Thank you so much for this video. I spent several hours trying to get all the settings correctly set up but I was missing several on my Marantz NR1607. Now I am gaming in glorious 4k/120hz with my TCL 646 and my NR1607 connected to my Xbox Series X. Your video walked me right through all the settings easily the first time. I powered off/on to be sure and up popped all the notifications on my screen and receiver display. 4k/120hz. HDR10 and Dolby Atmos. Perfect.

I was bummin' pretty hard about the sync delay with my Series X / LG C9 / Denon AVR / 5.1.2 set up. Followed this video (I admit I wasn't optimistic), and it worked perfectly...I had done everything, except didn't toggle eArc and pass through on the TV (I set it to use eArc as the source, but that wasn't complete enough)...that did the trick! Thanks for solving my 1%'er problems, Techno Dad!

Hi, sorry I know this is from 2 years ago but I am just about to pull the trigger on a Denon AVC-X6700H and I have same LG C9 as you.
I recently saw a video on Digital Foundry where they are discussing the Atmos delay on Xbox and how it was unbearable to use so they reverted to DD. Is this the same issue you had, and did following this setup completely remove the delay issues?
In the opinion of John at Digital Foundry it was a bug with the Xbox that hadn't been fixed, or do you think he's got the wrong settings applied on one or more devices?
Any clarification would be greatly appreciated as I too seem to be in the same 1%er club as you, and was wondering if waiting a while for newer AVR's with updated HDMI specs might be better, rather than using eARC workaround.
The DF video is on DF Clips 'playstation 5 Dolby Atmos support tested' (they mostly discuss the issues with Xbox though)

Oh my God it's insane that one can have all the right equipment and still not get the best output due to the wrong settings. Manufacturers need to work on making this plug and play. Way too complicated for most people to get all these setting right.
    Thanks for the video!

Thank you! You solved my issue of not being able to run my Xbox X on UHD@120HZ. It finally came down to be my LG sound bar not being HDMI 2.1 but 2.0. Most expensive soundbar they had the SL10YG. I have it all hooked up to an LG C3 it was soo frustrating seeing my Xbox tell me my C3 didn't have all the features it was supposed to. This video solved my issue, thanks again!

Any chance we can get an updated version for this video? Lets say with a C1 or C2 and the newest series X with the pass through option? I’m a bit lost now (just go myself a new 65” C2) and the options aren’t the same anymore. (Both the series X and the C2 have a pass through option for sound) And I’m assuming I should let them pass everything to my Denon receiver?)

THANK YOU! Been searching for this for years for my (new) Xbox Series X to LG C9 to Marantz 6011. The only issue was the lag, and the LG AV sync setting does nothing to help. Or how do you get uncompressed 5.1 channels from the Xbox, I’m trying to figure out how to do the same but for a PS5. Hey Techno Dad, I also have a OLED E9, running Series X cable straight to the tv via hdmi 1, then cable to my denon AVRX4400. No matter what I do I can’t get rid of the audio lag whenever you select bitstream then Dolby Atmos in the xbox setting. Even the Dolby digital has a lag. The only option that does not give lag is uncompressed and DTS. None of the lip sync settings will fix the lag, I know a lot of people have this exact same issue.

Hi. Great video. I did everything exactly as you instructed using the Xbox series X, LG CX and a Marantz 1171 8k receiver. Everything works, EXCEPT, there is a slight audio delay when playing Xbox with the audio set to Dolby atmos. Nothing seems to work, not even adjusting the audio sync delay on the AVR. It’s not awful, but it’s kind of annoying and noticeable in games like call of duty. I’m wondering if I’m just better off using uncompressed audio. Seems like a waste to not take advantage of Atmos. Any suggestions?

Happy new year and big thx for your videos... I have questions regarding digital sound out on LG TV. You said that Auto is for ARC and pass through is for eARC. I've a budget LG tv (UN7300) with a standard HDMI ARC but I've have both options (auto/pass through)
1/ what's the point of having pass through option since my tv don't support eARC?
2/ what's the difference between both options (I mean what auto really do and what pass through do)?
3/ I have the JBL Bar 5.1 (with real surround speakers which support PCM/LPCM, AC3 and DTS) I know that my tv don't support DTS as all LG TVs of 2020 and ARC pass through don't support LPCM so the only option I've is Dolby digital and am wondering if auto is the right choice rather than using passthrough!?
PS: I can detect a difference between both options; when auto is selected surround speakers are a bit louder when pass through is selected the front speakers (from soundbar) are a bit louder and surround speakers are less louder.
Plz help auto or passthrough which is the most accurate in my case and what's the difference between both.

