CW have one of the most innovative and interesting new issues in the whole watch industry. I see the brand moving upmarket, pretty much like Sinn did, and for a good reason. The quality of their products punches higher than their price bracket.
Great vid and I like the Watch beauty, lightweight and thin are perfect combinations. I won’t knock and scratch my watch when I wear it. The size could be a bit smaller like a 39 or 36.
Small critique, because I'm a huge fan of the Watchfinder channel and you as a presenter! The repeated cuts seem more jarring than helpful, but if they absolutely must stay in, turning them into title cards for the next topic would help them feel more a part of the video's overall flow. Either way, I'm always happy for more Andrew!
Agreed, the sharp change from softer and cooler blue hues into a BRIGHT red/orange on a single frame just makes ir that much more of a visual assault. Love the videos, but that cut makes me happier to just scroll down and listen instead of watch.
I think this is kind of part of his dry sense of humor. I took it as being intentionally choppy with the abrupt endings seemingly in the middle of a sound bite.
If it needs to be present, just keep a semi-transparent logo in the corner of the entire video. The current execution doesn't match Andrew's soothing voice!
Wish I could get the SW-300 in the steel case. The watch is not so big and heavy that Ti is really necessary, and I prefer the looks of the brighter metal - and the light blue dial is the one that appeals to me. I'll wait and see how the model line develops.
My exact thought. Nicer dials and a slightly thinner case would be great with the higher grade movement wrapped in steel. I don't like titanium in watches since they make a quality watch feel like plastic, being so light. I actually like a bit of heft on my wrist.
1:35 "lido" does not mean beach in italian. That would be "spiaggia" Lido describes a commercial activity at the edge of a river, pool, or the sea/ocean, so it can also be on grass on a river's edge.
I bought one. I own the C 63 and love it. As for it looking like another watch, well the same designer had his hands in both watches. As a owner of Omega, Tudor Sinn and others, CW has been a surprise, and a plesant one. So for the neysayers, say what you want, It wont influence me. Good work Andrew.
@8thlvlMage it's not exactly the sole consideration when judging a watch though is it, the style, colour, materials, price, brand all factor in. My point was I'm more inclined to overlook other things if the dial strikes me.
The watch hit me right away and I had to put an order. it said May 23 on the confirmation e-mail. Blue Titanium bracelet plus the rubber. It looks like a heck of a deal especially considering what IWC just did with their Genta integrated Ingineur release. The Twelve costs $10k less. Quality wise doesn’t look inferior in any way. Will see…
Yeah the IWC is really designed by genta, yet this wannabe is gimmickly quoting genta so people dont bash them as doing a homage, so you do your pick.... As to why its 10k less? its using a SW200 movement, that cost less than 150 bucks.
@@chillilover8345 Actually the Titanium CW Twelve has the COSC certified Sellita S300 which is a clone of ETA 2892 and is a very thin and robust movement with 56 hours of power reserve. This movement is better and more accurate than the one IWC has put in the Ingenieur which is a lower grade, not COSC certified ETA 2892 clone made by Valfleurier. This is the irony my friend. IWC are shoving down your throat a potentially inferior watch for 6 times the money. If you know your watches and you are smart, you won’t salivate on that piece which even doesn’t look completely like the original Genta design. Ripoff!
@@drnick40 Well, I am clearly talking about the S200 version. Even if its the S300 version, its still a Selitta. Also, dont be fooled that just because its COSC its better, it just means its regulated better with different conditions over time. Its like, do you want a well tuned Honda, or do you want an Aston Martin (an example). From a cost perspective, to be COSC that is say another 30-50CHF more, give or take. In terms of a build itself, you have an IWC in house (32111, 120 power reserve not what you claim ETA 2892) and an S300 prob around 200-250 CHF in bulk order. Also, whenever people pay for more, they are paying for brand recognition, IWC poured a lot of marketing for the brand power. IWC actually paid Genta to designed it, and this CW just quoted Genta to get clicks. Massive difference. Good idea to do your research before opening your mouth.
One seriously cool watch - after seeing it in person, I can't stop thinking about it (so thank you for that) 😄 I think my preferred combo would be glacial blue, but in titanium!
Waiting for videos of blue and grey to see how they really look. Hopefully they are darker than the renderings. They need to bring out a Ti black dial.
