7:19 I find it hilarious how pissed off Dr Marmont is in this video, his whole ego was shattered just from the presence of our sweet cinnamon roll Dr Darling
There are so many characters in-universe who just don't like Darling and I'm convinced it's because people find his optimism annoying Imagine disliking Darling. *Imagine*. He's so good tho
At least Emil understood that you can’t force art, that it needs to come naturally. These two lost the plot entirely in their self-imposed competition.
Just that Emil never got anyone killed. Or to the breaking point of killing themselves. Then again, he probably would have if he’d had the same resources.
The Marmounts make me think of the two current extremes of making content not only in video games, but in media in general. One extreme churns out content quickly just for the sake of having more. A quantity over quality approach (think the current state of something like Star Wars, Marvel, and Call of Duty). The other extreme is trying to make art without the artist. Things like A.I. assisted writing or digital art to make comprehensible storys, but the produced work often lacks any real substance or deeper meaning. I could be over thinking this, but I feel like Remedy is one of those rare companies that seems to make their art in an uncompromising way. It is the content they want to make. They could go in one of these extreme directions to possibly make more money or reach a bigger audience, but they would lose what makes the gaming studio special in the process.
Great point! Remedy is innovating because their stories aren’t afraid to get meta especially about the industry and then make it a well-crafted horror subgenre
Very apt description of them both. Both certainly do seem desperate to produce, but because of the impatience associated with the competition they’ve put themselves in, they struggle to achieve any meaningful results. They can’t see that art needs to be free-range in a sense, that it needs to be grow organically as a holistic process rather than just being a sum of parts and components.
The way that Jules talks about wanting to get revenge on Darling for making light of his discoveries made me wonder, are the Marmonts the reason why Dr. Darling is now trapped in the Dark Place? Time has always been a bit wonky both in Cauldron Lake and the Oldest House, plus we still aren't sure how Darling even ended up in the Dark Place in the first place. Mayhaps Jules invited him to the Lake House for a demonstration of the Painting and ended up accidentally banishing him into the Cauldron Lake Threshold. Im likely wrong and something else is afoot, but its an interesting concept considering both Marmonts' hatred for being shown up by others.
Well, the thing is, they reflected the Bad End of Alan Wake and Alice Wake's relationship. A stagnant loop of Darkness (the Shadow) instead of the Spiral. And the Question is, did they do that with the Artist entirely of their own Will? or did Alan/Mr. Scratch compel them to do it?
@@Fragmentsinfractals488 There's a recording from Jules saying that's why I love her and the statue in Jule's office is from Diana, I think they originally were in a good relationship and Alan's writing changed that.
@@kyler5039 Same as Alan and Alice themselves, you see. The Art reflects itself in other people who are like the Artist. It ... Resonates... We see ourselves in it.... ha ha. Perhaps it .... Echoes....
i wonder why alan wrote the lake house into return, and if he did it when he was creating the original manuscript with zane or when he edited it during initiation. either way, it seems like he projected his own experiences with marital conflict into the marmonts. and thanks for posting these, this dlc was a vibe.
I wish the final boss at the end of the dlc was a both the marmonts fused together as taken and one would scream or scratch at the other to make that respective one attack. Almost like a visualization of a toxic relationship where both parties aren’t allowed to leave
yd.3dyd.com/ this is my youtube downloader of choice .. if you mean the original files .. the lake house ones arent up yet .. but the rest of the RCU are on a google drive in my channel description :)
how I hate the control's level design, it turned out to be very stuffy for me, you walk through all these rooms again, you have no idea where to go, just like in control...
My man has discovered the point in the levels of Control, it's a federal office building, it's not going to feel lively, or even really all that energetic- outside of some case exceptions, like the ashtray maze. Even in the chaos of the Hiss corruption, the building is still mostly orderly, destruction only makes a mess of it, it's still drained of color. So that stuffy feeling is really more ideal for the design of Control.
but ngl i like being in a linear building floors than being in the dark woods where i can't see shit lmao😂 at least there's maps and each floor is not even that big of a place anyway

He took Darling saying calling the Dark Presence the Shadow was unscientific really personally.
Like it's not that deep Jules chill out 😭

The painting wasn't the monster in this DLC story, the Marmonts were the real monsters.
isn't that explicitly said?
@@motalux but this is what happens behind the whole experiment at the Lake House.
No shit, that might be why one is the final boss fight.

I was picking up the same thing during my playthrough, so you’re definitely not overthinking it.
Jules actor's performance was fantastic
“The guy thinks he’s a fucking rockstar”
I mean has he seen dynamite bro is a rockstar
It's very funny in the first video, when Diana's voice is replaced with an artificial voice when she gets angry 😀
What a lovely couple! Best example ever for a best marriage!
At the end their marriage was rock solid.
Any idea what accent is the dude speaking in?
@@The_Sweet_Res French I think.
The recordings and the reactions from Estévez were priceless
These recordings were one of my favorite things about Control, especially because of Dr. Darling. Thanks for the upload.

i thought it was established in control that darling transcended reality in a way?
Darling exposed himself directly to the Hedron Resonance. We're not really sure what that means for him, but he disappeared from the Bureau.
Kinda sad looking back at this knowing the ending, but they deserved it, they shouldn't torture the artists

Alan write of the crack but they amplified it themselves by continuing deeper and deeper down into the darkness until it consumed them
It's like if Hartman and Darling were married
Director Faden needs to shut down this facility asap.
Just superb writing and acting to make me despise these characters so much, their deaths were too good for them.
