    Very informative and thorough review. I especially appreciate how you focus on how the lens features and characteristics play out in practice, both results and filming/shooting process.

    Thanks Dustin for the great review; is there any resason why you would get the tiny lens 24 f/18 over this lens aside from size? Which would you recommend if you focused more on photography with a little video on the side?

    • @DustinAbbottTWI
      @DustinAbbottTWI  ปีที่แล้ว

      The biggest reasons to choose the Tiny would be size and price. There are a lot of advantages to the V-AF lenses, though, so to me they are worth it.

    Can the tally light and focus hold button be customized so that it works like the astrophotography functionality on Samyang 24mm F/1.8? Which has the superior optical performance for astrophotography?

    interest if in the future any manu will release a product where (if it can be implemented) focus ring essentially spin with the autofocus motor. To make a bit less ‘dangerous’ i guess when in autofocus mode they could just detach autofocus system from some hook on ring (inside) and not make that ring spin but when switched again back to manual connect it back. So in the way it would be both true manual focus and autofocus lens

      I'm not sure that will happen with a mirrorless lens, at least with the current technology.

    Hi :) Great review 🎉
    I’m in the process of getting some primes and now I’m a bit torn between getting a full set of these lenses or three G and GM lenses (20/35/85mm)
    I primarily do video work, but quite a bit of photography too lately. Would you somehow consider these over Sony G/GM lenses? 🫣

    • @DustinAbbottTWI
      @DustinAbbottTWI  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      The GM lenses are optically superior, sure, but I do think these Samyangs are a lot of fun. I own several of those GM lenses and love them, but if you're on a tighter budget, the V-AFs are a great hybrid solution.

      @ Thank you :) I’m not on a tight budget, but want whatever’s best for primary video and secondary photo 🥴

    plastic fanstastic"" ahhh~~~ LOL. Mr Abbott ~ I do mostly a still shooting and was considering acquiring a 135 mm Samyang lens. However would you recommend a 75mm cine lens from Samyang, if I want to explore a different "look" from a photo lens? Also these "cine lens look" you were referring, can it be mimicked during post production?? Thank you for another detailed review.

    • @DustinAbbottTWI
      @DustinAbbottTWI  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The 75mm is very nice optically. As for getting the "look" in post: a good post processor can do a lot, obviously, so it really depends on the skill level of the grader/processor.

    Samyang has come a long ways from the beginning days. Fantastic review. I can see why Canon doesn’t want 3rd party on their platform. Tamron, Sigma, and Samyang makes lenses almost as good if not better than their oem counterparts for much less.

    • @DustinAbbottTWI
      @DustinAbbottTWI  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      That's true, though limiting that access has the potential of discouraging people to buy into the Canon platform...and I know that is happening.

      Good point… I’m not trying to be political here but if we compare it to putting up a physical wall (closing off a whole country, a whole ecosystem, then you make it self sufficient. However, the users inside are stuck, stagnant, and lose out of the sharing of intelligence among the outside world (the other brands, 3rd parties). Lol, my mind works weird like this. I agree with Dustin on this.

    One of my students have this lens coupled with A7 mark 3. I would really love this type of lens on Nikon or Canon (prolly impossible for Canon). The color on Sony are kinda bad, but this lens gave it a "character" some sort.

    • @DustinAbbottTWI
      @DustinAbbottTWI  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      That would be nice. Nikon is more likely at this point, as they seem to be relaxing their protocols much more than Canon.

      @@DustinAbbottTWI you replied! it's so good to see you here, even on old video. can I say something though? I would really love to see some comparasion on current low to mid budget camera+lenses from each brand. Thanks alot, been watching you for years.

    Price in Europe has dropped (about 50€ more than the tiny series). Do you recommend it for Sony aps-c? I don't see any valid alternative for aps-c (i don't like sigma rendering so..).

    • @DustinAbbottTWI

      It's definitely worth checking out. It does a lot of things well.

    Is it optically exactly the same lens, just in new better body, more suitable for video? Or this one have different color reproduction, better flares etc?

    • @DustinAbbottTWI
      @DustinAbbottTWI  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      It is the same optical design, but I do think the optical glass is updated to make sure that color reproduction is consistent across these lenses.

    Hi dustin. Is there going to be a review for thr 35?

      Yes! It is scheduled for next week, with the V-AF 75mm scheduled for the week after that.

    Hi there, how does this lens hold up against the 24mm F1.4 G Master?

    • @DustinAbbottTWI
      @DustinAbbottTWI  ปีที่แล้ว

      The sharpness isn't far off, but the G Master does have nicer bokeh.

      For now, yes. I'm sure they'd love to produce them for Canon RF, too, but so far Canon isn't playing ball.
