I didn't say it was more environmental friendly then quality gas lighters. I said It is more environmental friendly then disposable gas lighters made out of plastic which it 100% is. Quality gas lighters also need butane that comes in butane bottles so it's exactly the same packaging as a can of zippo lighter fuel. But I'm not an expert on this so I have no idea if burning zippo fuel is more environmental friendly then quality reusable gas lighters, but that's not what I said in the first place.

Also, an auto 'light on opening' mechanism would have been a nice feature to see. In a limited run of Zippos (something like the Thorens)
How so? The fuel evaporates eventually so that wouldn't be optimal for a survival situation. Zippo lighter costs about 15$ where I live. These 15 bucks will get you a lighter for a lifetime, how is that a middle class toy? Yep, fuel is expensive, but so is buying a reusable lighter every time your one runs out. If we aren't talking about unique zippo lighters with some historic value, it's not some fancy thing. Across the whole history of this lighter it's been used by people of all economic and social background, and I doubt that it has ever changed. It's just that most people became lazy and it's easier for them to buy disposable lighters rather than change flint, fuse and petrol in a zippo even if it's cheaper.
I still have mine that I carried for over fifteen years until I quit smoking in 1987. It's a zodiac model that had the Cancer symbol, lol. I remember it got shot with a BB gun and the guts were stuck inside so I sent it in and they fixed it for free. What a great American product. But I must say watching you smoke almost made me sick, and you need to quit that nasty habit. I wish I'd never started. Note: One big drawback is over filling it and sticking it in your pants pocket and having it leak on your junk: Not pleasant.
Well I hate to be captain obvious with this comment. There's WAY more to a liquid fuel lighter that smoking anything. They are widely used by the outdoor /camping/ hiking and survival community. They can be easily refurbished with basic tools. At one time the fuel was less than $2 US here . Its major drawback is the rapid evaporation and leaking usually due to overfilling. ZORRO makes some really heavy duty ZIPPO clones with far more durable hinges, springs and internal parts. The most durable outdoor lighters I have are large peanut lighters made by EXOTAC called the TitanLight. It has O rings to prevent the obvious fluid problems and if you have a basic knowledge of a fluid based lighter , and better sense than to set yourself ablaze😂 they work GREAT. I have a TitanLight that I filled, put the cap on and its still full after 2 years...Always WIPE your hands and the lighter off completely BEFORE you strike it. Personal health as well as the health concerns of others is a valid consideration BUT I don't smoke anything anymore. Environmental impact of disposable plastics is far worse than a ZIPPO lighter fluid can which WILL rust away to nothing over time. They are about 99% steel. I use commonly available white gas /napttha /Coleman fuel to refill my fluid based lighters as ZIPPO brand lighter fluid is $1 an OUNCE here in the US. THATS more expensive than bourbon. Fluid based lighters can also use high proof alcohol (ethanol) and other flammable liquids in a true survival emergency when you NEED a fire now

Not ruin the smoke tamping it out each relight.
Clipper lighters are refillable and the flint can be changed.
I had one of over a year.
Though I still like zippos.
Clippers are one of the best disposable lighters but they are heavily associated with people who don't smoke tobacco if you know what I mean so that's why I don't use them
I have a imco they are fun i had a zippo in the 80s now i miss it
What happened to your zippo? I was also thinking about buying an imco but the new ones aren't made by the original austrian brand anymore in Austria so I have serious doubts about the build quality. 2nd hand imco's are also expensive and Zippos are just better so I just stick to zippo. Do you think imco's are better than zippo?
@@Ludwig_Cox I got a imco so far so good have had it about a week got it on amazon its no one of the old ones seems well made. the zippo i had got lost in a move could still be in a box someplace are got left behind could be out thar still in circulation was a generic brass one
Honestly, smoking a cigarette with a zippo is way cooler than using a vape.
The Best
It will work with just kerosene. You can get it for under 5 bucks a gallon. You don't have to buy lighter fuel at 5 bucks for 4 ounces.
Yes I know but It wears out you're zippo faster because it's a dirtier type of fuel. You can use all kinds of cheaper alternatives but it can clog up your zippo, I think Cutlerylover did a video about that topic a long time ago
intro song?

Please correct me if I am wrong, Ludwig, but I believe the German WWII lighters are no longer made in Germany but are now made in China. Sad.
@@karlkrass8645 Yes I was wrong in the video, Imco was an Austrian brand and made in Austria not so long ago but now they're made in China under the company "Windmill"
Nice to see some one smoking on YT
i dont smoke but i like incensem and i almost always use a zippo
Zippo ,, let's keep it simple ,,, BEST ,, your,l ever get ,EVER
What do you think about the taste? Is the smell of gasoline so noticeable and is that first puff more harmful to your health than gas lighters?
Zippo lighters have a pleasant scent of freedom and adventure. They smell of gasoline, of course, but very pleasant.
Don't worry about it!
There are also Zippo gas inserts, but in my opinion they are not "real Zippo".😉
I like when a young person uses a Zippo, and then asks how you turn it off. fmd 😅😂
Yesterday I lent someone mine on the street and it took 20 seconds for him to figure out how to light his cigarette hahaha now I just light it for people to save them the hassle but it sure is entertaining to watch
3:22 badass moment ngl
With right modifications and good care, the fuel can last over 2 weeks
Not with me, I'm smoking close to a pack a day during summer holiday so I need to refuel every 5 days or something haha the only modification I'm aware of is wrapping a thick rubber band over the seal but it's really annoying to take off every time you want to light a cigarette 🚬
@@Ludwig_Cox perhaps for some people that shouln't be a problem, personally, i love to refuel it, is like terapeuthic, but the longer the fuel last, depends of the size ans usage tho :b
Bro also people don't smoke anymore because people just vape instead
I have a nice size zippo collection and wasn’t looking to buy more. Now watching this I have to go zippo shopping 😂
Look at the selling price. Zippo is a middle class toy nowadays.
Buy STAR LIGHTERS (high-quality China Zippo clones with steel casing). Especially the STARLIGHTERS USA with brass casing like Zippo are very high quality. Or high-quality "Zorro Ultimat Justice" lighters.
They are just as good, but cheaper.
Pretty good Zippo clones are available for 3 to 4 dollars. Very suitable for Zippo tricks and sounds good!😁
If a Zippo is a “middle class toy” to you, get off the internet and spend more time getting your money right.
Bring back
I still have mine that I carried for over fifteen years until I quit smoking in 1987.
Big deal fuel is CHEAP!!!! LOL>Lazy people.
