Fun fact: Iron Maiden has not used tour buses in a long, long time. Bruce Dickinson, the singer, is a licensed pilot type rated on multiple airliner-sized jets and he flies the band and crew from place to place while touring. The had a Boeing 757 for years, but upgraded to a 747 a few years back. The jet is known as "Ed Force One"! So cool.
..FUN Fact: Bruce Dickinson ? The singer? Stopped a Song..mid song..to call out and yell at 'filthy potsmokers' and..'how dare they do such a thing..in smells distance of him(hahahahahahahah😂😂😂) f him! Their music? Sure. Was cool when i was 16. 😂
Not anymore he had his ticket pulled by the FAA and the British FAA which is about right as most of the major airlines force retirement at 60 and Bruce is now 65 yrs. That is what I heard not sure if it is true.
This is one of my favorite Maiden songs. Yes they are still performing, drummer Nico McBrian (the oldest) is 71 and singer Bruce Dickinson (the youngest) is 65. I’m going to see them again this October in Tacoma.
Hope you have a great time at the show bud - saw them last July and If i had the cash (and time) id be going overseas to watch them again (and again and again)
@@amyballard2495 When was your first concert? Mine was the Peice of Mind tour in 83' in Seattle which is about an hour from Tacoma where I live and I still remember the fun me and my 3 buddies had trying to get home from that concert (my buddies older brother ditched us) in the middle of the night that night. Let's just say a little mischief and a few cops were involved lol. But still the third best concert ever after Deep Purple Perfect Strangers tour and AC/DC's flick of the switch tour and that one only because someone shot off a flair gun and set the Tacoma Domes wooden roof on fire and while they were clearing people out AC/DC started playing This House is on Fire.
About Iron Maiden being dadrock: Bruce says their fanbase is like plywood. Every year a new layer forms and it all sticks together. That is true, they keep building layers of fans of all ages. My sons are 9 and 5 years old. They think Maiden is music for moms because I like them so much 😂 my 5 year old likes them too, so here's to another layer: up the irons 🤘
Over 40 years strong! Still touring. Most members all in there 60's. Bruce is the best story teller & live singer/performer in the business. Live concerts are over the top. Check out Fear of the Dark live in Rio! The fencing was Bruce! He actually entered in competitions. Love them all! 🤘🤘💪
You have to see this band LIVE to fully appreciate how great they really are! Amazing talent in this band at every single position. Loved the "Dad Rock" reference!
Dad rock is a relative term. This came out when I was 12 and am now pushing 50. My son loves Iron Maiden and I even took him to see them last year. I guess it depends on the age you are when you first hear them. I love all of their music from the different eras and it’s good to see them still toucans recording. Lead singer, Bruce Dickinson, is an author, public speaker, high level competitive fencer, cancer survivor, and airline pilot along with his work with Iron Maiden and a solo career. He actually pilots the band’s own plane while on tour.
I'm 53... It's dad rock because this is what I was rocking out to in my teens and haven't heard anything really better since then so I still rock out to it.
Hallowed Be Thy Name is the song/video you were trying to remember the name of. Fun trivia - Bruce Dickinson fences in his off time, and has competed in numerous international competitions.
if memory serves me, the lead singer Bruce Dickinson is a Olympic grade fencer, airline pilot ( he pilots the band around the world (still?) and had throat cancer at one point. other more knowledgeable people will put this right if i missed anything. oh yeah Run to the hills is a great maiden track !
Wait one minute.. born and bred in Adelaide myself now in Perth, hadn't heard that they were coming back to OZ gonna have to look into that and clear a space in my roster if they come to Perth. Or maybe even a good reason to head back to my ole haunting grounds . Thanks for the heads up mate . 👍
These guys play pick up soccer in almost every town they can while touring. Bruce the lead singer competed at fencing on an international level and got his pilots licence a few decades ago. He flew for commercial airlines and he pilots the bands jet "Ed Force 1" when they tour.
Nailed it, BP! Adrian Smith wrote this song about being on the road, and missing home. My favorite IM song - came out in '86, I believe. Bruce Dickinson (lead singer) is an Olympic-level fencer, in addition to all the other things he excels at. I urge you yet again to watch the documentary "Flight 666" - not necessarily as a reaction, but to give yourself a broader understanding of the band and their fans.
