Michele M. It's not a big deal. The juice burns away/cooks off because of they heat from the grill, and you just scrape off the solid/semi-solid residue.

Boil the fruit, add a cup of Sugar. Cook until the the mixture coats the back of a spoon. Let cool for 20 minutes. Scoop in the dessert cup and add cool whip on top. My 7 year old granddaughter makes these and it's good. I monitor her when she's boiling the fruit.

Very similar to custard. "Instant Pudding" is powder in a box that we mix with fresh milk and whisk until thickened. No cooking needed.