How different did the Ti and Steel look? Was the Ti noticeably darker in hue? More dull / less shiny? I usually prefer the steel look, but I really like the better movement and thinness of the Ti here.
With the easing of the covid related supply chain problems, I've already busted my watch budget for 2023 . . . by quite a bit. Fortunately, The Twelve is a full production model, and with the way CW recently has been operating, I can hardly wait to see what new dial colors and movement upgrades will be available in 2024.
FYI, at SF watch fair CW CEO Mike French mentioned 1) that they will be supply constrained on these (demand is massive) and 2) they will be bringing out smaller models later in the year. My purple Ti order is in.
Respect what they are doing and quality of CW output, but for my eyes I don’t like the pointy hour markers and busy dial. Maybe the watch looks better in person? Overall case, proportion etc. look great though. I prefer the Tissot PRX overall.
My dear old mum is doing her best to talk me out of spending some of my savings on a titanium 12 but she's failing, I don't have a proper special in my collection and for the price and look, this is the one...adding to that the sterling is dropping like a rock, so I might as well...thanks for the video dude, you are definitely contributing to the inevitability.
The titanium option would be the one I’d go for. I’m debating on the purple one, because I know it will be an eye catching talking point. I already have the Longines ‘big eye’ in titanium g5 , this I believe is grade 2 titanium. I hope it’s not a scratch magnet !
Thanks for the video! I am now highly considering buying the 40mm Ti version of The Twelve as my first automatic watch. The COSC certificate and hence the higher accuracy is what does it for me. It's unfortunate that the 'Glacier Blue' and 'Mineral Blue' dials are restricted to the steel cases and hence the SW200-1. But I will be happy to go with 'Nebula Purple'. Probably gonna get the rubber strap first and buy the bracelet later, just so that I can buy it sooner 😅
The c60 sapphire is awesome. Bought on a whim, but became a happy customer. Yes a cheaper movement, but looks and finish more than make up for snobbery. Yep, ordered the Bel Canto too. That dial is Center piece.
I've ordered the blue titanium model on a bracelet and I ordered the rubber strap as well, but could only get it in black. All my life, I've been a bracelet guy but, all my bracelet watches are now on straps and I think it won't be long before the Twelve is on the rubber and I think I've got you and Adrian Barker to thank for that!
Great review 👏. I was sceptical at the pricepoint on this one, but wow, what a great looking watch which you managed to highlight very well. Some fabulous shots and great features too. Nice one 🎉
Great review and details regarding CW 12 . Planning to buy probably Titanium since has longer power reserve. Good price and very good finish. Thanks Andrew as always👍
The other thing is legibility, unless it's a big date the contrast of white on black or black on white is much appreciated by myopic old farts like me.
Dear Andrew, a tough question for you: if you had to pick only one watch between the new CW The Twelve and the very obviously different Tudor BB54, which one would you choose?
I had the opportunity to try on this watch at SF Windup yesterday! The CW booth was absolutely mobbed (people were 3 deep). William Brackfield was there, and I got to chat with Jorg Jr. & Mike France at length. Everybody was so nice, and as Jorg Jr. was helping me with all the watches I wanted to try on, he agreed they all look simply too big for my wrist; he didn't do that whole AD salesperson thing "Oh, you could pull off a 40mm watch! It's state of mind!" I really appreciate that. Mike France said the 36mm version of The Twelve should be coming out August 2023. I'm glad I got the 36mm Sealander, even though I sent it back for repair a week after I received it. CW will have to really step up their support with the 'Bel Canto Effect" & the launch of The Twelve. Mike France made everything right once I reached out to him, but it shouldn't have to go up to the CEO for rectification.
Awesome, thanks for your insights, really appreciate it! Will wait for the 36mm, for sure! You reckon it's gonna stay as slim as it is now? And will the titanium ones also gonna be colour limited? Would love myself a 36mm white dial with sub 9mm height 🤩

@@dBsdecibels Hi! My wrist is so small that the band didn't even get considered (I'm just holding onto the face of the watch against my wrist and noticing how my wrist was obliterated). I am now only learning that people care about the shininess of the band (SS versus Ti). There is one reviewer who did wrist rolls for each band of The Twelve. I am not sure if I am allowed to mention it here, but if you search for "wrist roll christopher ward the twelve" you will find it (it's not the Watchfinder video. :) ) I did look through a loupe at these, and it was amazing. When I got to the booth, nobody was there (not even the CW people). I was the first to arrive, and all the watches were all laid out, like candy. It was such a treat.