Up the Irons baby!! I love Maiden ❤️ one of my first introductions to Metal. Judas Priest, Sabbath, Scorpions (old stuff) and Iron Maiden were on my folders in 8th grade! 3 yrs after...Metallica was my favorite!! I'm almost 60..still love my Metal!!🤘
Iron Maiden - Run to the Hills. It's about English settlers from England taking away land from Native Americans and the Native Americans fighting to keep their land. A British band writing a song about American history, imagine that?
They sing about United States Cavalry as they are doing their galloping on the Plains. They say white-man came across the sea, so they are talking about Europeans, not just the British/English/scottish/welsh/irish people.
I first saw Iron Maiden in 1986 in Germany and Twisted Sister opened for them. I am so glad I was raised in a military family and was able to see bands on tour all around the world
Adrian - solo player on this track - was playing this in the studio when Steve - leader/base player - said I like it and Adrian said it is too commercial but Steve said we are having it. The rest is history. They played this as last track of latest tour
Where I grew up, the only ONLY song of Iron Maiden’s that they would play on the radio was “Run to the Hills” probably because it was radio “friendly” as far as time.
Same! I didn’t know anyone who liked them when I was in high school and college. The metal that I knew was Dio and Judas Priest. Fast forward to 2000 when I met my husband who loves Maiden. Found an AMAZING catalog of material and will be seeing Maiden for the 7th time in Oct. Best group live! Up the Irons!
Iron Maiden is talent. Their music has stood the test of time. Their fan base is made of young and old, which speaks volumes. Not so much a Dad Rock band as some may think. As far as today's Heavy Metal-anyone can scream into a mic...

This was my first concert in 1986, Somewhere in Time Tour. I was 10. A beautiful song & you’re spot on the message. Don’t get lost in the past. As for Dad Rock. Well, Im a dad & this totally rocks! So screw the haters.
They play football at every occasion (Steve Harris is a massive Aston Villa Fan) and they are still going strong. Maiden is a band who has a lot of support regardless their age. It's basiclay for all generations because most songs are timeless.
Just saw them in NYC and they played a handful of songs from this album Oh and they are still f-brilliant!! Top notch sound and theatrics Bow to the kings that are Iron Maiden!!! Up the irons!!!!!!!!!!!
This from the Somewhere In Time [album] - had been released back in ‘86! Many would argue, ‘twas the last of the most critically acclaimed albums during this golden era (‘80-‘86) of the band.
@tristanrl1940 Powers lave is an awesome album... to me it's like MASTER OF PUPPETS AND RIDE THE LIGHTNING... they both are great in their own way... I just love that I have all these songs in my phone and jam whenever I want🤘🏽😎
Same I saw Dio first and was able to get tickets to Maiden a few months later so glad those were my first concerts only band that compares to them that I've seen is Ramstein
I will be seeing them again for the 6th time in the last 10yrs this November in Charlotte NC, last time was October 2022 in Greensboro NC. They will be coming back to the US starting this summer, if you want to see a great rock show I suggest you catch one in your area, and they are worth a trip to go see.
Guys Iron Maiden started out in 1975 with few lineup changes. Iron Maiden is taking a break from touring. In the meantime, Bruce Dickinson is on his solo tour for his solo album.

Wasted years was released in 1986 on the album Somewhere in Time. I think the other song you are thinking about is Hallowed Be Thy Name which came out in the early 80s - 82 or 83.
When I turned 18, my dad gave me money for Iron Maiden tickets so I went there with some friends who were huge fans. I had never been to a concert before and I didn't listen to metal. But after that show I never went back. Iron Maiden is one of the greatest bands in history.
Awesome video,.. Wasted years is a 1986 classic from the Somewhere In Time album,. Actually this was the last song they played on Future/Past tour.. 🤘🏻😎💯🙏🏻
IRON MAIDEN HAS THE BIGGEST FAN BASE THAN ANY OTHER BAND IN HISTORY !!!! NEVER PLAYED ON THE RADIO WAVES !!! JUST WATCH ONE OF THEIR LIVE CONCERTS AND SEE THE SOLD OUT ARENA EVERY FU@K!NG TIME !!! NO MATTER WHAT NICO LOOKS LIKE HE CAN FREAKING DRUM LIKE A BEAST...F YOUR CO HOST ITS ABOUT THE MUSCIANSHIP AND LYRICS BRO.. KEEP ROCKING BROTHER
managed to get to see them last year, still performing and still bringing it. There is such a discography that you could choose from - and believe me it will take you a while to get through it all. Nicko at 71 is still performing even though he suffered a minor stroke at the start of the year.
