Which UV-10 tumbler to buy for rock tumbling. Why not to buy the one with the yellow stripped bowl and light duty motor.

If you plan on using a reloading tumbler for rocks keep it to 3 lbs or less so the raytech bowl will work well, this will help prolong the life of the tumbler motor.

So all the blue striped tumblers they drop are for rocks?

If the bowl has a blue strip it is for rocks and thicker, yellow stripes are on the reloading tumblers and the bowls are thinner, but you can still use the blue stripped ones for reloading.

If you are starting out in tumbling first you would need a rotary tumbler to do the course tumble a cheap one of those is $80-100 and will do 3 pounds of rock, then the vibratory tumbler here is $330-380 but tumbles a lot of rock and makes your last 2-3 stages quicker 2-3 days each instead of a week each in a rotary and you only use 2- 3 tablespoons of grit for 9 pound batch compared to 9 tablespoons for the same in a rotary.
Total cost to do 9 pounds of rock in 4 grits and then a polish using a vibe tumbler will cost me about $9.25
