the receiver because my Series X and PS5 run directly into my 760 and pass VRR flawlessly to my TV. Maybe check in the settings that your 760 is set to “passthrough” so it’s not attempting any of its own processing that may disable VRR. Hello Andrew, I have issues with my Denon AVR-X1700H, I simply can not get 4k+120hz to work at the site time with my Xbox Series X. I have tried everything, I have the original hdmi cable that came with series x plugged in to 1 one of 3 "8k" inputs, number 3 which specifically says "game". From there I have a ultra high speed hdmi cable from the 8k output going in to my brand new Samsung S95B QD-Oled which has 4 hdmi 2.1 inputs with full 48 gb bandwidth. I tried doing this tip in your video and it still doesn't work, it was already set to enhanced 8k signal in the menue 🫤

    • @qwazyd0gg
      @qwazyd0gg  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That receiver certainly supports 4k/120hz, as does that TV. Have you tried the series x directly to the TV without going through the receiver to see if you can replicate the issue? I know the supplied hdmi cable with the series x has been giving people a lot of issues with the inability of getting 4k/120hz, or having severe bandwidth issues if they can even get it enabled. try going directly to the tv with your alternate cable and work backwards from there. Keep me posted.

      Technically speaking hdmi 2.0 is capable of 1440p/120hz, so it should not be a cable issue. I’ve seen this option absent from home theatre equipment in the past due to not being as in demand as 4K/120hz. As an example, the PS5 just got 1440p support late last year, and the Series S actually has 1440p/120hz disabled by Microsoft even though the console technically meets the specifications to run it. I’m curious if the Denons passthrough may not support it.
