  • The Datsun (aka Nissan) 280z is an amazing sports car, and this 1977 Datsun 280z was a blast to review (thanks to the owner letting me borrow it). If you have never checked out a Z car, this is the one to look at first.
To top it all off, this 280z has been heavily modified, including an LS1 swap! What more could you want?

There are some weird looking body pieces on this car making it lose some of its beauty especially those mirrors and color matched bumpers. Also nowadays I think seeing an original L series engine makes it more special than any engine swap especially an LS which just doesn't suit this car at all. The noise the L series makes sounds so good and sounds so mechanical, dare I say almost sounds like old school Ferrari's and that in itself is badass. However I do agree, these cars are overlooked by the hype behind Porsches when these cars were giving Porsche a huge run for their money back then especially on the track. I like to say the 240z, 260z, 280z is such an awesome way to get into classic sport cars that look and sound like old school Ferrari and E-Types and having the driving experience of a Porsche all while being more affordable to obtain and maintain.