I saw it in person at Windup in SF. One of the reps unfortunately confirmed that there is nothing in the works regarding a glacier blue or white dial titanium variant
I was surprised to hear about it being Grade II Ti. I was under the impression that only Grade V could be mirror polished. I'm strongly debating one of these. I like the durability and high polish of steel, but I'd like the better movement & thinner case reserved for the Ti. Might hold off, in case they do a special edition or update in that combination. Wouldn't object to paying more for an in-house movement or stepped up finishing. At this price point, a little extra price can go a long way on the end result; not at diminished returns yet!
@@ghostofk2 don’t they have an in-house? I must be miss remembering, but I thought they did. If they don’t, then I completely agree. That’s a costly effort to undertake.
they have an in house movement, but it's thick as hell, so not suitable for this design. They're planning on updating it late this year (fall supposedly), so we'll see!
@@darkeye77 Okay, that's what I thought. Yeah, it would be amazing if they took that, thinned it down, turned up the finishing (a bit), and released it as a v2.0 of the 12. I'd happily pay a decent bit more for something like that. Maybe they could call it the 13, lol.
Yeah I'd also prefer more combinations. I'm not sold on the titanium dial colors or the material. I'd take a steel one with the better movement and reduced thickness
I've had a Christopher Ward for some months, a fabulous watch which I wear every day! The 12 are next level and I want one!!! I'll be going back to Maidenhead for a nice cup of tea and to view the range.
I own five CW's. It's difficult to judge a watch purely from images and video. For me, I would be concerned that the dial is over textualised an the screws are on the wrong side. I do like the use of titanium though.
@@alwayspooh1588 I live in France so eveything online. I ordered a C63 (I'm thinking to sell it because I don't wear it often) and my lovely toolwatch C65.
@@jdassonval Bonsoir, merci pour votre réponse, (this next bit is where my French is lacking!) The C63 is a nice looking watch, but like you I sell if I am not wearing, but some watches I cannot bear to part with.
Thank you for the interesting details! I really like the twelve and feel most attracted to the light blue one, I just am not sure if the readability is good enough. I have at least one watch where bad readability has ruined the watch for me. Did you get to see some of the other models? I don't want to buy another one with a darker blue dial since I already own some and want something different.
In my opinion the logo of your channel doesn't fit you and your channel. The red and black with straight lines is rather aggressive. I would go for more friendly colours and curlier font.
Titanium grade 5 is harder than stainless steel and it can be polished. Rolex used it for the new Yachtmaster. Tudor normally uses grade 2, but for some parts (like the buckle on the Pelagos FXD Alinghi) it's grade 5.
Great video as always, but I disagree on the point of white date-windows being a “blight.” Depending on placement of the date and design of the indices, a white date wheel can give much-needed balance to the dial. The Mark XX you showed as an example of a dial blighted by a white date window is actually a great example of a watch that looks much better for it. The Mark XVIII had a black date wheel and it treated a gap-toothed effect at 3, whereas the XX dial looks far more complete at a glance and is a big improvement.
I wish CW had a warrenty repair center in the US. If it needs work done the watch has to be shipped back "across the pond". I have a CW waiting on warrenty repair going on 11 weeks now.
I love these watches and I'll likely consider buying one in the next year maybe. The one thing that stops me is the fact that I have a horage supersede that I pre-ordered which is on its way this month. That watch is also an integrated bracelet watch except it's got dual time, a micro rotor and is bit more unique as far as design. If they come out with a dual time 12 then I'm buying immediately.
The only thing CW needs to do is get an inhouse movement or at least an accuracy grantee. -20/+20 seconds per day and low power reserve, for those sellita movements are just not good.
For their Snow Leopard watch, they have an in-house Calibre SH21 COSC with a 5-day power reserve priced at $1,925 🤔 I think only the height of the movement would have been hard to get around for this Twelve series
The SW-200 in my CW Supercompressor runs about 7 seconds a day fast, since my wife magnetised it and I degaussed it. More than good enough for more, and the most accurate mechanical watch I own. (Cough, Seiko are worse for wide accuracy)
I have a lido and I have to say, of all of the other 4 CW watches I have it is the most beautiful of them all I love it. I'm very tempted by the 12 as well!!! A really nice looking price of kit. I really wish CW could have stayed under the radar a bit more though, 10 years ago it felt like it was just my brand and no one knew about it!!!!