Bruce is a world class fencer too, and was knighted by the Queen of England. Yes, he’s also a commercially rated pilot who flew Ed Force One on their tours…
One of my favorite Maiden songs off my second favorite Maiden Album, Somewhere in Time, 1986 I believe!! Yes, this song is all about living in the moment. "Don't waste your time always searching for those Wasted Years. Face it, make your stand and realize you're living in the Golden Years". Amazing message and song!! On and yes, this is now Dad Rock, but that's a term coined by the 20 somethings that listen to Screamo/Emo Metal/Rap etc. Which is ironic, because in 5/10 years they'll be the dads🤣🤣
In 1983 i was 16 years old when i first heard motley crue. I talked about them nonstop for a whole week, i thought they were the greatest band ever, then i heard IRON MAIDEN for the first time and i was like, 'Motley Who?'. UP THE IRONS!!!!!!!
You both are soooo crazy happy guys!!!!!!!!. Greatings from ibach-schwyz, switzerland, where the victorinox knives were manufactured. That's nice, you know nothing about iron maiden, the first album came out 1979, called off course iron maiden. I know that, because music is my totally passion since over 50 years. You should know, that i was music, film and gamesaler for over 30 years. I know Bands, for example Hölderlin and satin whale from germany. Check out this two bands. G For example try tool, a band from san Francisco. I like, that you enjoy rock, i guess your favourite music rap and hip hop. Bye from a nearly 63 old zürichman.
I'm a Great Grandfather and listen to this. Steve Harris the founder of Iron Maiden is my age... 67. So when you say Dad Rock I laugh. I still drums to this and many others having been in a bar band.
You really should check out "The Clairvoyant". It's an amazing song and one of my favorite Iron Maiden tunes. If Maiden is "Dad Rock", then today's Metal is "Punk-Ass, Wasted Talent" music.
This video is so good. I love that this song is inspiring people all these years later. It truly is their best and my all-time favorite song EVER. UP THE IRONS! Also the reason it has that 80's sound is because Tom Sholz, founder and the main songwriter and guitarist from the band Boston, is also an engineer and back in the early 80's he founded a company called Sholz Research & Design to sell his tech. He developed a guitar distortion rack effect unit called a Rockman that had special distortion and chorus sounds. Initially designed for use on his bands albums he sold this tech to a lot of other bands. SO many that you ended up having that sound on a ton of popular and highly-influential albums. Some of those albums include Def Leppard's Hysteria (Pour Some Sugar On Me), ZZ Top's 'Eliminator' (She's Got Legs) and Afterburner (Planet Of Women), and of course Iron Maiden's Somewhere In Time which this song is off of. The Rockman along with units like the Eventide harmonizer became ubiquitous on rock and metal albums of the era. It wasn't until Eddie Van Halen helped develop the Peavy 5150 amplifier in the early 90's that the sound of modern rock would shift. By that time you had amps like the Mesa Boogie rectifier (used most famously on Pantera's Vulgar Display of Power album) and others making it so rock and metal began to have a wider variety in guitar sounds.
Unsure if you've mentioned up til this point, but the "Mummy/Skull" is their mascot Eddie. He makes appearances on the cover of every album as a different version to meet the themes of the album. And makes appearances on stage as a 10 ft tall version and has battles with Bruce the singer, whether a sword fight or gun fight.
What could have been a toss-off song from the biggest heavy metal band in the world has endured and really taken a place among their songs as one of the most profound, honest efforts of their career. A bit more listenable, still with the distinctive fire they always brought. Definitely holds up well nearly 40 years later. My daughter is 16, this is one of her favorite songs, I've taken her to see Maiden twice, when she was 9 and 13. They were my first concert at age 15 in 1984. Maiden is definitely a multi-generational band. Thanks for the reaction as always.
