    Awesome job with this video. I was able to connect to my Ryobi garage door open with just a one time view of your video. That’s how well you explained it. Kudos to you. For anyone out there that might have a Ryobi GDO the “Program Button” is the learn button. Hold that for 3 sec then just listen and follow the step by step of this awesome video.

    Nice job Richard. Your instructions worked perfectly for my 2013 Ford C-max! I would point out that the instructions from the home-link and Chamberlain (manufacturer of my opener) are both wrong. A couple of what I think are helpful comments. 1) Make certain that the units remote is only a few inches away from the home link panel. I don't think you mentioned this. This is very important, or it will not work. 2) The learn button on my 2020 Chamberlain B-750 only flashes once when pushed, it does not continue to blink. This may be unique to my model. THANKS AGAIN - GREAT JOB!!

    Rich, you imply this works for all cars with homelink, but Chamberlain told me that's not so. My opener has a yellow reset button and my car is a Toyota Solara. I couldn't get the Solara homelink to interface with my just purchased in 2020 Chamberlain C205s. When I called Chamberlain tech support, I was told that the yellow reset was the problem, and the only way to get around it would be to buy a bridge devise. So I suspect your 95% number is very wrong. Wish I had known that before buying the openers, but now I'll just stick with the Chamberlain openers that clip onto the driver's visor.

    • @garagedoorgenius
      @garagedoorgenius  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes most vehicles 2013 and under need a HomeLink repeater with a Chamberlain LiftMaster yellow learn button. The models before the yellow learn button programmed right up to any make/year without a repeater.
      FYI, this video was made before yellow learn button hit the market. 😬

      Garage Door Genius Thank you so much for your quick response!! After I posted my comment, I found a video where you presses the [garage ceiling unit] button, then the one Homelink button you want to use 3 times. This didn’t work. How can I deduce if the garage door opener is universal? I am baffled this is so difficult on a brand new vehicle. The car/ garage belongs to my older neighbors; I REALLY want to be able to make this work for them. Again, thank you. ps I called the dealership; they didn’t know how to work Homelink 🙄. @@50tmack I'm with ya on that. Should be as easy as pressing the learn button, then pressing the button in the car a few times.
      But, like I said, most need a remote unfortunately.
      The owner manual for the car should give half way decent directions. See if it shows them using a remote. It also should say whether or not it's a universal HomeLink.

    Just wanted to let you know your video was a life saver. My sister in law lost her clickers and when you said this can only be done with the handheld remote I used my remote clicker to program her car's home link instead of buying one. My question is this, now that I have her garage door set to the number 1 button which was originally for my garage door what steps do I need to follow to reprogram the middle button on my remote to open my garage door? She doesn't need the remote, I do. She only uses the button in her car for the garage door and I am keeping the number one button for her garage but I want to program the number two or middle button to open my garage door. What steps do I need to do to achieve that? Thank you again for helpful video.

      Clear the memory on the garage door opener. You do that by pressing and holding the learn button for about 30 seconds. Now there are other manufacturers the steps are a little different. But typically it's just pressing and holding and learn button for about 30 seconds. Then you'll have to reprogram your remote / keypad / your home link again.

      @garagedoorgenius  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for the sub! I really appreciate it.
      You don't need the "original" remote, just a remote. Which you can purchase from Lowe's, Home Depot or Amazon.
      I've programmed hundreds of cars. Most of the time you need a remote to do it.
      However, there are some vehicles that have what's called a Universal HomeLink. Which basically it's a remote built in. So no remote required. Your vehicle manual should say if it is or not. If your manual shows a remote "picture of a remote", then you'll need one. It's not a Universal HomeLink.
      Hope that makes sense.