I wish they would provide a scratch resistant coating at that price. Now not finished to nearly the same standard, RZE coats their Ti watches and sells them for about 500US.
Lovely watch and amazingly thorough review as always. I have been pondering a Christopher ward. The only issue and I mean the only issue is the logo. It just feels incomplete to me. I preferred it with the actual writing, that wasn’t great either. Such a shame but the logo has really held them back I feel. Not sure your videos need the repeated logo and music cuts. Thanks though. Very enjoyable.
i sadly missed the limited c63 in purple. I just ordered the blue marine, but thankfully this TI twelve isnt limited. I'll surely pick one up down the road.
Having just got my hands on the CW C65 Dune GMT LTD Edition all I can say is... "Owning Omegas, Tudors and Tags how on earth do they produce 1st class quality watches at such a low price point?!" It's truly beyond me guys.
To be honest, the pricing, the Details, the Finishing, the Movement, and also the Stylish Dial....I mean what else does one need? I was looking so long for an affordable watch in this Style and almost bought a Straum but there was missing something and I Don't have the money for an IWC Ingenieur or a Baume&M, then i saw this one .. and bought it on a Rubber Strap... no brainer!
I didn’t know the talking hands guy from Watchfinder & Co. had his own channel! And are you sure it’s Grade 2? As this watch case has polished areas, and I thought Grade 2 titanium can’t be finished to a high polish 🤷♂️ I really like this new watch too. My only caveat being that the double indices at the 12 o’clock seem to be placed a little too far apart from each other. And it really bothers me!
It's very well executed and not just for the price but they turned the dial up to 12 (pun intended) and I would have preferred the dial to be less obvious. This might have meant they could make the indices smaller too as they wouldn't have to fight so hard to be noticed. Right now I admire it but don't want to own one. And, yes, I have seen them in person.
All CW needs to really step it up is a 2.0 version of their s21 mvt. Slimmer to accommodate their new ranges. I've had 4 CWs so far, aint paying for another Sellita.
Grade 2… is NEVER better than Grade 5 in a watch. No one is sticking watches in acid… don’t need more “corrosion resistance” instead need a stronger metal for everyday wear. Don’t butter our bread… it’s a cost cutting strategy.
should have been 12 things....
I was about to write that!

In house movement would be long into the future for CW. And the price would at least be doubled at that point. But eventually they will do it.
Pantone perfect easter egg watch indeed.
⌚👍
I really like this one. I wish there was an AD close to me so I could get a look at it.
Christopher Ward is one of the most interesting brand. I own 2 pieces and I'm really happy with it.
Did you have to order online, or were you able to go to their factory and see the watches before buying?
i just pre ordered their sh21 blue marine. My first CW and really first luxury piece. I'm super excited
Got the trident 600 but thats the nex one for sure
@@alwayspooh1588 I live in France so eveything online. I ordered a C63 (I'm thinking to sell it because I don't wear it often) and my lovely toolwatch C65.
@@jdassonval Bonsoir, merci pour votre réponse, (this next bit is where my French is lacking!) The C63 is a nice looking watch, but like you I sell if I am not wearing, but some watches I cannot bear to part with.
I love the two titanium models and the ice blue steel! I kind of want all 3. Wondering how the bracelet would fair on someone with a 6.25 inch wrist
you will make it work:)
@@amgolfer3591 Probably yeah!
Wonder if there is a 42 or 43mm coming. I’m a big guy with big wrists lol.
Looks like Gerald had his second chance with the twelve...
Tudor normally uses grade 2, but for some parts (like the buckle on the Pelagos FXD Alinghi) it's grade 5.
didnt know about this brand, love the watch and absolutely gonna pick it up
their Sealander is also a beauty
CW is on my list. They make nice watches. Only wish they were larger. Thanks for sharing this.
Got a Nordic Blue on order-prefer the her of steel (though the hi Grade movement would have been nice)
Where can I find info on the smaller variants mentioned? 👀 Any info on the size and timeline for these? 😮
The watches are a lot more accurate than stated tolerances. The non chronometer's I have been about 5 seconds fast per day at most.