Nak help desk setup guide says to connect XBOX via HDMI 2 port on the soundbar. That setup does NOT allow for 120HZ 4K UHD. I tried connecting the XBOX directly to the HDMI 1 port on the C9 (as instructed in your vid) and...suddenly the XBOX display settings confirmed 120HZ 4K UHD...and all green checkmarks. BUT...sound for some reason was weird...muffled, not working correctly. I've reached out to Nakamichi and just waiting for their reply. Figured I'd hit you up as well as trust your guidance. (just FYI: The Nakamichi soundbar only has an ARC port...not eARC) And as you know, the LG C9 has the eARC.

    Good vid and info.
Will say when I saw the $15/month fee to use the Dolby app with xbox series x (from xbox app store), no way do I want a high priced monthly subscription to use that app.
You think it would be included with xbox.
Anyway, I am still looking for ~500$ range 7.2 amp to work with my xbox series x at 120 hz 4k (48gbs). Tired of returning amps since they all seem to fail the xbox 120 hz test. Seems Denon is overpriced and its 8k is only 40gbs so their units still need to be better fixed to work with the hdmi 2.1 not to mention the hdmi 2.1a future update.
(Presently using - LG 75NANO90UNA display works good at 120 hz 4k but optical is only stereo out, amp is Onkyo NR 787 which is only 4k 60hz).

I think that monthly option is only for the headphones. I don’t pay a monthly fee for Atmos on the Xbox. All AVRs HDMI 2.1 are capped at 40 Gbps right now, so you’ll be waiting for a bit. I still connect Series X to my LG directly and then go eARC for the sound.

I saw the monthly subscription for Dolby and quit the download so I don't know. I may give it a try again latter. Probably will have to replace amp when I find one that works at 4k 120hz low price range.
Have watched your Pioneer VSX-LX505 Unboxing vid and I might consider that amp, but, waiting to see how you like it so far. Maybe the RZ50 it seems to do everything (iMax, Atmos surrounds 120hz 4k/8k) , but price is high and none have Auro 3D.

I have a C1 XSX and PS5 and Denon from 2018. No matter what I do I have to either connect to the TV if I want 120Hz but then I don't get an option for my 5.1 setup, just stereo (I don't have Atmos). I can connect to the AVR if I want to be able to have 5.1 output but then I don't get 120Hz. I opt for sound but I obviously wish I could have both. ARC doesn't seem to be sending a 5.1 signal on it's own and I can't find any setting in the LGC1 menus to turn it on.

Will this work for Onkyo or other brands? I have a TX-NR797, which is a 2019 9.1 chanel receiver with Atmos capabilities. I currently have 5.1, but will be installing 4 overheads for 5.1.4. My TV is a Sharp from 2019, but I plan on upgrading soon to a 4K tv with 120HZ and VRR. I also just got a Series X. My receiver only supports 4K at 60fps, not acceptable, so I'd like to use ARC to send bitrate to my receiver.

Good vid. Unfortunate that you don't really touch on the issue with a LOT of regular and 4k blurays that use DTS instead of Atmos as the C1 won't even pass the signal through to a receiver, so you're forced to either swap cables, use a switch, or a splitter if you don't want your xbox downconverting yoru DTS audio to 2ch PCM. LG still hasn't fixed that since they stopped paying for the DTS license with the C1 and on. And the fact that there aren't many budget-friendly HDMI 2.1 capable receivers on the market in '22 is just sad. :(

Ok so I know this question doesn't really relate to this video, but I feel like it's in the same vein enough and you seem to know what's up so here goes....I have a Xbox Series X and an LG C2. I don't have a soundbar or a receiver yet...my question is this...since the LG C2 "senses" the type of content I'm displaying will that feature be interfered with if I have a receiver in between the Series X and the TV?

    • @TechnoDad

    • @GetFitReedman
      @GetFitReedman 2 ปีที่แล้ว

@@TechnoDad basically yes that was my question. I've since gotten the answer. I first tried a VIZIO ELEVATE, but it's HDMI 2.0 so I lose 4k 120hz which is unacceptable so I wasn't able to use pass through. I hooked it up the other way and there was a noticeable lag between action and audio. So that is getting returned. I then got the Samsung Q990B and would you believe it's also HDMI 2.0!?! I was irritated because that info is hard to pull off the web or at least I had trouble and the dudes at Best Buy weren't any help....long story short I couldn't do pass through with it either BUT no audio lag so I'm happy overall.

I am planning to get a soundbar, I have a question regarding the setup:
Xbox Series X which runs at 4K/120Hz and Dolby Vision or HDR on LG Nanocell TV
I'd like to purchase a soundbar now. If I am not mistaken, ARC or eARC should do the trick
The connection would be like this
Xbox Series X -> LG Nanocell TV (HDMI 2.1 Port)
    and then
LG Nanocell TV -> Soundbar (z.B. LG SPD7Y) (HDMI 2.1 eArc)
In theory my TV should then still show the 4K/120Hz form the Xbox but the sound should come out of the soundbar (if set right in the TV)
    Am I correct?
