    What a sweet looking airplane . Fancy looking golf cart used to pull the jet out of the hangar .

      What does ILS minimums mean please ?

    • @captmoonbeam
      @captmoonbeam  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      The minimum altitude you would descend to on an ILS approach with out seeing the runway.

    A very interesting and entertaining video. Nice to know what things are and how they work. Olen looks about the same age as my son 24

    Nice, video Jim. I do a lot of flying in a citation II jet on my computer tho. I proly have logged around 1000 hours of flight simulator time in the plane fun jet to fly. I'm sure it's fun to fly in the real world too.

    • @captmoonbeam

    Olen looks so young (I'm just gettin' old)...fellow co-worker?
    Great vid, as always!
    You have such a calm, gentle nature about you...have you thought about being a flight instructor?

    • @captmoonbeam
      @captmoonbeam  7 ปีที่แล้ว +21

      Thanks. Olen is older than he looks. He and I occasionally work together and he flies a CJ2 for another company. I worked full time a s flight Instructor for more than four years.

      I'm surprised He's not doing public service announcements for the FAA now.

  • @KutWrite

    A little rushed for my taste.
    I'd have liked to watch takeoffs and more of the landings w/o the jerky cuts.
    You are a very pleasant person & Olen seems cool.
    Why can't you drop the name of the "famous actor?"

    • @captmoonbeam
      @captmoonbeam  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      thanks. Olen is great to fly with. A big reason people buy a personal jet is privacy and I have to respect that.

    I loved the story about the "famous person" - I can just envision that encounter. :)
    I can just see the look on your face when you stopped at the FBO, and saw that there was NO-ONE there! :) It was an "oh shit" moment, for sure. Thanks again for all of these wonderful videos. I really like riding along with you guys.

    • @captmoonbeam

      It's not always possible for me to do that. When I can, I do. This aircraft has a built in noise attenuating system for the headsets and intercom and is placarded against plugging into the headphone jack when it's in use.

    Hopefully on the M2 they fixed this, but, on the C560U, the rain doors are useless, and the alcohol nozzles get the bottom 1/3 or less of the window. Also kind of silly. Lol.
    Nice to see Rw16 into PWK. I live 40 minutes south of there. Hawthorne has good people. Next time you go in there, say hi to Greg, he's a CSR, and one of my former students. 👍

    How do you determine who flies left seat and right seat? Is it a seniority thing or what? You are a captain so do you get paid less when you fly right seat?

    • @captmoonbeam

      I decide who flies. Normally I trade legs. Sometimes you'll see the same person fly all the legs and I usually do that to maintain that persons currency.

    Can confirm, those chairs in the AGC lounge are SUPER comfy. When I worked for a banner tower, we finished for the day, as a line of summer storms was pushing through Ohio, so we opted for the massaging chairs and some movies. The others passed out!

    I certainly hope you at least bought your wife dinner after waiting all that time.
    Funny PIT story. We just took off out of EWR heading to LAX in the BAC 1-11 and about fifteen minutes into the flight, the flight attendant comes to the cockpit wigging out. Caterer forgot lemons. No. Big deal you say, HA! It was!! I call ahead to the FBO at PIT and have twenty lemons brought out to the plane as soon as we landed. We made up a story about why we needed to land, boss believed it, fool.
    Quick fuel calculation and we were still good on fuel, didn't even shut both engines down. Threw the guy forty bucks and off we went. Boss was none the wiser, at least he never said anything. Another successful flight. Ahh, the fun times of corporate flying.
    That one never gets old.

    • @captmoonbeam
      @captmoonbeam  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You made me laugh. I used to fly to Teterboro in GIIB once a week and we would have $700 of catering on board for potential clients.Steak, lobster and shrimp. Most of the time it was dinner for the Line guys back in St. Louis. But, about once a month the Boss would have us pickup Crystal burgers on the way to the airport. We could miss the lobster but, that $10 Crystal order better be on the airplane.

    Very nice video, Captain. Liked the "famous person story." In my time, I've had the opportunity to meet some famous folks, including some USN admirals, while I served as an enlisted weather forecaster. It's been my experience that the famous or "big" folks are usually very nice. But, the people surrounding them, no so much.

    Since you guys are taking on passengers sometimes, even the "Famous" guy, how come no handsome Pilot Uniforms? And maybe when your talking things like ILS, or other Aviation talk, could you maybe explain what that is? I think it is "Instrument Landing Search"? Probably wrong, but a guess? Thanks.

      Hi Richard. They knew my hobby was making videos. Occasionally I would take a clip with my phone or gopro and make a short video. It was very unobtrusive. But, I think everyone just assumed they were like the millions of other videos on TH-cam. More like clips of landings or bad home movies. And for years they were. I even had two different chief pilots hold my phone and take video. But, no one watched my videos. I literally had to force people to watch.( I apologise to all the people I did that to).. My flying videos cover a period of five different companies and more than a dozen different types of aircraft. I didn't just decide to do vlogs, what happened is that my editing improved over the years and I just changed how I titled the videos. They've evolved from video clips to short films. It wasn't till last year when one of the people I fly, saw one of my videos and started binge watching that, any one else noticed.

    Watching the artificial horizon on the glass cockpit on your descent into Executive I was reminded how important it is, to be able to rely on those instruments if even if only as a private VFR pilot. I wonder if it would make sense to teach new students one lesson in "if you are suddenly caught in a tough situation (wx, dusk, etc.) and you are unsure of where the horizon is, how to trust in that artificial horizon to keep you from losing situational awareness." What do you think?

      @captmoonbeam  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Clinton. It's a requirement for a PPL to get a minimum of 3 hours of simulated instrument time. Could be a lifesaver.

    Great video. You are so gifted at just showing what it means to be a charter pilot. Simple...not glamorizing it or anything "Fake." I can tell you really enjoy what you do. No matter what seat you are flying, you are a true professional and I always enjoy your taking us along!

    Nice videos. Please keep them coming. How about a public relations school to send both United CEO and the White House press secretary to learn how to keep their jobs.

    Been enjoying your videos for a few weeks now! Can't thank you enough - you're delightfully pleasant and you keep some of us who are former pilots very entertained! (is there such a thing as a "former" pilot?!)

      @captmoonbeam  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Nope, No former pilots here. Just out of currency.

    Funny you show the lightening strips on the radome.. I know a thing or two about those.

    • @captmoonbeam
      @captmoonbeam  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I realized after I had made the video I had shown those before. I hate to repeat myself.

    • @Mikeycdoggy

      I'm not trying to narrow myself down here, but I am one of the people that inspects the radome for transmissivity. No worries on repeating yourself. We check the paint so if you get zapped at altitude, the aircraft will handle it. I love your video's.

    • @Mikeycdoggy

      No worries. I'm the one who inspects the paint thickness on the radome!