This is a home run for CW and another great video brother 👏
Is this dubbed? Voice over? Seeing your face blows my mind.
Really debating between this and the Straum Jan Mayen
Hoping for some more dial colours on the titanium… call me boring but the purple and blue don’t do it for me…
Agreed!
Does the titanium version have a hardened coating on it?
I wish they would provide a scratch resistant coating at that price. Now not finished to nearly the same standard, RZE coats their Ti watches and sells them for about 500US.
Lovely watch and amazingly thorough review as always. I have been pondering a Christopher ward. The only issue and I mean the only issue is the logo. It just feels incomplete to me. I preferred it with the actual writing, that wasn’t great either. Such a shame but the logo has really held them back I feel. Not sure your videos need the repeated logo and music cuts. Thanks though. Very enjoyable.
I have a quartz 35mm prx, so happy this came down the pipe. The gray steel version is my choice ,colours in titanium are not for me.
Does the CW twelve come with a black dial if not which color is more universal
Great video. Would love to see a side by side comparison with the PRX like Mrwhostheboss does with cell phones.
The purple one looks gorgeous.
i sadly missed the limited c63 in purple. I just ordered the blue marine, but thankfully this TI twelve isnt limited. I'll surely pick one up down the road.
Even if I don't agree with you on every point I still very much enjoyed this video. 👍👍👍
good quality watch for a great price. Definitely looking to get one
Having just got my hands on the CW C65 Dune GMT LTD Edition all I can say is... "Owning Omegas, Tudors and Tags how on earth do they produce 1st class quality watches at such a low price point?!" It's truly beyond me guys.
Maybe because the watches you mentioned have in house movements, better power reserve, anti magnetic etc.
I am amazed what CW has accomplished with this watch for the price! I believe I got to buy this 🙂
The Twelve is growing on me which is unfortunate because I have a Bel Canto on order and can't stretch to buying the two.
Also will they make the purple dial in stainless steel or just titanium
The trident on the counter balance would have been great and in a striking color like dark red . But I still ordered the ice / steel version 😂
One thing I would love to know is how does the weight of the watch feels when you hold it in your hands compared to an AP or Czapek??
Hey Andrew, please do take a look at the Farer Moonphase.
Tempted to sell my PRX. Hmm maybe not. Really like this Christopher Ward 12 too
I like it. But which one in colour..?
I love my CW Trident 1000.
To be honest, the pricing, the Details, the Finishing, the Movement, and also the Stylish Dial....I mean what else does one need? I was looking so long for an affordable watch in this Style and almost bought a Straum but there was missing something and I Don't have the money for an IWC Ingenieur or a Baume&M, then i saw this one .. and bought it on a Rubber Strap... no brainer!
This watch looks brilliant!
I'll rather the date window DON'T blend in the dial. Other than this issue, this is a interesting watch.
Jeez Andrew, you're really making me want this thing 😅
It's very well executed and not just for the price but they turned the dial up to 12 (pun intended) and I would have preferred the dial to be less obvious. This might have meant they could make the indices smaller too as they wouldn't have to fight so hard to be noticed. Right now I admire it but don't want to own one. And, yes, I have seen them in person.
Truly a lovely watch
That is a excellent watch. Some thing that I can afford. ❤😊
geez and i just bought a prx… wouldn’t be terrible to have both though i suppose
oh snap mr watchfinder!
Great review Andrew
I only wish they made this dial and upgraded movement in st steel
Theres a smaller twelve coming. Thats all I needed to know, thank you!
I would love to see CW's SH21 movement on the Twelve Ti Skeleton.
They'd have to really squash it to fit it in there. Maybe if they took out all the complications and made it a pure 3-hander.
All CW needs to really step it up is a 2.0 version of their s21 mvt. Slimmer to accommodate their new ranges.
I've had 4 CWs so far, aint paying for another Sellita.
this guy is a poet everything he talks in the video
I think you convinced me Andrew (I was already on the verge) ... 🎉 New watch!
Grade 2… is NEVER better than Grade 5 in a watch. No one is sticking watches in acid… don’t need more “corrosion resistance” instead need a stronger metal for everyday wear. Don’t butter our bread… it’s a cost cutting strategy.
Prefer the Steel colours and steel finish. Prefer the SW-300 movement/thickness in SS for same money as the Ti