My favorite Iron Maiden song. The lead singer, Bruce Dickinson has a son, Griffin, who was in a band called SHVPES. (No, not a typo). This band was considered rap metal, so maybe you might like the music. Unfortunately, the band broke up after 3 albums, but I would hope you check out the song “Undertones”, it is a banger.
Yes, dad rock. That 80's / 90's power metal sound. It really is timeless . That's why I love Lovebites, they are keeping the sound alive, and some young metal heads who think they are this new Japanese metal sound is funny to me. Just a new vision of the best of the best.
Just wanted to give you a FYI. The Name for the band (Iron Maiden) came from the movie A Man in a Iron Mask. The bass player and primary sond writer Steve Harris saw a Iron Maiden in the movie. So he named the band after that.
Too many to pick from .. but this older sticks out most .. just love the guitars on this one .. iconic on my opinion.. thanks for this reaction black Pegasus💯.. your music is good this channel and guests kick butt too .. 💯❤️✌️🙏..
I was 15 years old and was a huge Iron maiden fan and went to see them live in Spokane, Wa. in 1988. This was still during the time of the Satanic panic. Gun and Roses opened for them and Iron Maiden played an incredible show. Needless to say, I was on cloud nine leaving the arena having just seen my musical heroes. As we are leaving, a bunch of religious fanatics had setup a stage with banners and PA, telling us to repent from Satan and this devil music. I just thought too myself yall have no clue what this band was about and so quick to judge. Iron Maiden are great story tellers of history and literature, They are a very well educated band that liked to put on a theatrical performance for their fans and I was very thankful to have experienced their music.
Just imagine getting on a 747 Jumbo Jet to fly across the ocean....and the lead singer of Iron Maiden is the pilot. True....dude is also a pilot; and he flies jumbo jets.
So cool.

Dam Right!!
Dave and Adrian are, in my opinion, the best guitar duo ever!!!!!!
Bruce Dickinson, best rock singer, ever !!
that bass line! Btw the song you listened to about the man getting hung is called "Hallowed be thy name" :)
Nicko at 71 is still performing even though he suffered a minor stroke at the start of the year.
i have seen these boys live 33 times so far here in the UK best metal band on the planet bar none. and yes i am bias
Bruce is a world class fencer too, and was knighted by the Queen of England. Yes, he’s also a commercially rated pilot who flew Ed Force One on their tours…
Unquestionably one of the greatest metal songs of the 80's, or ever.
Steve Harris's Bass playing is fantastic in this track....... he's a Bass GOD I.M.O 🤘🤘
This song was originally released 6 September 1986 from their 6th album Somewhere in Time
This is my favorite Iron Maiden song.
Seen them 3 times in concert. I used to play this album on my radio show in college (back in 86-87). Love the channel dude
This came out in 1984. I was born in 69. Still my favorite band.
1986 not 1984
In 1983 i was 16 years old when i first heard motley crue. I talked about them nonstop for a whole week, i thought they were the greatest band ever, then i heard IRON MAIDEN for the first time and i was like, 'Motley Who?'. UP THE IRONS!!!!!!!
My first concert ever, 12 years old 1984. Iron Maiden and Judas Priest 🤘
For example try tool, a band from san Francisco. I like, that you enjoy rock, i guess your favourite music rap and hip hop. Bye from a nearly 63 old zürichman.
I love that your first reaction was about the messaging! Realize you’re living in the golden years!
The lead singer, Bruce Dickinson, is a professional fencer, a published author and a commercial pilot.
Hallowed be thy name is the song he was talking about, wasted years came out in 1986
Unsure if you've mentioned up til this point, but the "Mummy/Skull" is their mascot Eddie. He makes appearances on the cover of every album as a different version to meet the themes of the album. And makes appearances on stage as a 10 ft tall version and has battles with Bruce the singer, whether a sword fight or gun fight.
Keep upping the Irons. 🎉🎉🎉
Yes they are trying to say that they get depressed in the road at times when they look back they realized how much they have missed
Great Band Enjoy The Best Band EVER
My favorite band in the world!
There is a great cover of this song by Melanie Mau & Martin Schnella along with a great guitar solo by Johan Hallgren of Pain Of Salvation.
Pink floyd Comfortably numb!! Pulse koncert 1994. Best Guitar solo in History
💯 🎸
Cmon with the Pink Floyd shit! Take that shit elsewhere...
